Child's Play 2 (Batfamily)
A/N: This story takes place pre New 52. Bruce Wayne is also based on the version from Waner Bros. The Batman.
Barbara's PoV
"Seriously though, why don't we have a pool? We should have a pool," Dick ranted as he shoved some eggs in his mouth. He'd been going on about us not having a pool for about a month now. It could be seen as cute if he hadn't been doing this every year since he was nine.
Tim swallowed his toast before saying, "Even though he's beeing pretty annoying, I've got to agree with him. We really should have a pool."
I sighed, "We've been over this before, Bruce wanted to keep everything as close to the original mannor as possible. Anyways, it would probably get in the wat of some bat-thing."
"The batplane to be exact," Bruce said as he walked into the room and took a seat at the table. I swear that man waits in the corner just to make an entrance. "There's a society club pool, we can go today."
"Really? Today? YES!" Dick's eyes lit up making the blues pop even more, you could see different shades mixing in with his mostly crystal- What am I thinking? Snap out of it, Barbara! Dating him isn't an excuse to turn this into a cheesy teen romance story.
"Does this mean Grayson will finally stop his infernal whining?" Damian asked in that odd, definalty not how ten-year-olds talk, way of his.
"For today," I answered. "Then it'll start all over again."
Damian rolled his eyes, "Tt."
"No offense, Damian, but what is that supposed to mean," Tam questioned. Tamara Fox is one of the few non-vigalanties who knows about our night life (along with her fater Lucius Fox, CEO of Wayne Interprise). She's been helping us with cover stories a lot since Bruce came back from being lost in time.
"It is a sound of annoyance, Fox," Damian replied.
"Again with the last names," Tam said.
"I do believe Master Richard is going to have a seizure if we don't leave soon," Alfred said drawing my attention to Dick who was fidgiting like a kid who was just told they could have a puppy.
"Okay, just let me go get-" I was cut off as Dick jumped out of his chair and ran to his room. "-changed," I finished. There were chuckles around the room as I wheeled out.
I think I heard someone say, "It's sweet how he waits for her." It was followed by what sounded like "He'd be stupid not to."
"Babs!"
I looked up from the article I was reading to see Dick running over to me. He stopped right in front of me causing me to have to look up at him. He smiled then began talking, "I think we should have a chicken fight! Tim and Tam already agreed."
I set down my tablet before looking back at him, "Dick, I really don't-"
"Great," he scooped me up as he cut me off. He started running at the pool, and I instantly knew what was going to happen.
"Dick put me- ACH!" I was plunged into the water; it wasn't too cold, but it still startled me a bit. "Why don't you team up with Damian?"
"He already has a teammate," Dick casually replied as he set me on his shoulders. I looked for Damian, saw him on the shoulders of teammate, and wanted to quit right then.
I shook my head as I said,"No. No way I'm going against Bruce. Do you understand how completly demolished we'll be?"
"I've already talked to Tim, we're going to gang up on him," Dick said as if that made a difference. Call me a pesimest, but there's no way we can beat Batman.
When we were all gathred ina circle, Dick began to talk, "Okay, the rules are simple. If you fall off your partner's shoulders, your team is out. no leaving this side of the pool, and no trying to actually kill eachother." With that last rule he gave a pointed look to Tim and Damian, causing Bruce to chuckle.
"Let's just get started, Grayson," Damian said.
"Okay," Dick said before charging towards fowards. I took this as my cue to try and shove Damian, but Bruce moved before I could. Tim stepped behind them and Tam pushed Damian fowards, but he managed to recover.
"You'll have to push harder than that, Fox," Damian...teased? I think he was actually having fun! Woah!
Tam just laughed, "Will do." They began to circle around each other, giving me a chance to look around. Many people, mostly women, were giving us nasty looks, others just watched us, but a few people were smiling. I saw two men exchange money.
I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard a squeal. My head snapped towards the sound just in time to see Tam and Tim topple over. When they came up Tam was laughing. Tim was wet, thst's really the only way to decribe him at that moment. He turned to me with a dark look on his face. His hair was covering his eyes, but I'm sure if I could see them they'd be nothing but pits of fire.
After a few seconds of me accepting my death, he spoke. "Destroy him, Barbie."
We charged at eachother. The second I could I grabbed onto Damian's shoulders. He latched onto my elbows. As we shook eachother back and forth, I realized we were at a stalemate, so I did the only thing I could do.
I sighed before giving the order, "Dick, the plan."
Dick sounded shocked as he resopnded, "Babs, you can't be serious! There's no way we're-"
"Dick, it's our only choice!" I yelled.
For the first time since I met him, Bruce sounded a little confused, "What are you two-"
"NOW!" I yelled. Dick threw himself backwards, causing me to fall with him, but it wasn't in vain. Bruce and Damian went down with us. I smiled at Dick when he came up.
"We didn't lose," I said flatly.
Dick laughed, "I told you we wouldn't be demolished!"
"Yeah, yeah," I said. "Just help me to the stairs."
Dick did as he was told, and we were soon seated on the pull steps.
"Why were you so excited to come to the pool today?" I questioned. "I mean, you're usually happy to go, but today seemed excessive."
"I thought you may like it," he stated as if that cleared everything up.
"What-" I cut myself off as relization hit. "You planed this all out. You knew we'd be coming here to have a chicken fight! Just like old times..."
Dick looked away before asking, "Did you enjoy it?"
"Of course I did.Other than my glasses getting wet, of course." Just to prove my point I leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "We should do this more often."
He smiled before responding, "We should."
"I believe it is time for us to be heading home," Alfred called to all of us. "That is, if you'd like to make it home in time for lunch."
Everyone shot out of the pool, not wanting to miss Alfred's cooking. Dick picked me up and set me back in my chair. I saw tears form in most of the women who had given us dirty looks earlier's eyes as they realized how big of a deal it was for me to have been participating (at least they thought it was a big deal). I rolled my eyes, but otherwise had no reaction.
Dick grabbed the seat of my chair since there were no handles, "Let's go, Babs. I heard Alfred made sandwitches." When we got out of the pool area he jumped onto the bar at the bottom of my chair, and rode it down the small hill to the car. Both of us laughed the entire way there.
