Welcome back to our (almost) weekly fun in #FanHouse.

I was planning to do an anime chapter for some time now and since there was a fairly large demand for this particular one, today we are going to talk about Fairy Tail.

Spoilers alert I have no idea how far each of you is in the story, so there might be some spoilers in this chapter. Read at your own risk.

We all know that Fairy tail is fun, but where do we start? The fandom is so big one chapter isn't really enough. It has ton of characters and so many arcs my family ran out of fingers to count it (and my family is pretty fucking big). So how about we took it at random.

But before we start. How did you meet our Fairy Tail friends? The manga? The anime? The movies? The video games? Share with us. Tell us your first time with Fairy Tail.

Now let's cover at least the bases.

Lucy Heartfilia

"What I want isn't money or pretty dresses, but a place that recognizes me as who I am. Fairy Tail is my other family, and it is a far more warming family than here!"

"Forget what hurt you in the past, but never forget what it taught you."

Lucy goes through a lot of growth, from a bumbling new Fairy Tail wizard to a powerhouse of her own (but still keeping her bumbling friendly persona xD)

She's a celestial spirit wizard, so she has the ability to use gate keys, the normal ones are silver keys. One of her notable silver keys is Plue, a silver key celestial spirit. There are 12 golden gate keys, each corresponding to a zodiac. She has Cancer, Capricorn, Aquarius, Leo, Aries, Scorpio, Gemini, Taurus, Sagittarius, and Virgo.

She treats her celestial spirits like friends and family instead of tools. And we love her for it.

When the series starts off she just seems like a normal girl whose biggest dream is joining Fairy Tail. However, during the Phantom Lord Arc, we learn that she actually comes from a rich family. Running away from her father, since he wasn't a nice guy, he hires Phantom Lord to abduct her and take her back. This, of course, pisses her off, because they destroy the guild hall, hurt Levy and her two other friends. Seeing the hurt and pain that she's supposedly causing her friends, she wants to give herself up, but they tell her not to. However, she's caught anyways, jumps out of a tower, where Natsu catches her and she starts bursting into tears because she doesn't want to leave Fairy Tail.

Natsu Dragneel

"The minute you think of giving up, think of the reason why you held on for so long."

"Never look at your life as something insignificant. Never forget those friends of yours that you loved."

A lot to say about Natsu ooo boy.

When he's first introduced he seems like a goofy guy (Lucy doesn't even realize he himself is a wizard until he basically destroys a whole town.) However, we learn he was in that town, searching for his father figure Igneel. Who we also learn was literally a dragon and taught Natsu fire dragon slayer magic. And how dragon slayer magic works, in general, is that they consume their element. For Natsu, that's fire, he eats fire to strengthen his magic. It helps him get back up when he's at his lowest point, giving him more sustenance.

Anyone else thinks Dragon Slayer Magic rocks? A little Birdpaw who was helping me with this chapter believes it to be the most interesting.

Anyway, although he's kinda gung-ho and has a tendency to destroy things, he really really cares about his friends. A good example of this is when Erza is blamed for the destruction during the Lullaby arc, and she's sent to trail (and he doesn't realise it's all for show) he barges in there, destroys the courtroom, claiming he's the 'red-headed wizard' that destroyed the guildmaster's meeting place.

They're both thrown in prison. And although Erza is mad, she also appreciates how far he's willing to go for his friend.

His character growth is more subtle since it's really hard to tell since he retains his sense of loyalty to his friends and the way he approaches things.

  Happy  

"Let's get one thing straight, we are not your puppets! You've got it all wrong! We're Fairy Tail wizards, we don't work for you!"

Happy's one of the exceeds. His egg was found by Natsu who raised from childhood.

The exceeds were sent from Edolas to kill the dragon slayers (actually, the truth is the queen wanted to save the eggs before their home of Extalia was destroyed by the power-hungry king) It was just chance

Though Happy doesn't remember anything of the instructions placed in the eggs.

