Chapter 4: Moonlight Strolls
Veronica's P.O.V.
It has been two months since I met Wyatt. He's been amazing to hang out with and we've gotten to know each other very well. I guess you can say we've become friends already.
I think I have feelings for this guy. He treats me well and is not like my ex. I just hope that my mind isn't playing tricks on me.
My parents and brother don't know about me seeing him, but Sadie is SO overprotective. Not in a bad way, but you know what I mean.
I plan on introducing him to my parents and I hope they don't think I'm dating him because I'm not ready for that after what happened with my ex.
But, he wasn't like my ex. He seemed different. I felt comfortable around him and he allowed me to be myself.
I was in my room, listening to soft music while painting once again.
My parents and brother were asleep already, but me being the night owl I am, I decided to stay up late.
It was about one in the morning right now.
My phone went off and I saw a text from Zed. I opened it up and read it.
Zed🐠: Hey, are you up?
Veronica: Yes. What's up?
Zed🐠: I'm finally going to do it! I'm gonna ask Addison to Prawn!
Veronica: Oh, Zed! That's great! I feel like a proud parent!
Zed🐠: I still haven't planned it yet, but I'll let you know as soon as I know what I'll do!
Veronica: Okay. Good luck, bud! 👍
I put the phone down and went back to painting, which was a beautiful valley with a full moon in the background.
Once I was finished with the painting, I set it aside so it could dry and changed into a pair of purple warm-ups and a black tank top before.
Just as I was about to go into bed, I heard my phone ding.
I looked and saw a message from Wyatt. I smiled before opening it.
Wyatt😍: Hey, Roni. Are you up?
Veronica: Yeah. What's up?
Wyatt😍: Look our your window
I smiled before going to my window and seeing Wyatt there. He waved and I waved back with a blush on my face.
I opened it up and stuck my head out.
"What are you doing here? It's one in the morning." I asked.
"Let's go for a walk. Just the two of us." Wyatt told me.
"We're lucky my family's sleeping. I'll be down in a bit." I said before closing my window.
I threw on a pair of shoes before putting on my black hoodie, since it was about 65 degrees outside.
I quietly got out of my room and out the front door, closing it quietly before running to where Wyatt was, but he wasn't there.
"Hey, Princess."
I jumped and let out a little gasp as I saw Wyatt behind me.
"You have to stop doing that!" I said as I playfully hit his arm.
He laughed before speaking up. "It's a habit."
"Sneaking up on people? I think this friendship will indeed last a long time." I said.
Wyatt chuckled before he gestured me to follow him.
"Where are we going?" I asked as we walked.
"For a walk in the forest. A moonlight stroll." he answered.
I felt the urge to hug him and thank him. I haven't been in the forest in a long time due to the pressure of cheerleading, school, and scholarships.
I also loved moonlight strolls, since my dad would take me when I was a little girl whenever my mom wasn't able to come home early.
"I love moonlight strolls." I told him.
We walked together, taking a couple short cuts here and there until we ended up in the forest. It was so beautiful. The sounds of animals in the distance with the stream running and the beautiful night sky shining with the stars.
What made it more beautiful was the full moonlight that lit up our way.
"Wow, this is beautiful. It's more full than the last time I was here." I said.
"I figured you would like it." Wyatt told me before he stopped walking.
"I know a place we can go." he told me.
"Really? Let's go then." I said.
He wrapped an arm around my shoulders and I couldn't help but feel a warm feeling envelop me. I can't really be developing a crush on this guy, right? I don't have feeling for him. Or do I?
Help me out here, people!
We began walking and it was before we came across a path that would require climbing, since there was boulders and such.
"Here." Wyatt told me as he extended his hand, which I took. He helped me climb the boulders and we ended up on a small little cliff, where the moon was clearly visible and reflected off the water.
"Wow, this is beautiful." I said.
"Sure is." he added.
I smiled as I got a pebble and threw it, watching it jump a couple times in the water.
I smiled as I looked at Wyatt and stared into his beautiful, brown eyes. I suddenly felt frozen as we gazed into each other's soul, practically.
Wyatt's P.O.V.
"Wow, this is beautiful." Veronica told me.
"Sure is." I replied.
I couldn't help but admire her beautiful features as she got a pebble and threw it into the water. These past couple of months of hanging out with her and getting to know her, I've never felt that with any of the she-wolves in my pack.
Veronica turned to me and I smiled as I looked into her dark brown eyes, which complimented her perfectly.
Suddenly, I felt myself freeze in my spot as so many images rushed through my head.
I saw a picture of her and I holding hands, laughing. Another one was of both of us laughing with Wynter, and another one of a black wolf and white wolf licking and nuzzling each other.
What was this?
The next one was of her holding my hand, smiling as she walked forward with her looking back at me, while the following one was of us both shirtless on a bed, me on top of her. The last one was of me and her in a field of wildflowers, holding hands, her head on my shoulder.
Once I was brought back to reality, I mentally gasped as I realized what had happened.
I had imprinted. I imprinted on my best friend. I don't know if she feels it too.
Veronica smiled before she hugged me and I couldn't help but hug her back. "Thanks for bringing me here."
"Yeah, no problem." I replied. "Maybe we should get you back home?"
What surprised me was the fact that she shook her head. "There's no school tomorrow, so I can stay up as late as I want."
I smiled as I realized I could get to spend more time with my soulmate without any limit on time.
The both of us sat down, watching the beautiful moonlight and the slow waves of the water splashing.
I looked to my left and saw a purple flower there. I picked it up and took the stem off before showing it to her.
"For you." I told her.
"Aww, it's beautiful, Wyatt." she said, taking it.
She placed it in her hair and it made her look more beautiful than ever.
Veroncia lay her head on my shoulder, placing a hand on my other shoulder, which made me purr in content, but not loud enough for her to hear.
Werewolves tended to do that when they feel the touch of their mate.
We spent the rest of the time talking and enjoying each other's company.
I wanted to officially have her as my mate, but would she accept me as a werewolf? Would she accept me as her mate? How was I able to do it without breaking a precious law for my kind?
I would have to speak to one of my Elders about it.
The minute she placed her hand on mine, all those questions disappeared. It made me realize an important thing.
None of those mattered as long as she was with me and in my life.
