Scream One Shot

Work had been hectic, Emma hadn't turned up meaning you were left as the only barista at the Grindhouse on a Friday afternoon. You were overworked and very much ready to go have a well-deserved nap. Even though it was your birthday, you would rather just sleep seen as you spent the rest of the day at work and no one seemed to have remembered- not even your boyfriend.

You opened your front door happy to be home and away from work. Granted you were still a little pissed that your boyfriend and friends hadn't even said happy birthday and had been avoiding you a lot, but sleep would solve that.

Switching on the light everything seemed normal for just a moment.

"Surprise!" A voice screamed as someone jumped out at you.

Without thinking, due to how many terrible things had happened recently in Lakewood, you let out an ear-piercing scream, lunging forward to allow your fist to collide with the persons jaw.

You jumped back, instantly being terrified by the person you saw groaning and clutching their jaw.

"Noah!" You shouted clutching your hand to your chest.

"Happy birthday," he groaned wiping the blood away from his face.

From around the door frame, Audrey appeared trying to hold in her laughter.

"Told you it was stupid," she smiled, biting her lower lip to try and not burst into laughter.

"Thanks," he frowned.

"I'm sorry for hitting you Noah," you said softly hesitantly reaching out to cup his cheek so that you could look at the damage you had caused. "But it was a completely stupid idea Noah. With what is going on at the moment, I thought you were going to hurt me. How was I supposed to know that you were the one screaming and jumping out at me?"

He looked down sadly realising the flaw in his plan.

"I'm sorry Y/N/N, I should have thought it through," he sighed.

You couldn't help but smile at him. It was a sweet idea and it was certainly nice to know that he had remembered your birthday but he didn't have the smartest way to have shown it.

"It's okay," you smiled softly. "I'm sorry Audrey, can you keep everyone busy for a moment, I think I need to clean up this idiot."

She nodded and headed back into the living room to talk to the other people that filled the room to celebrate your birthday with you.

"Come on, let's get you cleaned up."

Noah leaned in to kiss you, but as soon as your lips touched he winced back in pain from you hitting him. You winced also, upset that you had hurt him, even if it had been technically an accident due to you being worried and slightly scared.
