Eric Coulter- Underestimated: Part 2 (h)
Divergent One Shot
Living in the same place as someone when you were trying to ignore them wasn't exactly the easiest.
Eric was fully aware of the fact that you were pissed off with him – it wasn't as if you were trying to hide it, because you wanted him to know.
You weren't prepared to let him get away with how he had acted as it just wasn't on for him to be so caveman like.
Of course, you understood him being worried, you completely got why he was protective but all you wanted was for him to at least accept that you had a job to do in the faction.
He'd tried to talk to you multiple times, and you lived in the same flat so that just made it more awkward.
The engagement ring that you had given him back hadn't moved from his bedside table – he had put it back in its box, but it had stayed there ever since you had taken it off of your finger.
A part of you regretted that decision, of course you did, but you did it to make a point; one that you wanted to sink in with Eric.
It had been a little over two weeks since you and Eric had had your rather irritated discussion.
You weren't expecting Eric to be sat on the sofa when you got back, with the ring box in his hands.
He looked up as soon as the door shut behind you.
"Can we please talk?" he practically begged you.
You tried to disguise the shock at his vulnerability, but you were ultimately unsuccessful.
"And before you ask why I've waited two weeks," he pre-empted your question. "I wanted to give you time to cool down, and hopefully not hate me as much."
Shaking your head, you sat down next to him. "I never hated you Eric."
He chuckled dejectedly. "Could've fooled me."
"Well you can't blame me considering you practically staked your claim in front of all the initiates and Four!" you exclaimed to him. "You have no right to tell me what I can and can't do Eric, you know that."
He sighed but nodded in agreement. "I do know Baby, and I want to say sorry for acting like such a twat.
"Yeah you were a twat," you agreed with him.
Eric sat there for a few moments in silence and you did eventually realise that the past couple of weeks had had an impact on him.
You sighed, reaching out to hold his hand gently. "I never wanted for you to be upset Eric," you told him in a soft tone. "I want to marry you, you know that, but I felt that if I didn't tell you how I felt about everything then it would've gotten too much for me."
He opened up the ring box. "Please will you wear this again?"
You smiled at him before allowing for him to slip the ring back onto your finger.
"I apologise Baby, I really do."
Nodding in acknowledgment, you pulled him into a hug. "How about you demonstrate a fight with me next time?"
Eric smiled and chuckled at your words. "It would be my absolute pleasure."
