Baby Daddy One Shot

Having a sportsman as a fiancé was always interesting to say the least.

However, your fiancé played ice hockey and that was a very worrying sport to have to watch at times.

You knew they slammed each other against the barriers, and skated at quite high speeds, but that didn't mean you enjoyed seeing the man you loved being pushed around.

That said, Danny wasn't exactly a man to be pushed around on the ice.

You had been around for a good six years and had been dating Danny for five of those years – so you had seen a fair few of his games and knew how he handled the change of club.

Unfortunately, Danny had been traded for the upcoming season and he wasn't too happy with the change.

He liked where he was at and thought he was doing well there, but when they suggested the trade and offered more money he had to think logically.

The season hadn't started yet, and for once Danny wasn't his usual excited over it all.

You found him out on the fire escape at two in the morning, which was very unlike him.

"Why aren't you in bed?" you question as you climbed out the window to stand next to him.

He turned to face you, before sighing.

"Dan? What's wrong?"

He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into him. "I don't want to do this season."

"Why?"

"This isn't my team, I haven't played for them before."

You looked up at him and smiled. "I know Dan, but there's a first time for everything."

"I don't want there to be a first time."

"It's more money."

He sighed again. "I know and that's why I agreed to the trade. But that doesn't mean I wanted to leave where I was."

"I know you didn't but that's what comes with being a professional. It happens."

"I don't like the change."

He hugged you tighter so you snuggled into his chest.

The two of you stood there for a good while, content in each other's company and it seemed that Danny needed the comfort.

After a bit, the cold did start getting to you – considering you were only in Danny's shirt.

When you started to shiver, Danny looked down at you and quickly began to usher you back inside.

"Do you want to go back to bed now?"

Danny smiled, and nodded his head once he had climbed back through the window.

The two of you walked silently back to Danny's room.

You climbed into bed first, and soon enough Danny joined you before cuddling up to you.

He pressed a kiss to the top of your head, resting his head on top of yours.

"I promise you that I will do this," he whispered against your hair. "I'll make you proud."
