041. defying gravity
Rafael Rivera, also known as Papa Rivera, was one scary man. He would literally do anything for his children, even if it was murder.
He arrived to New York, excited to see his only son shine once again. He knew this was what was best for Diego, he had longed to see the boy happy like he used to be.
Tom was probably going to "piss his shit" when he sees Papa Rivera. In fact, Papa Rivera wanted to kill him during the infamous Tomigo break. God knows what will happen when those two meet for the first time.

Diego called Indigo 20 minutes later. "He's here."
"Tom! Papa is here!"
"What? Where?" Tom frantically said. He was clearly way too nervous.
"No, silly. He's in New York! He just got to Diego's apartment." Indigo said, giggling.
Tom wipes sweat off his forehead, taking a breath of relief. "Phew."
"Why are you so nervous?" She asked. "Indie, he's scary!"
"Relax! You haven't even met him!" She laughed. Indigo doesn't really see her dad as scary, but this was the man who raised her, after all.
It was hours until Diego's debut, everyone was coming to New York for the momentous occasion. Diego just wanted things to go smoothly, and that requires lots of praying.

They were all outside the theater, waiting to get inside. It was crowded, as per usual in New York. Tom showed up a little late, which kind of made Indigo mad considering how important this occasion was. Harrison was expected to show up, but Tom arrived alone.
"Tom, where's Harrison?" Indigo asked.
"Um, I don't think he's coming." Tom replied nervously. "Why?"
"He kinda got dumped." Things were just going good for Harrison, but guess not anymore.
"Oh." Indigo sighed. "I'll talk to him after the show, even though he'll probably want to be alone."
Papa Rivera walked up to the couple. "There's mi hija."
"Papa!"
Indigo instantly hugged her father, oblivious to the fact he was giving Tom the death stare, something she definitely got from him.
"Papa, this is Tom, my boyfriend." She said, full of excitement.
Tom forced a smile and extended his hand. "Nice to meet you, sir."
"Call me Rafael."
His forced smile faded quickly. "Gotcha."
Those two meeting was highly awkward, but Indigo was too blind to see that, she was just so excited for tonight.

After the show, they went out to celebrate. They ended up going to a karaoke bar, having a few drinks and singing horribly to corny songs.
"You think Papa likes him?" Indigo asked her brother worriedly.
"Mmm, I don't know. Can't tell if he wants to commit murder or crack a cold one with the boys." Diego said, laughing at his own response.
Tom and Papa Rivera were across the bar, talking and drinking beer. The conversation seemed normal from afar, but it wasn't.
"You having sex with my daughter?"
"Um, sir, that's not really your business-"
"Boy, I swear I will kill you if you get her pregnant before marriage!" Rafael yelled.
"I hear ya loud and clear." He said, sweating very intensely.
"Good to know we're on the same page. So, what are your parents like?" Tom truly wanted to die during that conversation.

Arriving home at around 1 am, Harrison was sitting on the balcony, staring at the sky. "I'll talk to him."
"It's your funeral, Indie."
Indigo opened the sliding door, walking out into the balcony. "Harrison?"
He jumped a little. "Sorry, I was spacing out."
"Tom told me what happened, well, he barely told me." She said, sitting down next to him.
"I thought Willow was that girl. My Indigo Rivera." He sighed.
"Your Indigo Rivera?"
"Remember what you said? One day I'd find my Indigo Rivera, even if it wasn't you." Harrison wasn't fully over Indigo, and he probably never will get over her.
Indigo looked down. "Oh yeah-" Wow, aren't I an idiot. "-I did say that. Look, Harrison, there's plenty of fish in the sea. You gotta find your big catch, or your Indigo Rivera, I guess."
"Yeah." He sighed again. "Man, you really are something, Indigo."
"Hey, come here." Indigo hugged him tightly, reassuring to him everything was going to be just fine. Oh how Harrison still wished Indigo would see him as something more, but her happiness mattered more than anything.
Harrison smiled at her, and she smiled back. They really could've been something, it was all just circumstance. Indigo is happy with Tom, and that was okay for Harrison.

Side note: thank you SO MUCH for 2k reads. I know it's not the biggest number, but it means a lot to me. I haven't felt this happy about something I've written in a long time, so thank you for reading this far.
