Robin Scherbatsky- Reassurance (c)
How I Met Your Mother One Shot
Robin entered your shared apartment and made herself known from the loud and angry sigh along with the slam of the front door, making it hard to ignore the fact that she had gotten home. You looked up from your book to see her pissed off expression as she threw her handbag onto the floor, not caring that it would likely be a hazard for one of you later.
"You okay?" You questioned, knowing that no one that would describe themselves as okay would act as Robin currently was.
"I'm covering the giant hotdog across town tomorrow," she said through gritted teeth.
You cocked an eyebrow at her. "Isn't that a good thing?"
The look she gave you sent shivers down your spine, fear rushing through you. Clearly you were wrong, but you were too scared to ask her why so waited until she told you.
"It's just another crappy joke story. I'm so useless at being a reporter, I can't even get a story that has any matter to it, they are all just complete crap that have absolutely no substance to them," she huffed.
"Just because they aren't world changing stories doesn't mean you aren't a good reporter," you stated.
She shook her head. "No one cares about my stories. No one cares about me. I'm never going to succeed in this line of work. I try so hard and it doesn't pay off in any way at all."
You frowned at her. She did tend to have a more pessimistic outlook on life, but this was pretty bad even for her.
"Hey, Robin, calm down," you said softly. "Remember your worth. You have loyal fans that watch you every single day, they don't care about how substantial or stupid your stories are, they are just glad to hear them from you. One day your bosses will realise how great you are but until then, you are showing how willing you are to work even if it isn't the best job. You are going to find your way soon, I promise you."
Robin gave you a gentle smile feeling slightly reassured by your kind words. Even if you couldn't change what was upsetting her, you did your best to just make her know it isn't as bad as it seems, and you will always be there for her when she needs you.
"Thank you, Y/N," she smiled softly. "I appreciate it."
"Anytime, Robin."
