***
After causing the accidental death of a fellow werewolf, Nate Silverman is banished from his pack, but that doesn't stop him from breaking the rules and attending the Elders' Ball. There he crosses paths with rival alpha, Lucius Nightshade, and as their eyes lock, their souls are entwined by a force neither of them can deny-they're fated mates. But Lucius isn't who he seems, and has a hidden past that spells trouble. Threatened by a manipulative ex, the rise of the Wolf King, and a dark prophecy that forbids their union, their relationship is put to the test. And as tensions escalate, they must reveal their darkest secrets if they're to save their love. In a fight against fate, will their love prevail or will the prophecy come to pass, condemning them to a tragic end?

Art of Fantasy World Building
Fantasy world-building is an essential part of storytelling in the genre. It involves creating unique settings, cultures, and characters that transport readers to new worlds. This article explores the key elements of effective fantasy world-building and offers practical tips for aspiring writers.
1. Start with a Concept
Every great fantasy world begins with a central idea. This could be anything from a single question to a broader theme. For example, you might ask, "What if magic was a natural resource?" or "What if dragons were the ruling class?" Your central concept will guide your world-building choices and provide a foundation for your story.
2. Develop the Geography
The geography of your world shapes its cultures and influences how characters interact. Consider the following elements when designing your setting:
Landforms: Are there mountains, rivers, or deserts? How do these features affect the climate and the people living there?
Climate: What type of weather patterns exist? Are there seasons? How do these patterns affect the inhabitants' daily lives?
Cities and Settlements: Where do people live? Are there sprawling cities, small villages, or nomadic tribes? Think about the architecture, technology, and resources available in these locations.
Creating a detailed map can help you visualize your world and keep track of its geography.
3. Build Cultures and Societies
Cultures are what make your world feel alive. Each culture should have its own customs, beliefs, and social structures. Consider the following aspects:
Languages: Do different regions have their own languages or dialects? How do these affect communication and trade?
Traditions and Rituals: What festivals or ceremonies are important to the people? How do they celebrate milestones like births, marriages, and deaths?
Economy: What resources are valuable in your world? How do people trade and interact economically?
Remember, cultures can be influenced by their environment, history, and interactions with other societies.
4. Create a System of Magic
If your fantasy world includes magic, it's essential to establish clear rules. A well-defined magic system adds depth and consistency to your story. Here are some points to consider:
Source of Magic: Where does magic come from? Is it drawn from nature, ancient beings, or mystical objects?
Rules and Limitations: What are the boundaries of magic? Are there consequences for using it? Establishing limits will make magic feel more believable.
Types of Magic: Consider different forms of magic, such as elemental magic, healing, or enchantments. Each type can have its own rules and characteristics.
5. Develop Compelling Characters
Characters are the heart of your story, and they should be shaped by the world you create. Consider how their backgrounds, cultures, and environments influence their personalities, goals, and conflicts. Here are some tips for developing characters:
Backstories: What experiences have shaped them? Consider how their history connects to the larger world.
Motivations: What drives your characters? Understanding their desires will help you create compelling narratives.
Conflicts: How do characters interact with their world and each other? Conflict can arise from cultural differences, personal goals, or external threats.
6. Weave in History and Lore
A rich history adds depth to your world. Consider the following elements:
Myths and Legends: What stories do people tell? These can shape beliefs and traditions within the culture.
Important Events: What historical events have shaped the current state of the world? Consider wars, treaties, and discoveries that have influenced society.
Famous Figures: Who are the heroes or villains of your world? Their legacies can impact current events and shape the beliefs of the people.
7. Show, Don't Tell
As you develop your world, remember to show it through your characters' experiences. Instead of explaining every detail, let your readers discover the world through action, dialogue, and descriptions. This immersive approach helps readers feel like they are part of the story.

