William Brandt- Liquid Courage (h)
Mission Impossible One Shot
There was always a point in a friendship where something could change – feelings would develop, and it would get to a stage where the two of you would be in a grey area.
It was the grey area where friends were too simple of a label but being in a relationship was a way away.
You and William were in that grey area.
The two of you had worked together for a good few years and had been friends throughout that time.
It has only been recently that you had realised something had changed for you – you thought of him more and it wasn't as if you were just wondering what he was doing; you wanted to know how his day had been, if he was in a good mood or a bad one, if anything had bothered him that day.
The fact that you had deeper feelings for William had unnerved you because of course you had no clue how he felt.
Both of you had always been close, close enough that you got mistaken for a couple quite a bit, so it wasn't as if the notion of the two of you being together was insane.
William had invited you over for a takeout that evening with a movie on too.
Of course, you wanted to spend time with William, why wouldn't you, but you were finding it difficult to spend time with him without wanting to blurt something out.
The night had gone pretty normal so far, the two of you had been cuddled up with the movie on in front of you whilst the food was on its way.
"Will, can I talk to you about something?"
He looked down at you in confusion but nodded his head in agreement.
"I don't really know how to word any of this, or how you'll take it, but we've always been told to speak our minds right?"
William didn't respond to you but kept his eye on you.
"Look, it's no surprise that we've always been close," you stated. "But recently it's become more for me."
He sighed, standing up and walking to his kitchen causing you to panic before sitting up and looking over the back of the sofa.
"What are you doing? I'm trying to talk to you."
"I know," he acknowledged. "However, neither one of us is drunk enough for this conversation."
You glared at him slightly. "Why on earth would you want to be drunk for a conversation like this?"
"It's called liquid courage for a reason Y/N/N."
"And you need courage why?"
He sighed. "As this conversation is unnerving – I don't exactly go and ask a girl out every damn day now do I?"
You smiled at him. "You want to ask me out?"
He breathed out, laughing as he did so. "For quite some time now, yes."
"Didn't need any liquid courage for that now did you?"
"You've not given me an answer," he walked back towards you as he spoke.
You shrugged. "I've not been asked a question."
He rolled his eyes in a joking fashion. "You're a spy, you can infer."
"Inferring does not always give the most accurate image."
He chuckled as he ran a hand through his hair. "You're going to make me work for this aren't you?"
"You've kept me waiting."
William reached you, pulling up so that you were kneeling on the sofa and therefore somewhat level with him.
You smiled at him as he leant down to be eye level with you.
"Would you do me the upmost honour of becoming my girlfriend?"
