"I'm gonna be alone forever..." you sighed brokenly, wrapping your arms around your knees. "How come no one I date ever stays? They always find something better and leave."
"Maybe it's because you haven't found the right guy yet." Steve wrapped his arm around your shoulders. "We're not all like that, you know? You will find someone who deserves you, who can make you happy."
"Yeah, when am I going to meet him?" You scoffed, swiping away at the tears in your eyes.
"Maybe you already have, maybe you're looking at him..." He trailed off, his eyes never leaving yours. "Can't you see that I love you? That I'm in love with you... You're all I've ever wanted, Y/N, but you only see me as a brother and not someone that could possibly give you everything you want or need."
"You're in love with me, Steve?" You whispered confusedly, reaching out to touch him... only for him to recoil away from you.
"I get it, okay Y/N... I know you want me to leave and that you could never see me like that... so I'll just go, okay?"
"No, wait..." You grabbed his hands in yours and you smiled gently. "You could've saved me a whole lot of heartbreak, y'know Steve?"

"They were second best, I spent all this time waiting for you to wake up to yourself and see me. I love you too... I have since we were kids. I dated all these guys to try and get over you, and I never could. When I'm around you I don't have to pretend."
