You woke up, seeing sunlight drift in.
You looked over to wake up your boyfriend, Raleigh Becket, who spent every night in your room.
However, he wasn't there, only a note.
You were confused.
As you grabbed the note, you couldn't help but think one thing.
"If this is how he's breaking up with me, I'm going to shove this note down his throat," you muttered.
But the note held something more dangerous to your heart.
Raleigh was going out to fight a Kaiju.
You reread the note to make sure you had read it right.
"That dumbass," you hissed.
You got up and got ready to take his place as temporary co-pilot.
As you took your seat, you spotted Yancy next to you.
He was Raleigh's older brother.
He didn't know you and Raleigh were in a relationship, at Raleigh's request.
You looked at the controls.
You thought back to the last time Raleigh had gone to fight the Kaiju.
He had come back half alive, Yancy having to go out and save him.
The pain of having to act indifferent and wait in your room, to find out if your boyfriend survived, was excrutiating.
So, you tried to push it out of your mind.
You noticed Yancy staring at you.
"Everything alright?" you asked.
"Just worried about my brother," he sighed.
"I'm sure he'll be fine. Besides, if anything, he has you," you assured him.
"Thanks...," he trailed off.
"Y/N," you reminded him again.
He never remembered your name.
He blinked.
"Why do I always forget?" he asked.
You shrugged, indifferent.
The stress over trying to keep your relationship with Raleigh a secret was getting to you.
That, mixed with the anxiety of if Raleigh would be okay...
Yeah, you're emotions were eating at you.
"I need a minute," you told Yancey.
"Go ahead," he nodded.
You locked yourself in the restroom for a minute, catching your breath.
You closed your eyes.
"Get over yourself," you mumbled aloud to yourself.
When you managed to clear your head and get rid of the sinking feeling in your chest, your returned and took your seat again.
"Everything okay?" Yancy asked.
You nodded.
"Just think i caught a bug," you lied.
You heard someone behind you.
"That's my seat," the person said.
You turned to see Raleigh.
You stood and noted he had several minor cuts to his face and looked a bit hunched over.
"Glad to see you're okay this time, little brother," Yancy teased.
"I'm more than okay, Yance," Raleigh replied, taking his seat, "I won."
Raleigh looked at you.
"Hear that, baby?" he asked, grinning at you, "I won."
You rolled your eyes and gave him a peck on the lips.
"I'm proud of you," you said, "But pull another stunt like that, I'll kill you."
You began to walk back to your usual position on the Gipsy Danger.
As you walked, Yancy's shout of shock followed you.
"What the hell?"
