Captain

"...You make it sound as easy as checking his pockets for change...it's definitely not..."

"Ow... my head..."

"...Why would I know why he's British?... Aren't you-"

"Where are we?"

"A vast expanse of nothingness as far as I can tell. I assume we were both dreaming when our dreams connected."

"And it's just us."

A nod, "Just us."

"Then who were you talking to?"

"...Myself, it's a nasty habit of mine... so, what's your name kid?"

"You can't be much older than me."

A chuckle, "Fine fine, but what's your name?"

"Harry... Harry Potter."

"As if I already didn't know you were British... Nice to meet you Harry, I'm Luke."

"Pleasure."

"So it's clear we've got time to kill," Luke stated getting comfortable. "Tell me about yourself."

"Why?"

"It's something to do."

"I wouldn't know where to start."

"Maybe you can start with the stick you keep twirling anxiously."

Harry's eyes flickered to his wand in his hand, he hadn't even realized he was holding it. "So you don't know what it is?"

"No that's why I asked."

"If I answer your questions will you answer mine?"

"Hmm, depends on the question."

"So if I were to ask why your eyes are gold?"

Luke tilted his head slightly as if surprised, but to Harry it seemed like he was listening. "I guess I could, but if I told you I might have to kill you."

"Well uh..."

"Calm down I was joking," Luke smile with a smile which probably was meant to be comforting, but those gold eyes only made it unsettling. "So? Tell me your story."

"Well... I'm a wizard, and I go to Hogwarts a school-" Harry cut himself off as he slammed his own hands over his mouth. He took a deep breath before speaking again, "That's the truth. I'm a wizard-" He cut himself off again. "Why can't I...?"

"Why can't you what?"

"Lie..."

"So I'm supposed to actually believe that you're a wizard?"

"You try!"

Luke rolled his eyes, "Alright my name is Luke Castellan, my father is Hermes, and I am currently hosting Kronos is order to-" Luke's eyebrows knit I confusion. "Alright then... so you were talking about Hogwarts?"

"No! I'm not telling you anything!"

"Well you already told me you're a wizard, what could you tell me that's weirder?"

Harry paused before he gave a sigh, "Voldemort- he's an evil wizard who wants to kill a lot of people- tried to kill me and I lived. And he resurfaced and he's gonna try to kill everyone again and- and no one believes me..." Harry cleared his throat awkwardly. "What about you? Who's Kronos and why are you hosting him?"

"Well gods are real and my father is one, and the gods treat us terribly and get us killed so I teamed up with Kronos and well in a few hours time we go to war and overthrow them. As for the hosting bit Kronos is a titan and he's kind of using my body, that's also why my eyes look gold rather than blue."

"Is that who were talking to earlier?" Harry asked slowly.

Luke gave a blinding smile, "Yup, he can see and hear everything I do."

"Then who am I talking to?"

Luke only winked.

Harry frowned, "You want war?"

"Well it does send a pretty clear message," Luke shrugged. "Plus at this point most of my siblings and the other demigods seem more keen at preserving what we had rather than working toward a future of equality."

"There's gotta be a better way than fighting your friends and family!"

"Casualties are a part of the process."

"You're beyond insane. There must be a better way."

"Other ways fell through."

"Or is war the only idea you actually tried?"

Luke frowned, "I tried, but if you are truly stupid enough to think you can make an omelette without break a few eggs then..." he scoffed and shook his head. "You said I can't be much older than you, but now I think you're very young considering how naive you are."

There was a short silence before Luke spoke again, "Tell me," he said finally. "What makes this Voldemort so evil?"

Harry blinked in surprise, "He thinks only purebloods are true witches and wizards, and that those born to muggles-"

"What's a muggle?"

"Oh a person with no magic, anyway he doesn't think they are worthy and wants to kill them all. He uses monsters and forbidden magic to do it and to control others and- and he killed so many... including my parents..."

Luke nodded slowly in thought. "So he's a person who uses his influence to control and kill those he doesn't like no matter the cost, or what they want or think? They just live in fear and obedience because it's better than the alternative?"

"Exactly."

Luke gave another one of the those unsettling smiles, "Then he's just like the gods, just like my father. And it's clear you hate Voldemort and you want to stop him, but it's wrong for me to want to overthrow the gods?"

"Shut up. It's not that black and white!"

"Isn't it?"

"No. If people don't have to die then-"

"When people die is when everyone starts to listen. When people die everyone suddenly cares. It shouldn't have to be like that, but that's the cruelty of this world. Perhaps people would believe you about Voldemort if you were dead. They'd suddenly start to take notice in everything."

"I don't plan on dying."

Luke gave a short laugh before he went silent for a few moments, but his golden gaze didn't leave Harry's face, "...I could kill you."

Harry felt a chill roll down his spine and he tightened his grip on his wand. "You can't we're  in a dream."

"We don't know that for sure."

Harry swallowed and Luke laughed, "Calm down I'm kidding, I was just trying to prove my point. I won't, I don't gain anything."

"You make it kind of hard to tell when you're joking."

A shrug.

"What was your point anyway?"

Luke paused as if thinking of a better way to explain, "What would happen if no one fights back against Voldemort? Just let him and his people rule the world?"

"People would die."

"And if you fight him, wouldn't people die then too?"

"Yes..."

Luke smirked, "For me we die regardless if we fight back it not. Many don't live to adulthood. So tell me, if a few people die to ensure others don't, isn't that worth it? If killing others and even myself meant that things would get better for all the demigods, I would do it. Would you die to defeat Voldemort?"

"I..." Harry trailed off unable to answer, but Luke nodded satisfied. As the world around them seemed to shake suddenly.

"It seems one of us is waking," Luke sighed before he smiled. "I've got a war to win, but and just remember, it's always better to fight back. And the way you describe your Voldemort I think you might need to fight one day."

"I don't want to."

"The ends justify the means."

"Not always."

"We'll soon find out."