Here are some of the most important questions writers should consider when building a fantasy world:
1. What is the central concept or theme of the world?
What idea or message will shape the overall story?
2. What is the system of magic?
How does magic work in this world, and what are its limitations or rules?
3. What cultures and societies are present?
How do different groups live, what are their customs, and how do they interact with one another?
By thoughtfully exploring these key aspects, writers can lay a solid foundation for a compelling and immersive fantasy world.
Fantasy world-building is a creative and rewarding process. By focusing on a strong concept, developing geography and cultures, creating a magic system, and crafting compelling characters, you can create a world that captivates your readers. Take your time, be open to new ideas, and let your imagination run wild. Your unique fantasy world is waiting to be brought to life!
So dust off your quill and let your imagination run free—after all, who knows what wonders and wackiness await in your fantastical creation?
Over the course of the month, we asked for your thoughts and opinions on several questions in the genre. We are delighted in reading all your answers, and here are some of the pulses of the community!
If you were bestowed with the ability to cast spells, which type of magic would you specialize in: elemental magic, healing magic, or illusion magic?
@Enchanting_Esmie - I'd go with elemental magic :3 The earth has a lot of healing qualities and is part of elemental magic (if I'm thinking earth, air, water, and fire lol) so I'd get two in one.
@Azuriko_Kito - I'm torn between Illusion and Healing magic, but I would most probably go for Healing magic because it fits me the best as a person ✨
@ahnjenjae - I'd choose Illusion magic, because as a lover of Chinese mythology I would read novels with nine-tailed foxes, ghosts and curses focused themes.
@crystallinegod777 - Definitely Elemental, so much to do and you have the capability of combat rather than just healing and being elusive
@flower-east - Personally, I would choose Illusion magic. Mind manipulation, invisibility, deception. Depending on the setting, I am happy to play support, and I'm more than content on my own.
In a world filled with mythical creatures, which creature would you want as your loyal companion and why?
@FullerofStories - I would choose a griffin as my loyal companion for its majestic blend of strength and grace, providing both protection and companionship. Its ability to soar through the skies would offer a breathtaking perspective of the world and make every adventure unforgettable.
@Official_toothless - OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT MY WHOLE LIFE. spirit fox :) it's basically a teal/blue translucent simple fox with patterns and swirls on it. I found it in a book one time but never saw it again.....sad- uh so basically it follows u in spirit, and it can heal you or give you strength when weak. It's basically a spirit animal. It's creative, curious, fierce, loyal and kind. My one that I named is named Raine :)
@S1ngular - I think a dragon because I loved them from the first moment I saw them I would choose it without hesitation, although a Phoenix would also be nice (Let it not be noticed that I use a translator)
If you could be transported to any fantasy world, which subgenre would you choose to visit?
@LadyElmerya - Middle-earth for me as well!! I absolutely love Tolkien's works and the beautiful, magical world he had created...it would be a dream come true if I could visit the golden and silver halls of those fantasy kingdoms, and meet all those great characters...
@CamelliaCarroll - I think I'd really like to visit the world of Caraval, specially, but for subgenres I'd pick historical fantasy or high fantasy!
@karmen_kay_writes - I'd go to the paranormal world. I'd definitely want superpowers and to come across unrealistic beings.
@Moonlightoceanfire - yes, an isekai would sound nice. I would be transported into a world of pixes and fairies but I honestly prefer mermaids so yeah I'ma be a mermaid

✨What is the first story you wrote on Wattpad? How far has it come along now?
@FLPolgar - The first story I wrote and posted on Wattpad was something I had saved from when I was 15 years old. It's called The Alpha & I, and it tanked hard haha. But it's old and my writing style is very different now, so I'm working on rewriting it.
@DannisWrites - My first story on Wattpad has been here since 2021, The Art Of Being Grateful. It's a science fiction short-short story about a girl who needs to escape her abusive boyfriend in an Earth after contact with aliens. It's my only story selected for an ezine years before this, but not very popular. I don't write short-shorts any more because it's really an art form I don't think I can master. I write mostly full-length novels.
@BookNrd - I posted my first story "Unplugged: The New World" in 2015. I had NO idea what I was doing at the time, but over the years it's racked up over 200,000 reads and was the catalyst for making me confident enough to keep writing ❤️🧡
@Exequinne - It's The Fairy Legacy! I'm proud to say that after more than 5 years, it has 24k+ reads now. uwu.
✨ Tell us about your Wattpad journey!
@Mona26042009 - My Wattpad journey has been nothing short of transformative. It started as a quiet corner for my thoughts, a safe space to share stories that felt too big to keep inside. Over time, it became a bridge—connecting me to readers who not only read my words but felt them, lived them with me. There were moments of doubt, wondering if it was enough, but every comment, every vote, reminded me that writing is about connection, not perfection. Wattpad taught me that my voice matters, no matter how small it feels some days. It's been a journey of growth, both as a writer and as a person. Wattpad isn't just a platform; it's a community, a family of dreamers who remind me why I started this journey in the first place—to tell stories that mean something.
@Nightingale257 - Started small back in 2016, took a looong break from the site until I started writing again in 2020, and became more active with writing and reading since then. I've read plenty of genres, joined an awesome book club and Wattpad community, finished my first ever novel, and am now writing my second!
@me_nemis_76 - I have read a lot from here. Honestly there are some writers who have great potential than the writers who publishes soft copies. I have started writing It doesn't get a lot of views but I love reading and writing.
✨ How has Wattpad helped you?
@amazing-lieeee - It encouraged me to write more, share more and be able to interact more as I'm a bit not a social person
@ravenrockz - Has given me a space to write my stories and be as silly as I can. It has also given me the abiltity to visit new worlds and go on adventures in stories.
@GreekGeekPJFangirl - Find people who have the same interests as me!
@fairyseishan - It helped me develop sympathy. I was able to put myself in the shoes of others and try to understand them. Also, I have a busy mind, so writing and reading helps me relax. In the past, I hated reality and the mundanity of my life. I like escaping it. It was to the point where I've been searching for clues and evidences of transmigration in real life or any way to turn back time. Of course, I knew these things were impossible, but it was too much for me that I was willing to bet on these out-of-this-world methods for a chance to escape reality no matter how silly it was. It was a kind of longing I can't explain. A mix of emotions; acceptance, yearning, sadness, frustration, hopefulness, hopelessness. But, now I finally embraced my life and learned to differentiate reality from fiction. But, I still get hit by that random mix of emotions sometimes. In any case, wattpad helped me fulfill my desire for adventure. I get to experience things I will never experience in this life. Like shooting fireballs or riding dragons. I felt like I've lived a thousand lives.
