Yorkie- Forever Together: Part 2 (c)
Black Mirror One Shot
55 Years Later
You shuffled through the post, most of which was rubbish, with a couple of letters that were of some form of importance. Yorkie made her way over to you with a mug of tea in each hand. She handed you one as you pulled out the newspaper from the bottom of the pile, discarding the rest of the paper to the coffee table. Yorkie sat down by your side, supporting her back as she sat down.
Taking a sip of your tea, you let out a sigh of happiness.
"Thank you, Love," you smiled warmly.
Yorkie leaned in to kiss you as you unfolded the newspaper. Most of the news was uninteresting, real life becoming more technologically relied and more like a dystopia with each day. Yorkie read with you, let out a distasteful tut at most headlines due to the stupidity of what the world was becoming. The only good thing in the world was your wife.
As you turned a page, the headline caught your interest. The article explained the new popularity of a simulation called San Junipero. It had been in the news for quite some time, and you had seen in advertised at the local hospital, but you never thought it'd be as popular as it was. Most people upon death decided to move over to the simulation and anyone able to get the trial of it in life were jumping at the chance. At the end it detailed that anyone aged seventy-five or over were eligible to get a free trial of San Junipero.
You turned to Yorkie. The two of you had been married for near to thirty years, being together for over sixty years all together. You'd always said one life wasn't going to be enough, wanting an eternity together but the more you aged, the less it seemed likely and the less happy you became with each new ache and pain. However, if you were able to have eternity together whilst in your prime, it seemed perfect.
"Did you read that?" You asked pointing to the article.
"It seems too good to be true," she smiled softly, holding onto your arm dearly. "Oh, I do hope it's true."
"I hope so too," you smiled back. "We can phone the doctors tomorrow about the trial and see if it is really as good as they say it is?"
Yorkienodded her head, kissing your once more. "Maybe eternity together isn'timpossible after all."
