Another Chase in CHB (old)

(Disclaimer: this would most likely take place after BoO and in between Hammer of Thor but before a few events from ToA. Also I don't own the picture.)

It was supposed to be a normal day for Annabeth. Well as normal as for a demi god at Camp-Half blood. She woke up and ate breakfast with her half siblings. Went off and taught Ancient Greek to the new campers and trained on her own for a bit. You know the usual for her. She wanted to hang out with her boyfriend Percy because after the war, they needed a vacation. Too bad that wasn't in their vocabulary. Annabeth was walking up to Half-Blood Hill to take in the fresh air and relax for a bit. It has been a hard few months for her. To realize that her boyfriend was missing and that there were other demi-gods out there, to fly all the way to Greece to stop the literal earth from waking up and destroying humanity and to realize that what little of what she would call her mortal family was gone for years only to turn up dead and yet not dead. How does she coop with it? She doesn't, Annabeth makes a plan to cooperate with it and seeks Percy's comfort. Today started out smoothly though even after what happened a few days ago. Camp was still recovering from it and that was good for the morality of the campers. Annabeth took in another deep breath but then spotted a few figures in the distance. She squinted to see who they were. Someone was pulling on the hand of a young girl who seemed scared but whose eyes were flickering around as if to see where monsters would be coming. The person who was pulling her hand was obviously a satyr from the way that they were running. Annabeth has spend enough time with them to understand how they run. There was obviously monsters chasing after them but there was something oddly familiar about the last human figure. They appeared to have long blonde hair and wearing comfortable clothes for like hiking or for that weather in between winter and spring. Their movements were familiar to Annabeth but she couldn't put her finger on it. What she did know is that those people were in trouble.

She shouted at the nearby campers to watch themselves for a possible new camper is being chased by monsters. The nearest campers ran up to where she was and squinted at the figures. "Yep, looks like they are being chased by monsters. Looks like a runaway hellhound or something else," one of them said. One of the Apollo campers held out their bow. "Should I?" They asked. "Tch, yeah right Cherry. Remember what happened last time?" One of the Ares campers snorted. Cherry looked crestfallen but Annabeth took out her knife. "Anyone else who does archery stand by. We'll need to shoot whatever is behind them," she ordered. Someone else who takes archery but isn't apart of the Apollo's cabin stepped up. They aimed an arrow to where the monster was and waiting for an opening that wasn't going to hit any innocents.

There! They shot an arrow at the monster and it turned to dust. The girl and satyr were getting closer and the other figure seem to take a relief breathe before following their companions. Annabeth locked eyes with Cherry and the Ares camper and proceeded to walk where the satyr met up with them. "Clover right?" Annabeth asked the satyr. "Yep *huff huff* found another one. All the way in Boston," he explained. Boston? Annabeth thought. "It must have took a long time to get here," Cherry piped up. "Yes and no. We had some help," Clover pointed to the figure. Annabeth almost forgot how to breathe. "Annabeth?" The figure asked. "Annabeth you know this guy?" The Ares camper asked. Annabeth flunged herself at the figure not answering the Ares camper's question. And then she started hitting him. "Ow! Ow! Geez cuz," the person yelped. "Whoa whoa Annabeth what's wrong?!" Cherry cried. "Magnus you butt! Why are you even here?" Annabeth asked. Magnus sheepishly smiled, "I couldn't leave this girl and goat behind so I tagged along until they got here." "You could have died (again)," she growled, muttering the last part under her breath so Cherry and the Ares camper couldn't hear her. "Umm Cherry and I are still in the blue here. Who the Hades is this guy and how do you know him?" The Ares camper asked. "Oh right sorry Ben. How do I put it," Annabeth started. Ben scoffed but Cherry seemed intrigued as if Annabeth was going to be telling them a story. "This is Magnus and he's well my cousin from my mortal family," Annabeth explained. Magnus waved his hand like 'sup.' Ben raised his eyebrow up. "Cousin? Yeah and Cherry is my girlfriend," he scoffed and Cherry blushed. "I'm not lying and you got to work on that attitude or I'll be drilling half of Homer's work in your brain with no breaks other than to go to the bathroom," Annabeth said menacing. Ben took a step back. "A-anything but that," he said. Cherry laughed, "Guess sons of Ares have their weaknesses as well!" "Shut up you-," Ben proceeded to call Cherry names and Magnus has flashbacks to his hall mates. "Anyway, Clover what about the girl?" Annabeth asked. Clover motioned the girl to Annabeth. "Don't worry, there will be no monsters here to hurt you now. You'll be with family," he said softly to her. The girl looked at the campers with intelligent blue eyes. "Family?" She asked.

