Personality: Maya is a sweetheart and is considered by most of her peers to be the mother of her friend group. She tries her best to make sure everyone around her is perfectly okay and well mentally compared to herself. Her sweet nature has been told by many in her department to be something she will die for, but she sees no problem in that if it's for the greater good. To add to her loving nature, it takes a lot for her to get angry, but that's no issue since no one has ever seen her angry. It could also be because of her religious ways and practices that she's so virtuous. If you happen to have any problems, she will immediately lend a helping hand no matter what.

However, she's not perfect. Maya is very naive and can also be clueless sometimes. You can tell her an exact location and she'll find herself at the exact opposite place unless someone properly escorts her. You could hold her at gunpoint and unless she's asked or pushed by her friends, she'd probably smile and talk to the captor as if they're lifelong friends. It should also be noted that flirting with her may or may not get you anywhere as she'll simply tell you a fun fact or question what exactly you meant. Dense or not, Maya is a dependable friend and ally to her peers. Anyone would be blessed to have her in their lives.

Pros/Strengths: Maya is a smart female despite being naive, proving herself to get out of problematic issues rather easily unless proven to be physical obstacles, which she will easily be overburdened by. Her devil contract made with a special devil also makes her a force to be reckoned with. Though she rarely uses her powers, when she does, it can prove to be catastrophic for her foes. She's also a master chess and Japanese Go player, but she doesn't like to brag as she's modest.

Cons/Weaknesses: She's just... She's sometimes too nice. She's not gullible by all means. If she hears something troublesome or wrong, she will decline. But she is someone who is willing to help almost anyone she sees in peril. Her bravery and drive has almost gotten some of her allies and herself killed, which is why some of her higher ups say she'll be the first to die in her team. She also has a horrible sense of direction, which has led her to missing missions entirely.

Contract?: Atomic Devil - Maya, during a desperate and devastating time in her life, made a deal with the Atomic Devil in exchange for both of her middle toes. She has the ability to ask for a beam of light compressing intense radiation and energy to slam down onto her body, destroying everything around her. Her power is strong enough to kill even the deadliest devils... But there's major drawbacks. She has to sit with the devil internally to sign paperwork for a single hour in order to use it. And even when she does, she can only destroy what's within six feet of her because of her height. She thinks it's neat as a last resort, but not as an everyday ability.

Likes: Maya loves ramen. Especially when it has extra pork belly in it. She has joked about wanting to eat it everyday for the rest of her life, but knows she can't because of monetary issues. She also likes crepes, seaweed chips, playing chess, learning fun facts, sightseeing (but she'll get lost), giving advice, getting to know her co-workers/allies, Power, Denji's antics, stargazing and talking to her devil sometimes.

Dislikes: She really doesn't like using her powers given by the Atomic Devil. She just thinks they're really useless unless used as a final resort. But she at least feels fine enough to know she made a great friend. She also doesn't like being lied to, being one of the weaker links of her team, sometimes Himeno, sometimes Kishibe, having to clean up after missions, getting lost, not getting jokes or advances thrown at her, the religious jokes about her and near death experiences (she just finds it annoying).

Backstory: Before joining Division 5 and later moving to Division 4, Maya was a girl whose main focus was getting a degree in psychology, getting married and living a long healthy life. During her time in high school, she fell in love with a woman. At first she felt sinful of lusting for a female until she actually talked to her and listened to her thought provoking philosophy on religion. This led to the two of them connecting on a deeper level, but only suffered when they were ridiculed for their same sex relationship. One night they were both attacked and almost violated by fiends until Maya's lover saved her and sacrificed herself for her safety.

Trying to go to God as a Catholic, Maya met the Atomic Devil, who struck a deal with her. The two of them became acquainted with one another before Maya, in a blood rage act of revenge, found the killers of her girlfriend and released a beam down on her, killing them all in a bloody spree. She was arrested not long afterwards, but was recruited by the Public Safety Devil Hunters since they saw potential in her.

She joined Division 5 for a while until she was transferred to Division 4 to be a semi caretaker of the younger recruits.

Family/Friends:

Power

Maya likes Power even if Power makes fun of her sometimes. She really enjoys how when she's making her a meal and serving her, she loves how she gets so excited and giddy. Though she can be much, Maya never sees Power as a problem in her life, but more of a challenge she loves to embrace. That being said, she doesn't let her get off the hook if she does something she doesn't approve of. She is not afraid to pop her hand. To add, sometimes Power will become upset when Meowy gives Maya his attention.

Denji

Denji and Maya have a friendly mother-son like relationship. Unlike other peers, Denji will find Maya questioning his health mentally and physically. When he's dealing with blood loss, Maya will try her best to nurse him back to full power again, even willing to give him some of her own blood. At first, Denji had flirted and tried to get with Maya, but after she admitted that she'd go to jail if they were to date and even confessed to liking girls more than boys, he backed off. Either way, the two look out for one another.

Atomic Devil "Atom" - Atom is Maya's contract devil. In exchange for her toes, he not only gave Maya his power but also sometimes resides in her head every blue moon. The two mainly talk when she needs to sign papers, but she also talks to him when she feels she needs some advice or someone to talk to. At first, Atom hated her for being Catholic and easily giving up her limbs. But after a while, he came to enjoy her company. But he will never say that out loud...

Love Interest:

Makima

... Okay. So saying Makima is a love interest or crush of Maya would be an overstatement. Maya thinks Makima is a mysterious but fine woman and yes she does think she's beautiful. If the cards were set up well for them to date and live together, Maya would gladly take it. But she wasn't chasing it. She wasn't chasing Makima. She just thought the Makima could make a great friend and if the future shows a relationship for them, she'd be here for it. Until then, she wasn't going to kiss her behind or treat her like a queen, but like a human. One that she would love to learn more of inside and out and even hangout with sometimes... Something about that can be daunting for Makima. But also interesting...

Himeno

Himeno reminds Maya a lot of her ex-girlfriend, which can be good and bad. Through her, she sees the eternal flaws her passed lover had but also what she could have become if she was still alive. But it is toxic to compare people to your exes, how about her as a person? Well, Maya enjoys that Himeno can have such a good balance between fun and serious. She also likes how she tries to keep Division 5 under order like a family more than a team. That being said, she doesn't like how Himeno has so much on her plate and would do anything to help her relieve her own stresses. She wished someone cared enough to take care of her... Wait. She does, doesn't she.

Other: Maya doesn't use her power so much and instead uses a modified entrenching tool as her weapon. She smokes but doesn't drink. She stands at 6'2" and is light enough for even Kobeni to carry. She's a Catholic which makes many of her co-workers and peers joke about her religion and her being psychotic since she made a devil contract.
