Gary Preston- Insecure (c)
Miranda One Shot
You were happy as could be in your relationship. You loved Gary with your whole heart for so many different reasons however you didn't have a clue why he was with you. He was handsome, talented and smart; however, you were nothing compared to him. He could have any woman in the world that he wanted; for some reason he settled for you, a nobody from Surrey that didn't have a single redeeming quality in your eyes.
It soon became apparent that you had been lost in thought for quite a while when someone begun snapping their fingers in front of your face. You snapped out of your thoughts to see Gary smiling at you.
"You alright there, honey?" He smiled. "You seemed to be in a different world for a moment."
"Sorry, just thinking," you stated with a fake smile.
You were visiting Gary at the restaurant that he worked in. You had been sat on one of the stools at the bar waiting for him to finish up what he was doing so the two of you could have lunch, however you had lost yourself to your thoughts.
"Thinking about what?" He asked.
"Nothing important," you lied.
Gary cocked an eyebrow at you. He was good at reading you, and he could clearly see through the lies you had been throwing at him.
"Really," you said knowing you couldn't continue this lie much longer.
With one more look, you broke the façade knowing the truth had to come free.
"Why are you with me?" You asked probably too bluntly.
He looked baffled and confused by such a question.
"Why wouldn't I love you?"
You gestured to yourself. "Look at me, I am nothing compared to you."
He shook his head, reaching across the work surface to rest his hand onto yours giving it a gentle squeeze.
"You are so much more than me," he said softly. "You mean the world to me. No... you mean so much more than just the world."
You frowned not certain of his words.
"I know it may be hard for you to believe it Y/N, but I love you. I love you with all of my heart and you are perfect. You are perfect for me and I could never imagine being with someone else since you have been in my life. One day you will see how much you mean to me, even if that isn't today," he smiled softly, lifting your hand so that he could press a kiss onto your knuckles.
"Thank you, Gary," you whispered, your heart truly touched.
"Why are you thanking me?" He asked.
"You put up with me being insecure, and I couldn't be more grateful for that."
He smiled warmly at you. "Anything for you."
