I woke up to absolutely nothing. Literally. I was blind. Have been for as long as I could remember. Other than the outlines of orange magic my soul gave off so I could 'see', I couldn't ever actually see. Not really. There was a downfall to my 'sight'. It don't work with clear glass. So I guess you can call me a bird? I don't freaking know. So I avoid windows, clear glass dishes, and especially that freaking glass door at the back of our new house. See, monsters lived on the surface now. We all pitched in an' got a nice house, with a big backyard, an' a swing set and pool. It was all nice. So nice they won't let me smoke inside or in the back. It worked out, cause I didn't have to deal with that stupid glass door. Anyway, I knew everybody loved it. A shame I couldn't see it. Not like I was gonna bother the others with my problems though. I mentally prepared myself for the oncoming day and sat up from my bed. I felt around for my sweater and shoes, slipping them on. I navigated through the mess I called my bedroom and left, closing the door behind me.

I was taking a smoke break outside, when an outline of movement caught my eye. My guess was Chara because it was short (dude almost everyone is short to you) with a mop of messy hair on their head and shorts instead of Sans' pants and boots. Not to mention his signature bandanna. I loved his bandanna. "sup kiddo."
"Can we play tag?" They asked, bouncing in anticipation. "nah. not in the mood." I went to take out a cigarette, only for my Pack to be snatched away. "If you want them back, you have to come get them!" They ran off laughing. "chara! give, 'em back!" They rounded the corner before I could catch their soul. "kid!" I dashed after them, rounding the same corner that they were just at not to long ago. They were already rounding the other corner. "they'll be the death of me... again." I muttered as I pursued around that corner. They disappeared inside and I chased only to slam so hard into the door that I fell onto my back. "what?!" I could hear Alphys and Chara snickering on the other side. "A-are you ok Pappy?" I growled already annoyed as I rolled onto my hands and knees and pulled myself back onto my feet. Realization hit fast as I could see the outlines of items inside the house.. not the door. Crap.. I walked cautiously up to the door and pressed my palm to the glass. I debated just ditching the pack and buying another. No. Couldn't do that, Sans wouldn't be happy that I wasted the money when I still had a full pack at home. "Papyrus, are you ok my friend?" Asgore asked, noticing my hesitation. "'m just fine. peachy in fact." I felt around for the handle. Where was it? Nobody was laughing anymore as I struggled. I was getting more irritable by the second. "where's the fucking handle?!" I didn't even realize I'd said it out loud until Sans said something. "BROTHER.. IT'S RIGHT HERE." Just like that the glass vanished from my hands and I found myself kinda just standing there, realizing my slip up. "Papyrus.." Toriel started slowly. "Are you blind?" Nope. Not doing this today. I quickly found myself in my room, cigarettes forgotten, despite the unsatable urge to smoke and forget about all this.

I paced the room. Couldn't smoke, so pacing was my next best. Ran out of honey. I wasn't going to go and face them all. It wasn't like I was ashamed of being blind. I'd accepted it long ago, but I was ashamed that I'd never said anything sooner. Would they hate me for it? Would they treat me differently now that they knew? Endless possibilities and no definitive answers. I hated this. It's why I hadn't said anything in the first place, but I should have. My mind kept bringing me back to square one. I groaned. It was so frustrating, going in these circles over ans over and- a knock sounded at my door. I paused, turning my skull to said door. "IT'S SANS.. MAY I COME IN, BROTHER?" I didn't say anything. Willed him to go away. He didn't. "I'M COMING IN, OK? PLEASE DON'T GET MAD, BUT I NEED TO SPEAK WITH YOU." He opened the door and closed it behind him. Why didn't I lock that door? "I WON'T ASK WHY YOU DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING SOONER. I WON'T EVEN ASK HOW YOU'VE GOTTEN AROUND WITHOUT RUNNING INTO EVERYTHING, OR HOW IT HAD EVADED US FO SO LONG."
"... then what're ya gonna ask?"
"ARE YOU OK? YOU SEEMED VERY UPSET.." Of course. I should've expected nothing more. This is why my bro is so cool. "i'll be fine. just a little upset that i hadn't said anything sooner." Sans nodded. "DON'T BEAT YOURSELF TO MUCH ABOUT IT! And I'm always willing to lend an ear if you need?" I snorted. "we don't have ears bro."
"YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT!" I laughed and made my way to the bed.

The room went silent as memories buzzed through my head. Sans sighed, and got up, presumably to leave when I cracked. "i was.. i don't know.. 6? 7? when it happened. you an' mom (just go with it) where doing your scientist stuff and i got bored of sitting around in the break room. i snuck off to explore the place. it was so big, ya know? the core was practically calling my name, begging me to explore it. i- it- wrong place.. wrong time.. it was my fault, sans.. it was my fault that she fell down. if i hadn't been there when the facility malfunctioned, she'd still be here and i wouldn't be blind. stars i'm so sorry!" I curled in on myself, crying. "Oh.. oh Papyrus.. no. Shh, shh, it's ok. I don't blame you at all! You were just a child. It's ok, it's ok.." Sans hugged me, rubbing soothing circles into my ribs and spine. Just as when we were kids. I couldn't help smiling, knowing that Sans didn't blame me. He truly was the best.
