Jughead Jones- Dinner (c)
Riverdale One Shot
Sometimes you wondered why you ended up in your family, sometimes you even wondered how you were related to them. Maybe you had been adopted? You were pretty sure that wasn't the case as you did have the signature red hair that came with the Blossom name. Although in appearance you were certainly a Blossom, in personality it wasn't the case. Your whole family were rather stuck up and looked down on anyone that was lesser than them, and that worried you a lot when it came to the time that you were to introduce your boyfriend to them.
You were sat at the oversized dining table. Next to you was your boyfriend Jughead, whilst your older sister was opposite you, and you parents sat at the respective ends of the table.
The three members of your family were all being sickly sweet, it was completely fake compared to their usual harsh tones forcing you to live up to your name. Although Jughead had never met your parents, he knew that Cheryl was being fake from what he knew of her from school and probably could imagine the same was coming from your parents.
"Sorry, where is the bathroom?" Jughead asked after what felt like forever in the silent glares from your family.
"Second door on the right, try not to touch anything," your mother said with her fake smile on her face.
You gritted your teeth bitterly, not wanting to snap at your parents but not wanting to have to put up with them being mean to you or your boyfriend. He got up and left the room to the silence for a moment.
The silence was actually bliss compared to what was to come.
"I do not like him at all," your mother stated bitterly.
"He's not good enough for you," your father added sticking his nose up.
You could see Cheryl looking rather chuffed with their opinions of Jughead as you knew she had never liked him nor did she want you to be with him as she had made visible a lot.
"Why would you ever want to date him? He is so... how to put it," Cheryl paused. "Common... underclass... boring."
That was it. It felt as though you were about to crack your teeth in how hard you were gritting your teeth together.
"I don't care. I don't care what you think," you practically shouted, slamming your hands onto the table and standing up.
"Y/N, calm down," you mother stated.
"I will not calm down!" You hissed. "You asked me to bring my boyfriend here, and I knew you wouldn't be happy but I thought you'd at least make him seem welcome, make me seem welcome. But all you have done is be bitter and undermine both of us. I love him, and honestly I don't care what you believe when it comes to us. He is my boyfriend, the person I have chosen to love, you're my family, the people I am forced to love."
The three redheaded people sat there slack jawed not having expected you to ever say anything like that to them.
Someone clearing their throat forced you to turn around, red faced.
"I'll be back at some point," you frowned walking towards Jughead grabbing his hand and pulling him out of the room and the house.
"Y/N," he said softly.
"Don't Jughead. I'm sorry for inviting you tonight. I didn't think they'd be that bad," you sighed.
"Hey, it's okay, I am just glad you love me. Because I love you."
You smiled warmly at him. Maybe this was where you family really was, in those you truly loved not those you were forced to share the name of.