Annabeth felt sympathy for the girl. She remembered what it felt like when she was only seven. Living on her own before she met with Thaila and Luke. "It's alright. You'll have a new family soon. Us," she said softly and the girl smiled. "I never had a family before!" She said cheerfully. She pointed to Magnus. "His friends and he found me," she explained. (Grammar much me???). Annabeth raised an eyebrow and Magnus shuffled his feet. "Well it was mostly Alex and Half-Born before some stuff went down involving a rainbow. Let's just say she thinks we're like her guardians or something but when Clover here promised a new family, she wanted to go," he explained. Annabeth looked at her cousin before remembering that he went through some other stuff that seem normal for demi gods...well demi gods like him and other people. Something about a rainbow huh? She thought. She met the girl's eyes. "What's your name?" She asked. "I'm Susie Penny. I don't know who my mom is," she said almost as if she had rehearsed it. "Ok Clover show her to the cabin that she'll be staying at until she's claimed. Magnus, I'm sure you need to go," Annabeth said. Magnus shrugged, "I guess, I don't have any plans but I'll go back to the place." Cherry and Ben looked confused. What in the name of Zeus's toga is this guy talking about? Was their thoughts. Then someone came tumbling down the hill and crashed into Ben and Cherry, causing them to tumble onto each other. "Aaaaah! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" The person said as Ben shoved Cherry off, blushing furiously. "Den I swear I'll beat your cabin during Capture the Flag!" Ben yelled. Den looked at him. "Is that the best threat you got?" He asked, his glasses loop side. Ben started calling him insults but Den shrugged them off. "Den, do you have a reason being here?" Annabeth asked. "Monsters! Somehow they managed to break through the camp's barriers! We need help now!" He said. Annabeth jumped. Great and I thought this was supposed to be an easy day, she thought. "Stay here," she ordered Clover, Susie and Magnus. Magnus looked like he was about to protest but Annabeth shot him a glare that he backed down. "Amanda stand by!" Annabeth ordered the girl with the bow. "Está bien!" The girl called back. Annabeth held up her knife and ran up the hill with Cherry, Ben and Den close by. There was indeed monsters everywhere. Hellhounds and other monsters that Annabeth can't immediately recognize. Cherry brought out her bow and tried to shoot them but she kept missing. "How many times do I have to tell you?" Ben said, pulling out his sword and slashed at a hellhound that turned to dust as soon as his sword touched it. "Geez you're so mean," Cherry muttered and pulled out a knife to stab at monster. Den pulled out a small handgun. Modern and not super realistic sure but Den's father was head cop and Den knows gun safety ins and out so he knows how to be careful. Besides, the bullets were made from Celeste Bronze (??? Help) so they wouldn't hurt mortals. Still pretty painful for the monsters though. Den shot monsters that were close to hurting the other campers. His aim was pretty impressive. Not bad for an Aphrodite child. Annabeth did her usual thing and helped the other campers. "A-annabeth. Watch out!" Cherry cried as a hellhound tackled Annabeth from behind. "Gah!" She cried. The hellhound reared up and was about to slam its paws on her before it turned to dust. Annabeth lie there in shock as Magnus held out his hand to help his cousin. "Hey cuz you alright?" He asked. "Magnus did you?" Annabeth asked as she took her cousin's hand. "Seems like it. That girl Cherry helped me cross. Don't worry," he assured her as she looked like she was about to ask him something. "Clover and Susie have crossed safely so no need to be worried about them." Annabeth let out a sigh, "Thank gods."

