Nick Burkhardt- Detective (h)
Grimm One Shot
It was a big deal for you to have gotten the promotion to detective in the Portland police bureau.
You were still a relatively young detective, and to have even gotten that title at all at your age was impressive to most people.
Luckily enough, no one in your workplace had realised your true heritage and the fact that you were a fuchsbau.
You kept the secret because it wasn't something you wanted people knowing.
They weren't going to understand the fact that not everyone was the same as the general human population, and they most definitely wouldn't let any form of wesen have a career in society.
The fact that the promotion was around Christmas time made you love the season so much more.
Unfortunately, crime didn't stop for the holidays and that meant you had to go to a scene of a murder with one of your fellow detectives – Nick.
It was officially your first crime scene as a detective, and you were excited to be going down the career path you had always wanted.
Portland was freeing in winter, it was snowing and both you and Nick were bundled up but you knew the snow wasn't going to help the evidence.
"Why does it have to be so cold?" you wondered aloud but Nick laughed in the drivers seat next to you.
He turned to face you momentarily. "Well it is winter."
"I know that. I just am not looking forward to standing out there for however long whilst we figure out what the heck happened."
He smiled at you. "It's nice to see you're so eager."
"I've got a lot to prove."
"No one is expecting you to prove anything Y/N," he spoke in a soft tone. "You got that promotion because you deserved it."
Just as he finished speaking, the two of you pulled up at the crime scene, where the police cars were already.
The both of you got out, and the scene in front of you caused you to gasp – you felt that sensation of letting go of your façade for a few moments.
Blood was spilled all over the snow, two young children were lying in the middle of pools of blood with a teenage boy thrown down at bottom of a slight hill with a seemingly broken skull due to the appearance of it.
When you looked to Nick, he was staring at you weirdly and you panicked.
You quickly excused yourself back to the car that you and Nick had arrived in, which was parked a good ten minutes away from the crime scene due to wanting to preserve the evidence.
"Y/N, wait," you hear Nick call from behind you.
You turned around to face him, your hands shaking slightly. "Nick, please, we're friends and it's Christmas."
He seemed confused at your words. "What are you on about?"
"You didn't see?"
He chuckled. "Oh, I saw, but I'm not like you think I am."
"You're a Grimm," you stated in a whisper. "You're telling me you are nothing like your ancestors who kills wesen like me."
He sighed and shook his head. "Please Y/N, you have to believe me."
You shook your head, causing him to sigh again.
"Have you seen my friends Monroe and Rosalie?" he questioned you, causing you to nod slightly despite being a little confused. "Rosalie is like you, a fuchsbau, and Monroe is a blutbad."
You breathed out shakily. "So, you're not going to kill me?"
He shook his head for the second time, holding a hand out to you. "I don't kill people I like, especially a girl as beautiful as you."
