The Doctor (Lost Boy)
There was a time when I was alone
Nowhere to go and no place to call home
My only friend was the man in the moon
And even sometimes he would go away, too
You had been alone for as long as you could remember, abandoned by your family in a hospital at birth.
Growing up being tossed from foster home to foster home was less than ideal.
You grew up talking only to the stars, telling them your secrets and stories, wishes and troubles.
The stars listened to your whispers and your screams.
Sometimes it felt like they were talking back when they twinkled, other nights it felt like only your words were echoing back to your as you noted the dimly lit sky.
You were 16 when you filed for emancipation from the state and decided to blaze your own path.
Even the apartment you owned didn’t feel like home.
You were now an adult, the ripe age of 19, and still struggling to find your purpose.
Then one night, as I closed my eyes,
I saw a shadow flying high
He came to me with the sweetest smile
Told me he wanted to talk for awhile
He said, "Peter Pan. That's what they call me.
I promise that you'll never be lonely."
And ever since that day...
One night, your sleep was interrupted by a loud repetitive noise.
You had fallen asleep as soon as you had come in for work, skipping your nightly talk with the stars.
You woke up, getting to your feet in no time.
Your first thought was burglars.
You thought you were insane when you instead saw an outdated, blue, police call box.
A man stepped out of the box.
“Hello, I’m the Doctor,” he beamed at you, “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, Y/N.”
“How do you know my name?” you stammered.
“Let’s sit down. We need to talk,” he said, making himself comfortable on your bed.
You cautiously sat beside him.
“I’ve heard your words, everything you’ve told the stars. I know all about you,” he said, “I’ve been looking for you for years. It’s funny how I find you the one day you are silent.”
“I don’t.. Understand,” you said, struggling to find words.
“You grew up alone, feeling like no one cared what you had to say. Well, I’m here to say I hear you, and I care,” he said, jumping to his feet.
He held out his hand.
“Take my hand, and don’t be scared,” he told you, “You’ll never be alone again.”
You found yourself taking his hand without hesitation.
He pulled you with him into his blue box, stunning you with the large interior.
I am a lost boy from Neverland
Usually hanging out with Peter Pan
And when we're bored we play in the woods
Always on the run from Captain Hook
"Run, run, lost boy," they say to me,
"Away from all of reality."
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free
“This isn’t human,” you declared in awe.
“Of course not, you lot aren’t that advanced,” he chuckled, “It’s alien, Gallifreyan to be exact. It’s called a TARDIS. It stands for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space. I’m a TimeLord.”
“That is utterly amazing!” you exclaimed.
A smile found it’s way to your face.
The Doctor took your hand and gave you a twirl.
“Where do you want to go?” he asked.
“Pardon?” you responded.
“Any time, any planet in the Universe and all the time in the world. Where do you want to start?” he explained.
You paused, thinking over everything.
“I want to see the birth of a star,” you finally decided.
The Doctor’s eyes twinkled with amusement.
“Lovely choice,” he said, turning to the controls, “Are you ready to leave your idea of reality behind?”
“I’ve always been ready,” you said, firmly.
“I like you, Y/N,” he stated as the TARDIS began to shake and made that troubling noise.
He sprinkled me in pixie dust and told me to believe
Believe in him and believe in me
Together we will fly away in a cloud of green
To your beautiful destiny
As we soared above the town that never loved me
I realized I finally had a family
Soon enough we reached Neverland
Peacefully my feet hit the sand
And ever since that day...
The sight of a star being formed had amazed you.
You had been with the Doctor for nearly a month now, and he had decided you were finally ready for a real adventure, not just sight seeing.
He was going to take you to see a planet where one’s deepest wishes would be revealed, and sometimes, they would come true.
That made you curious.
You had no idea what your own deepest wish was.
You knew what you usually wanted, a friend, independence, and to understand your purpose.
You had finally gotten two out of three.
But could a planet really help you discover your place in life?
You weren’t too sure, but when you had first joined the Doctor, you knew that you would be able to put your faith in him.
If he was sure about this planet, so were you.
I am a lost boy from Neverland

And when we're bored we play in the woods
Always on the run from Captain Hook

Landing on the planet was smoother than any landing you had experienced with the Doctor.
The Doctor stepped out first and you realized that he had never mentioned his deepest wish.
You wondered if the planet could also reveal his desires.
The Doctor was immune to most things, and you found yourself secretly hoping this was not one of them.
You followed behind the Doctor, sticking closer.
You realized that you had fallen for the madman, who seemed to know you better than you knew yourself. You knew him very well, as well.
You could communicate through only gazes, and you often found yourself finishing his sentences since he often trailed off.
The Doctor soon took your hand, lacing his fingers through yours as he often did.
You walked around the planet slowly before you approached a tree made of mirror.
Above was your name printed in what looked to be your own handwriting.
“This is for you,” The Doctor pointed out.
You looked into the mirror and saw nothing but you and the Doctor, side by side.
The Doctor looked confused, but then the image changed, showing you two running around and laughing in the TARDIS. The image changed again to play a montage of the pair of you playing around on different planets.
You understood.
Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Wendy Darling,
Even Captain Hook.
You are my perfect story book
Neverland, I love you so,
You are now my home sweet home
Forever a lost boy at last
Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Wendy Darling,
Even Captain Hook.
You are my perfect story book
Neverland, I love you so,
You are now my home sweet home
Forever a lost boy at last
And for always I will say...
“It’s you,” you whispered.
“What?” the Doctor questioned.
“My purpose. My deepest desire is to know my purpose in life,” you explained, “My purpose is to be by your side.”
The Doctor said nothing, but released his hold on your hand.
You couldn’t help but feel like your heart had shattered into pieces.
You both roamed around in silence until you found the tree with The Doctor’s name written on it.
You stood off to the side as the Doctor looked into the mirror.
You didn’t want to intrude, and you feared what it would show.
After a few minutes, the Doctor tapped on your shoulder.
You turned to face him, and was ambushed by his lips on yours.
“What was that?” you blushed shyly when he pulled away.
“You’re my secret wish, a companion that will be by my side forever,” he spoke, holding you close, his thumb strong your cheek gently.
“But I’m human,” you said, wincing because you would have to see reality.
“I don’t think you are. I think you’re a hidden TimeLady/Lord,” he grinned, obviously ecstatic.
“How can that be?” You asked, unsure.
“I saw it. In the mirror. We both regenerated,” he insisted.
“So then… We really are meant for each other?” You questioned.
“Isn’t it obvious?” he chuckled, kissing you once again.
“We were always meant to be.”
