Spencer Reid (Crush)
Spencer fidgeted with the lock to his apartment door, trying to balance the turn of his keys and the phone pinned between his ear and shoulder.
As he entered the threshold, he heard your laugh at a pun he had made.
“Hey, Y/N, I just got home and I’m about to take a shower,” he spoke.
“Of course, thanks for the call, Spence. Have a good night!” you replied.
He hung up the phone and tossed it onto his table.
Your laugh echoed in his ears.
He felt flutters in his stomach, considering calling you back and talking for a while longer.
He shook off the feeling and went to hop into the shower.
I hung up the phone tonight
Something happened for the first time
Deep inside it was a rush
What a rush
'Cause the possibility
That you would ever feel the same way about me
It's just too much
Just too much
Spencer had only met you three months ago, when you joined the BAU.
You two had hit it off immediately because you had made a Doctor Who reference that he laughed at. Since then you had taken to calling him Doctor or Spence. Once or twice, you had even referred to him as 11.
He noticed the feelings he had for you about a month and a half ago, when you had jumped in front of him and taken a bullet from an unsub.
He was so afraid of losing you that he climbed into your ambulance and held your unconscious hand until the doctors forced him away from you, telling him to wait in the waiting room as they brought you into surgery.
Since then, you two had grown inseparable, with Spencer following you everywhere and you always looking out for him.
Why do I keep running from the truth?
All I ever think about is you
You got me hypnotized
So mesmerized
And I've just got to know
Spencer wanted to know, did you feel the things that he did?
Did you stare at him to memorize every detail of his face, or take notes of his smallest habits?
Did you memorize his orders from each take out place the team ordered from on long nights?
Because that’s what he did for you, and then some.
He had to find out if you felt the same, but he didn’t know how to go about it.
He was a profiler, you would think it would be easier for him.
After arguing over strategies in his thoughts, he finally settled on just asking you about it tomorrow at work.
Do you ever think
When you're all alone
All that we could be?
Where this thing could go?
Am I crazy or falling in love?
Is it real or just another crush?
Do you catch a breath
When I look at you?
Are you holding back
Like the way you do?
'Cause I'm trying, trying to walk away
But I know this crush ain't going away
Going away
Spencer walked confidently into the squad room, looking for you everywhere.
You were always earlier than him.
He didn’t see you anywhere.
He sat at his desk, slightly worried.
The elevator dinged and he waited for it to open, hoping it would be you.
It was.
You stepped off, your melodious laugh echoing.
You had a bounce in your step, and coffee in hand.
Another agent stepped off behind you. Spencer recognized him as a new transfer, but didn’t know his name.
He was saying something as he followed your steps.
Anger and disappointment stirred in Spencer’s stomach and he didn’t want to see some other guy flirt with you, but he just couldn’t tear his eyes away.
He watched as you waved goodbye to the agent.
You were still smiling as you looked around the room.
Your eyes landed on Spencer and he wondered if you could see the jealousy and fear in his eyes.
Your gaze dropped to your feet as the smile shrank, making you look as if you were ashamed.
Spencer just focused his gaze on his computer screen, turning around in his chair so his back was to you.
He couldn’t help but wonder in that moment if he was meant to be the tenth Doctor, who would never get his Rose.
Has it ever crossed your mind
When we're hanging,
Spending time, girl, are we just friends?
Is there more? Is there more? (Is there more)
See it's a chance we've gotta take
'Cause I believe that we can make
This into something that'll last
Last forever, forever
It was a slow paperwork day for the team.
You had all tried to make the day more fun, and it ended with JJ asleep at her desk, Derek had turned his into a small football game, Rossi could be seen in his office shooting paper ball baskets, and Hotch had his son Jack with him.
Spencer had pushed your chair to sit at his desk with him.
You had your feet on his lap as you threw small pieces of paper into his hair.
Spencer would stop to tickle you after a while.
Finally, it was time to go home and everyone piled their paperwork between the two of you, except Hotch, who had already finished with Jack’s help.
Spencer watched you as you easily hurried through your half of everyone’s work.
He knew you loved to write, though this wasn’t what you wanted to waste your creativity on.
Spencer realized he had been staring at you too long when you looked back at him and met his eyes.
He quickly snapped his attention back to his work.
A sigh escaped your lips as you turned back to your work, as well.
Were you disappointed or was it just Spencer’s hopefulness?

All that we could be?

Am I crazy or falling in love?

Going away
You had finished your work already and decided to wait for Spencer.
You were going to have a movie night at your place since it was your day off tomorrow.
You were going to split a taxi, at your request since your “body was asleep.”
You were sleeping on his shoulder and he had an arm wrapped around you as he finished up.
The agent from earlier passed by the desk and stopped to look.
Spencer looked up to meet his gaze.
“So you’re the boy,” he heard the agent speak.
“What?” Spencer questioned, confused.
“Y/N and I have been talking these past few days, and I asked her out to dinner, but she said she had feelings for someone else. How long have you been together?” he asked.
“It’s complicated,” Spencer decided to answer.
“Alright, man. Good luck,” the agent waved, walking off.
Spencer’s gaze fell to you.
You felt the same.
At least he knew that now.
Tonight, he was going to make his move.
Dear God, where was Morgan when he needed him?
Why do I keep running from the truth? (why do I keep running?)
All I ever think about is you (all I ever think about)
You got me hypnotized (hypnotized)
So mesmerized (mesmerized)
And I've just got to know
Later, you were leaning on him as you waited outside for the taxi.
He had an arm around your waist to steady you since you were still half asleep.
“Y/N, can we talk?” he asked.
“What’s up, Doctor?” you said softly.
“I need advice on how to ask a girl out,” he spoke.
He felt your whole body stiffen, and it was like you were now fully awake.
“Well, what’s she like?” you responded.
“She’s a bit like you, actually,” he stated.
“Spencer, just find the right moment and ask her to do something with you sometime,” you sighed.
He could hear the bitterness in your tone.
“Thank you,” he whispered.
He could feel you distancing yourself from him.
God, he found it adorable that the girl who could read him better than he could even understand himself couldn’t see his blatant love for her.
The taxi arrived and you both climbed in.
The ride to your apartment was quick and filled with silence.
When you walked through the door, Spencer couldn’t take it anymore.
You both shed your jackets, but you tripped on your own rug and fell into his arms.
You stared at each other before Spencer decided this was his chance.
“Y/N, would you maybe want to go out sometime? On a date? With me?” he stammered.
Do you ever think (ever think)
When you're all alone (all alone)
All that we could be,
Where this thing could go (go)
Am I crazy or falling in love, (crazy)
Is this real or just another crush (another crush)
Do you catch a breath,
When I look at you,
Are you holding back,
Like the way I do,
'Cause I'm trying, trying to walk away,
But I know this crush ain't going away ya ya ya yaaa
(this crush ain't) going away ya ya ya yaaa
(goin' away) going away ya ya ya yaaa
(when you're all alone
All that we could be,
Where this thing could go)
Going away ya ya ya yaaa
You looked utterly surprised before you laughed.
You stood upright and kissed his cheek.
“Of course I would, Spencer,” you grinned.
He placed a gentle kiss on your forehead.
“Now, these movies aren’t going to watch themselves,” you winked.
You went to get the movies out while he got the snacks.
He had a goofy grin planted on his face.
It was definitely more than just a crush.
