Scream One Shot

The darkness quickly burst into light as your body shook uncontrollably. It took a moment for everything to become clear as you opened your eyes, the light from the overhead ceiling light burned your view. As you attempted to focus on what was around you, you could see the concerned look from your boyfriend Noah. He had pained and tired eyes, dark circles hanging under them, tears fighting to escape them. You didn't know what had brought him to such a state but seeing him like that only added to the fear and sadness that had boiled within you from the nightmare you had been woken from.

"Noah... what's wrong?" You whispered, your voice croaking from having only just woken up.

His expression was still pained as he held onto your hand tighter than he probably had planned to. You felt terrible knowing that he was sad, so you wanted to do everything in your power to make sure it was okay for him.

"You were crying in your sleep," he said softly.

Your face dropped, hoping he wouldn't notice. You had been having nightmares for the last few weeks, but you didn't want to worry him about them, the world was a scary enough place without delving into the hell your brain was forming.

"Oh... um..." you didn't know what to say without admitting the mental torment you had suffered recently.

"Did you have a nightmare?" He asked.

You couldn't lie to him. Nodding your head, you looked down not wanting to make eye contact with him. Noah moved closer wrapping an arm around you so that he could hold you close as tears tried to force their way out of your eyes.

"What was it about?"

Tearful words escaped as you tried to explain the recurring nightmare. The murders in Lakewood had fallen into you one place of rest, terrifying you and breaking your sleep every night. You wished that your dreams could be filled with peace but there had been no relief from the hell.

Noah gave you a tight hug, holding you in a firm and comforting embrace, wanting to make sure that he showed you how much he cared and loved you. He cooed softly, trying to calm you down as tears fell down your cheeks, leaving you in a state.

"It's okay Y/N," he said softly. "You're safe now. I promise you, that you are safe now."

He kept you held close, and assured you of how much he loved you along with the fact that he would forever keep you safe even from the evil that filled the world.