(Small timeskip to a daughter of Hecate being scolded for scaring them with the illusion of the monsters.)

"And you'll need to clean the Hecate cabin until it's summer," the head of the Hecate said sharply to the girl whose name was Dream. "Ok," she said gloomy. "No magic," the head said. "What! But!" Dream cried. "No buts," the head said. "Tch fine," Dream stormed off. "So Annabeth, who's this young man?" Chiron asked. "Oh Chiron, this is my cousin Magnus Chase," Annabeth said and Magnus looked up and down at Chiron. "So you're half horse. That's interesting," he said as he clutched the pendant that hang from his neck. "Hello young Magnus. I am Chiron, I'm activities director here at Camp Half-Blood. I hope you enjoy your temporary stay here until you return to where you need to go," Chiron explained. "Yeah I won't stay that long," Magnus said. "So where is he staying? I'm not inviting him to the Ares cabin. He won't fit in," Ben grumbled. "You seem like a sunshiny type of person. Apollo cabin!" Cherry said. "Not so sunshiny since your dad became mortal," Ben said and received a slap on the head from Cherry. "We don't talk about that. Dad will find his way to becoming a god again," Cherry said. Magnus took a step back. "Thanks for the offer but I'm not really going to stay for that long. I suspect a day and a night. I need to get back to Boston ASAP," he explained. "Chiron, I know this may sound odd but could Magnus stay at the Athena cabin until he needs to leave even though he's not a Athena child?" Annabeth asked. Chiron looked a bit surprised at this request before nodding. Magnus gave his cousin a confused look. "How does that work?" He asked. Annabeth then proceeded to explain how does the cabin works. "Ah. Yeah makes sense. I'll honestly stay anywhere really," he said. "Hey hang on. You're a demi god right? Who's your godly parent?" Ben asked. "You wouldn't know," Magnus said. "Try me," Ben folded his arms. Annabeth glared at Ben, warning him to not push it. Ben flinched. "I'll go back to my cabin," he muttered. Chiron walked over to the Athena cabin with Magnus and Annabeth following him. While they were following him, Magnus kept asking Annabeth questions about Camp Half-Blood and even asked about the rock wall with lava. Annabeth answered them swiftly.

(Skip introductions because I'm tired)

"So tomorrow, you'll be leaving?" Susie asked. "Yeah, I have to do something," Magnus explained. "Awww, you won't even know who's my godly parent," she pouted. "It'll be alright," Magnus said. Annabeth was watching them smiling. "When did you get so good with children?" She asked. "Hey I can relate to her in a homeless level," Magnus explained. "She was homeless?" Annabeth asked. "How do you think we found her?" Magnus asked. "Fair point," Annabeth said. They were walking towards the main table where there was two people sitting there. One was blonde and the other had black hair. "Hey Will, Nico. I want you to meet my cousin," Annabeth said. "Sup I'm Magnus," Magnus waved slightly. Will smiled, "I can see the family resemblance." Nico just looked at Magnus as if he was studying him. "Umm hello? It's rude to sta-," Magnus said but Nico interrupted him with "You're supposed to be dead. Why aren't you dead?" Magnus just stared in shock. Annabeth glared at Nico. "What can't I ask a simple question?" Nico asked. "You can't just go around telling people that they're dead!" Will snapped. "What? But it's true and I want to know why isn't he dead," Nico explained. Magnus and Annabeth exchanged a look. Uh oh. What are we going to explain it to them?

(Done with that one-shot. Heh heh cliffhanger. I'll continue this later. Also I tried to get their personalities right so sorry if I get some of their personalities wrong. Yeah only Nico is aware that Magnus is technically dead. Ben, Cherry, Amanda and Den are Oc's of mine so don't even bother trying to look them up because I came up with them. Hope you enjoy it. Cya in the next one -Flare)
