Drabble - Aaron Hotchner
You weren't certain how you got to this point. Six months ago, you had a good job and made decent money. Your apartment was small but all yours. In your free time, you hung out with your friends or watched Jack as a favor to Aaron. You'd been friends with Jack's mom and had done your best to help since her death.
Soon, you were the only sitter Jack wanted and you found yourself staying over when Aaron had to go out of town on a case. When your lease came due and your landlord wanted three times the rent, Aaron offered you the spare room. It made sense, you were there all the time anyway. And two weeks later when you complained about the drive to work, Aaron told you to quit and he'd pay you to watch Jack full time.
Well, you'd be stupid to turn that down wouldn't you. But your complete change of home and occupation wasn't what concerned you. No, that would be how domestic it had all become. Just this evening, for instance, the three of you had curled up on the couch and watched a movie together. When you shivered halfway through, Aaron shifted Jack to his lap and motioned you closer. He'd wrapped an arm around you and pulled you into his side. You were warmer, but oh so confused.
The movie was over and Aaron had taken Jack up to bed. You laid down on the couch with a pillow under your head and a blanket pulled over you. Though you were wide awake, you closed your eyes as you thought. You were crazy about Aaron and Jack both. You just wish you had the nerve to bring it up. But if he didn't feel that way where did that leave you? Homeless and jobless, that's where.
Aaron's footsteps padded back into the room and paused briefly. You kept your eyes shut, afraid if you looked at him, he'd be able to see everything you were feeling. The blanket was pulled up and tucked around your shoulders, but you didn't hear Aaron leave. Just as you were about to ask if something was wrong, lips brushed your forehead. "Goodnight, Y/N," that deep voice rumbled.
As his steps moved away from you, you sucked in a breath and gathered your nerve. "Why do you only kiss me when I'm sleeping?"
Aaron spun back to you, his eyes wide in surprise. You gave him a soft smile as the two of you just watched one another. After a moment, he cleared his throat. His cheeks slightly pink he asked, "Would you like me to kiss you when you're awake?"
Pushing yourself up on one elbow, you grinned. "I would like that very much."
