Baby Daddy One Shot

Dating a guy who already had a child wasn't something you thought you would do – not because of the fact that they had a child, but more so the impact on the child if the relationship went south and you had been involved in their life.

You'd never thought that much into it until you met Ben.

The two of you met through Tucker. He had decided to set the two of you up on the basis that you seemed like Ben's type.

It had seemingly worked due to the fact that six months down the line, you and Ben were still in a relationship.

To begin with, you were worried about Emma, she was only three years old, and that you would be around her a lot.

You still were worried – but Ben had done nothing but reassure you on the fact that the two of you were going to stay together.

As it was spring, and a relatively nice day, Ben had decided to take Emma out to the park with you, along with Danny and Riley.

You had all set out a couple of picnic blankets and had something to eat, which had been quite enjoyable for the five of you.

Riley and Danny had taken Emma with them to go to the playground, leaving you and Ben lying on the blanket.

Whilst you knew that Ben was fully confident in your relationship, there was still some part of you that was worried that you'd end up disappearing from Emma's life.

You sighed as you turned to rest your chin on Ben's chest.

Ben frowned down at you. "What's wrong Baby?"

"I'm worried."

"About what?" he questioned out of confusion.

You glanced over at Emma playing with Riley, and then back to your boyfriend.

He followed your eyes and sighed at the realisation. "Baby please, I've told you that you don't need to worry about that."

"You can't be so sure Ben. I don't want to end up leaving Emma because we've broken up."

He sighed, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. "So, you'd rather not be involved with her?"

"I want to be there for her, and look after her and be in her life. Of course, I do."

"But you don't want her to be too close to you in case you leave?"

You nodded in agreement. "Pretty much."

"Well how about we ensure you don't leave."

His words made you giggle slightly. "Wanting to kidnap me Wheeler?"

He chuckled in response but shook his head. "Not quite."

"Do tell."

"How about, we make a promise right now."

You smiled at him. "What kind of promise?"

"One that means neither of us are going to leave," he told you. "If the relationship runs its course, then so be it and we have to deal with the consequences."

You nodded in agreement with him.

"However, my dear girlfriend, I have a feeling that we're in it for the long run."

After he spoke, you leant up to press a kiss to his lips and at that moment Emma came running over to the two of you – Danny chasing after her.

Just as you turned she ran into your arms. "Hi my sweet girl."

She giggled at you as you pressed a kiss to the top of her head, and Ben sat up slightly to rub his finger on Emma's cheek.

"Do you want to go back to the swings?" you asked her, and at her nod of agreement you stood up to take her hand and go over with her.

Unbeknownst to you, Ben was watching you go off with his daughter, thinking to himself that he could never let you go.