Erza Scarlet

 "You must overcome your fear. Don't let anxiety and despair rule you. That's what it means to be alive."

"If you truly desire greatness, you must first know what makes you weak!"

Erza is actually not introduced until 3 episodes into the series and she's hyped up to be some super scary monster that can kick down three mountains. (Happy's words). However, when she's introduced, she's just calmly walking into the guild hall, carrying the giant thing on the picture above, like, with one arm... over her head.

Lucy starts to see where the hype comes from because even Gray and Natsu (who fight all the time) refuse to in fear of Erza's retribution (Although she's happy to see that they're getting along (they don't behind her back).

However, we learn that her armor is both metaphorical and literal. When we go farther into the story, she's kidnapped by strange people, who hope to activate the R system, which can bring someone back from the dead. It's taboo magic, and the price is the sacrifice of a living person.

She can change armor for certain situations. She has armor for facing fire mages like Natsu, or the Adamantine armor, that can basically block very powerful magic

that's just a few examples of her reequip, and she's one of the few mages that can change armor and weapons in the middle of battle.

We learn that those strange people, like her, were once slaves to build the Tower of Heaven/R system, to revive Zeref, an extremely dark wizard. All the slaves were really sacrifices. She gets tortured under the premise that she was plotting an escape. However, one of her good friends Jellal, gives himself up and takes her place. He's slowly corrupted by the ghost of 'Zeref' and changes. However, back to Erza, who starts a revolt in an attempt to save Jellal.

A fairy tail wizard who was captured at the time, named Rob (who she calls grandpa awww) is the one who inspired her, activating her latent magic as he's literally thanos snapped away (he's disintegrated right in front of her, trying to protect her) controlling all the weapons around her, and pointing them at the guards, that wins the revolt. But she finds Jellal possessed by the spirit of Zeref, and forces her to flee without the others, warning her that if she says anything about the tower he'll kill her and all her friends.

Anyone else is crying yet?

 Gray Fullbuster  

"I'll do what I want till the end. Cut me down if you want."

"I won't run, I will stand and look ahead to what I must do, I must face the fear, I won't let it control me anymore, I will use my heart that holds my courage and my bravery to move me forward to what I must do."

Gray, when we're first introduced to him, is literally introduced as 'This is Gray Fullbuster, he's a talented wizard, but he tends too... well, he has a very bad habit of taking his clothes off'.

However, there is actually a reason for that. At first, like Natsu, he has a habit of facing problems with direct but actually has a lot more restraint. Literally the ice to Natsu's fire.

We learn a lot in the Galuna arc. A demon called Deliora destroyed his hometown and killed his parents, sending him down this 'I need to get stronger to get revenge spiral' which has him meet Ur, his mentor, and another boy called Lyon, who hopes to surpass Ur. She teaches them Ice maker magic, forcing them to take their clothes off in the dead of winter or cold temperatures, telling them that'd it'd help their magic. (It did, she also took her clothes off and I am still a little confused about that.)

When new of Deliora comes up, Gray runs to kill it, but Ur stops him, telling him that 'If that monster is your darkness, then I have reason to fight it'. Ultimately sacrificing herself using Iced shell to keep back Deliora, literally sealing the darkness that caused Gray so much grief away. (But also causing him more grief because Lyon blames him for Ur, as he does.)

I bet NOW you are all crying. I know I am.

Juvia Lockser  

"You can never sever the bonds between Humans! Gray-sama's feelings... Father's feelings... They'll surely reach each other. Even if they change form, feelings always remain in the heart! Because that's what I believe to be the strength of Human Love!"

"Juvia lives for the ones that she loves! You've got to as well. If you have love in your life, then you must keep on living!"

Like Gajeel, she was part of the Phantom Lord guild. A part of a group called the element four (of course, her element is water).

She was a major antagonist. She kidnapped Lucy to bring to Phantom Lord. Gray begins to fight her, but she doesn't want to fight him. They go back and forth, during which we learn that she was in a relationship with someone, but she brought rain everywhere she went, so he broke her up, claiming that she's a downer.

