Welcome to Fanfic's Hall of Fame, Mochi711!!!

Mochi711: Fandoms are a community of people who share a common interest in a person, book, etc. Due to their mutually supporting nature, fandoms are a breeding ground for creativity in all forms, be it art, music, dance, and of course, fanfictions. I have found fanfiction to be like a whole new world. Once I entered this new world, I was in awe at what I found.

Without fanfiction, I never would have guessed that I of all people could be a writer. I found friendship in an amazing community of supportive readers and writers. I found joy in discovering a new hobby. I found a home in a place I always assumed would be a transient, short-lived memory. I found warmth, and all of it was possible thanks to the carefully cultivated space Wattpad has created for fanfiction writers and readers to interact freely with each other. 

Mochi711: It's a funny story, really. I have been a part of many fandoms over the years, yet I never even knew fanfics existed until I joined Wattpad almost exactly 11 years ago. I read a few One Direction fanfics and liked them, but I still didn't quite get into fanfics until after I got into K-pop, specifically BTS, back in 2017. I found a plethora of stories that were so amazingly written, that if the names were changed, I was certain they belonged on a bestsellers list.

For years, I read fanfics fanatically, no pun intended. I gained more friends, read experimental books, and expanded my ideas of what writing could be. Although I had published poetry and written a script before, I never tried my hand at prose until I got a crazy idea one day and scribbled it in my drafts. I ended up scrapping it, but the thrill of creating a story stuck with me, and I eventually discovered my niche: short stories and one shots.

Due to this discovery, I dove head first into writing and for years have enjoyed writing and reading fanfiction. Someday, maybe far off in the future, this may feel like the memory of a past life. It would be a cherished memory I will never forget for as long as I live.

Mochi711: My first fellow fan was in a different fandom I was in back in high school, and she was also the one who introduced me to Wattpad, a place I never even knew existed until I was 14. We became fast friends in real life, and that influenced my new online life as I was introduced to other IRL friends on Wattpad, and later friends who I found on my own. Although we eventually lost touch after graduation, I will never forget her, nor the good times we shared, PMing each other on Wattpad when we were supposed to be self-studying, and giggling together as we discussed our favorite scenes in books we shared with each other.

 Mochi711: Whenever I needed an escape from reality, I would run to Wattpad, a nice playlist on while I lost myself in a story. Sometimes if I needed to cry but knew I was having a hard time processing emotions, I would read a particularly angsty fanfic just to get myself in that headspace. 

At other times, I would stumble on an amazingly sweet fanfic that leaves me so warm and fuzzy that it puts a spring in my step as I go about my day. Reading in general brightens my day, so reading a fanfiction about something I enjoy brings it to a whole new level.

Mochi711: My favorite part of being a fanfiction reader and writer is knowing that there is a community I am part of that enjoys the same thing I do. It is so much easier to make friends because I know that no matter what, we have at least one thing in common, which is where we usually start from, later finding out more things we share.

I also love, especially being a writer, that there are fandom readers who are interested in how I craft our shared interests into a new story, and that there are fandom writers who share tips and advice to help hone my writing.

Mochi711: The future of fanfiction is limitless, especially with new ways of writing being introduced, such as text stories and the like. I for one am excited to see how far fanfiction extends, as well as the works of old and new fans alike. With that said, I hope to always be a part of the fanfiction community and grow along with it.
