You sat in the bunker, knees curled up as you read your book. Your brothers were out on a hunt but should be back at any moment.

Just as you were getting to the best part of the book you heard to door slam. You jumped and turned around, throwing your book at the intruder, only to have it hit Dean in the face.

You heard Sam dying of laughter behind him as you ran up to your older brother. "Sorry about that Dean!" You said whilst checking his face to make sure you hadn't seriously injured him.

"(Y/N), it's going to take more than a book to take me down," he said while giving you a smirk.

You chuckled a little. "Can you imagine though, The great Dean Winchester defeated by, not an actual      vampire but a book about one."

Sam gave you a questioning look, "does that mean you're reading 'Twilight'?" He questioned. You stuck out your tongue at him and retorted "no Sammy I'm reading Dracula, why would I be reading something like that anyway, that's more of a teen novel."

It was Dean's turn to laugh at this. He rubbed the top of your head, messing up your hair. "If you two are going to be nerds and argue about books then I'm heading to bed." He turned around and and walked to his room.

You turned around towards Sam, a troubled expression on your face. "Any luck yet?" He sighed, shaking his head. The mark of Cain had been driving everyone up a wall, while Dean was busy trying to accept the fact that he was going to be stuck with it forever, you and Sam were busy trying to find a way to get it off of him.

You smiled sadly at your younger brother. "I'm sure he'll be fine."

*time skip*

You sat up in bed, rubbing your eyes. Squinting at the clock beside you to see the time. 2:41.You sighed, "no use going back to sleep now" you mumbled.

You made your way to the kitchen, dragging your feet along the way. Opening the refrigerator and pulling out the container of milk.

You  grabbed a glass from the counter and began poring yourself a glass when you heard a scream coming from Dean's room.

Quickly grabbing a gun that was in one of the drawers, you ran towards the room, hoping that nothing bad had happened to your brother.

You barged through the door, gun ready to shoot anything that stood in your way.

You slowly put your gun down when you realized the reason your brother was screaming was not from a monster but from a nightmare.

You sighed, thankful that this was not as serious as you first perceived and began to walk over and shake Dean in an attempt of waking him.

He suddenly jolted awake and instantly wrapped his arms around you, hugging you as if he was a child who needed his mother's comfort.

You were startled for a moment, but your expression softened when you realized the situation. You returned his embrace and slowly began stroking his hair.

"Hey Dean, it's okay I'm here." You whispered as he continued to cry into your shoulder. "No,it's not okay (Y/N)!" You were taken aback by his sudden retaliation and just as you were about to respond, he interrupted  your train of thought.

"No one's safe, not you, not Cas, not Sammy. As long as I have this...this thing on my arm you're all in danger. I'm just a monster."

You were shocked. How were you supposed to respond to that? You wanted desperately to tell him he wasn't a monster but you already knew what his response would be. He would call you a liar and that would only make matters worse.

Then it hit you. There was one thing he need now. Something to calm him and allow him to get some much needed sleep. The tune came off of your lips as you remembered the way your mother would sing to him.

Hey Dean, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better

You saw him instantly begin to relax, and in hopes of getting him to fall asleep, continued to sing.

Don't carry the world upon your shoulders

His eyes began to slowly close as you continued to sing. You slowly moved so he can easily lay back down on his bed.

Then you can start to make it better

And don't you know that it's just you, hey Dean, you'll do

Noticing he was finally asleep. You slowly got up to walk out, finishing the song as you walked out the door of his room.

Hey Dean, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her under your skin
Then you'll begin to make it
Better

You softly closed his door and turned around to see Sam giving you a sad look.

"Hey," you whispered, "I'm guessing Dean woke you up." You gave him a small smile, attempting to pass it off as if it was nothing.

"Are you okay (Y/N)?"

That's when you broke. The tears came streaming down your face as you reached out to your brother in hopes of getting some sort of comfort.

He held you in his arms. Not bothering to question why you were crying. He knew exactly what it was. This whole thing was getting to you.

All you wanted was for Dean to be the person you saw as unbreakable. You wanted the Dean who would complain about something stupid your Sammy did, not about how he was going to protect you from himself.

"Don't worry (Y/N)," Sam whispered, "Everything will change."

(A/N): So yeah there goes the first story in this book. If you see any errors in spelling or grammar don't be afraid to let me know.

Also the video in the begging of the story are Hey Jude by: The Beatles (obviously, I mean it was in the story).

I was going to add the song that I based this story off of but I figured Hey Jude would be a better fit.