However, also during the fight, she starts developing feelings for Gray. And when they end the fight, she's falling off the building, making a really gnarly reference to her being like a raindrop, going to splatter on the ground. Then Gray catches her. She's speachless and the rain stops!

She joins Fairy Tail, wanting to redeem herself (and be with Gray), and gets Gajeel to join with her.

Gajeel Redfox

"I'm no longer that piece of iron junk you once knew! I don't know if I'm living with meaning like you wanted me to... but... there are people before me I want to protect! No... that I will protect! That's my meaning to live!"

Gajeel, like Juvia, goes through a lot more obvious character development. At first, he's an absolute dick. He destroys the Fairy Tail guild hall, hurts Levy and her team, sticking them to a tree (literally) and beats down Lucy. Natsu fights him, and they're evenly matched, but he gets knocked down once Natsu eats some fire.

Gajeel joins Fairy Tail, and although at first, they don't trust him, Levy is the one to first attempt reaching out. This leads to one of the most defining moments of his heel face turn. Laxus starts beating the crap out of Gajeel, and when Levy and the others try to stop him, he throws a lightning spell at Levy. Gajeel takes the hit using his iron dragon slayer magic and walks away.

And, like the other dragon slayers, he eats iron or other condiments of iron.

Leading him to be called 'Blacksteel' Gajeel.

He starts softening up, with Levy and him actually getting a bit closer. He fights just as hard as Natsu to protect the guild and Natsu from Laxus when he surrounds the town with lightning Lacrima's, declaring a sort of hunger games event where the fairy tail members must fight each other to save the down.

Above is a little aww moment from when he gets an exceed for a partner after the Edolas arc. We all know how upset and jealous he was from not having an exceed of his own.

  Wendy Marvell  

"It's not about whether or not you're a human or an Exceed. We're all living beings and we have to do what is right. I'll be right beside you. There's nothing to be afraid of." 

"Abandoning...Abandoning a friend is unthinkable!" 

Like the other dragon slayers, she's looking for her parental figure, who's also a dragon, Grandeeny. She's the sky dragon slayer, so, like the other dragon slayers, she ingests her element to gain power.

Carla

"Who cares if you're weak!! If we band together, we can do anything!! This country will not crumble!! After all, it's my home country. It will never disappear!!" 

Wendy found Carla the same way Natsu did Happy, except Carla remembered the instructions placed in the eggs.

Carla, was sent with ingrained instructions to kill the dragon slayers (which changed to capture them, leading to the Edolas arc) and refuses to kill Wendy, choosing to accompany and protect her.

Carla was completely devastated when she led them to a trap that she thought would help them free their friends. (which leads to Happy making the proclamation that they weren't the Exceeds puppets and they go to try and save the two dragon slayers).

And we could go on and on... so many amazing characters! Who's your favorite and why? Not only from the already mentioned, we are talking about all the characters.  

And while you'll be thinking about it, here's a little game for you. Below you'll find a list of characters and a list of qualities. Read it, and pair together those you believe belong together.

Fairy Tale is about many things but I am sure you'll agree with me when I say that most of all, it's about friendship.

Friends are everything in this world. A family doesn't always have to be the blood kind. Friends can give you the strength to do great things.  

The picture above is one of the sweetest examples. I bet you all remember when Lucy finds out Loke's dying because he's been banished from the celestial spirit world. As he's starting to disappear, Lucy attempts to open his gate, he tries to tell her to stop since it'll mean that she could die or be assimilated with him, and she just says 'Whatever it takes.' The heartbreaking and one of her other good quotes underlining this is when she says 'What's the point of having magic power, if you can't use it to save the people you care about?' This all ending up with calling the celestial spirit king and Lucy declaring that 'whoever thought you were at fault needs to know that they were wrong'

A sweet moment which spokes volumes of what Fairy Tail is all about.
