The 100 One Shot

It was hard being in love with someone whom could never love you in return. She was the commander of the twelve clans of course she couldn't love her second in command. You were nothing compared to her, and love was something that was long forgotten in children tales. She'd said on multiple occasions that love was a weakness and as a commander, weaknesses were far from something that she was willing to acknowledge. Loving her, helped your position of being her second in command, you would fight to your dying breath to know that she was safe.

She was working on the plans to attack the enemy when she turned around to give you a concerned look.

"Y/N?" She asked, knocking you out of your thoughts.

"Commander," you stated, standing to attention.

"Stop with that, we're friends, we don't need the formality. That is why I ask what is distracting you? You seemed to have lost yourself to a world beyond ours," she smiled softly.

You gave her a reassuring smile not wanting to worry her about how stuck in your thoughts you had been.

"Nothing Lexa, just thinking. My apologies," you said gently trying to make sure she didn't realise you were completely lost in thought.

"Don't lie to me."

The two of you bickered over the fact for a while as you kept up your defensive walls whilst she attempted to know what was worrying you. It finally became too much until you snapped.

"I'm in love with you," you snapped.

Instantly you took a step back, terrified about the fact that you had just admitted your feelings to the woman you loved but also to the woman who could send you to your death.

"How long have you felt that way?" She asked civilly.

"Forever. You are so strong and optimistic, there wasn't anyway I couldn't I tried not to, but my heart overpowered my brain," you said in a near whisper.

"Why didn't you tell me?" She questioned taking a step towards you.

You tried not to show your fear, but it was hard.

"You had always deemed love a weakness, I didn't want you to think I was weak. I also didn't want you to think that I would ever imagine you were weak enough to love me too."

She shook her head at you, closing the distance between you, resting her hand onto your cheek.

"Sometimes it pays off to embrace one's weaknesses."

With that she pressed her lips to yours, confirming your worries weren't with reason as she felt the same as you.
