Castle One Shot

Never did you imagine that you would be so nervous to meet people. Your boyfriend was a detective, but you had never met anyone at his work, nor did they actually know you existed. You understood that Javier wanted to have a peaceful relationship without his colleagues interfering, so you never pressed the issue, not minding too much. However, once you fell pregnant Javier knew he had to tell his colleagues and they deserved to know more about him than they did.

Granted he put it off as you were six months pregnant when he finally decided to take you into his office to meet his three closest friends. You knew all about them, so it only made you more nervous that these people you knew so much about wouldn't like you once they actually met you.

Javier gave your hand a gentle squeeze, easily noticing the concern on your face. He smiled at you softly, kissing the top of your head as the lift dinged, telling you that you were both at the right floor to visit his work place and colleagues.

He led you through many strangers, taking you towards a desk where three people were sat around, all of which you instantly recognised even if you had never met them before.

"Esposito," One of the men said, that you were pretty certain was Kevin Ryan.

"Hey," Javier smiled.

"You've got today, off don't you?" The woman asked.

"Yeah, but I wanted to introduce you to someone," he grinned, gesturing to you.

You awkwardly smiled at them as the three of them moved to their feet, looking rather confused by your presence, especially your rather swollen pregnant stomach.

"Who's this Esposito?" The other man smirked.

"Um... this is my girlfriend Y/N," he smiled, squeezing your hand again, but this time to reassure himself rather than you.

"Girlfriend?" Kevin exclaimed. "Since when?"

Javier ran a hand through his hair, giving you an apologetic smile, knowing the hell that was about to occur due to the secret he'd held from them.

"Just over three years," he winced.

"What?" All three of them exclaimed.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Kate frowned.

"I've seen how you guys are with your relationships, hounding each other about them, not being able to have anything like peace. I'm sorry for not telling you, but we wanted a quiet life, especially with a daughter on the way," he stated, wrapping an arm around you.

It wasn't much of a surprise for them as you were visibly pregnant but you knew this would be a long visit to his work and they were never going to let the two of you have a moment of peace again.
