Paige Dineen- Idiot (c)
Scorpion One Shot
"I don't understand," you frowned, discarding the book onto the table next to your hospital bed.
You could remember your life, remember the team you worked with, your girlfriend, getting your degrees, but you couldn't remember anything that had determined you to be a genius. You knew you were part of Scorpion, a group of geniuses whom assisted Homeland Security with anything that they were over their head with. However, after waking up in a hospital bed after a car crash, you felt dumber than a plank.
"The doctor said it's normal to have a trouble recalling some things after your head injury," Paige smiled softly, holding your hand to comfort you.
She had already kicked out the other four, telling them that flaunting their intelligence was never going to make me feel better.
"They warned me I'd end up like this," you sighed.
All you'd ever had was your brain, it helped you rationalise how horrible people were throughout schooling and let you have more degrees than most people knew existed.
"Like what?" Paige asked, a concerned expression on her face.
"An idiot," you wailed, collapsing back into your cushions, instantly regretting it due to the pain that it caused you.
Other than the head injury, you were pretty lucky when it came to your injuries. A fair bit of bruising and a far few cuts but there wasn't really anything major that had happened minus the head injury.
Paige gave you a sympathetic smile, moving your fringe out of the bandages on your head. She leaned in to kiss the small section of skin that was visible on your forehead.
"Even if you never remember anything again, you'd never be an idiot," she smiled softly.
"I am an idiot," you frowned. "I can't even do simple maths anymore."
She rolled her eyes. "That wasn't simple maths Y/N. Sylvester wrote an equation that only a handful of humans can even understand let alone solve."
"I'm a big stupid dummy," you sighed, realising you had to except the fact the team may no longer need you as you may not be one of them anymore.
Paige shook her head, sitting on the edge of your bed so that she could gently cup your cheek in her hand to comfort you.
"Toby said you'll most likely get your memory back within a couple of days at the most. And even if you aren't a genius, it doesn't mean you're an idiot, I'm not a genius but I'm pretty happy. No matter your intelligence, I love you for you and that's not changed," she smiled softly, leaning in to kiss you.
"I love you Paige."
"I love you too."
