Dick Grayson (For niallforever15)
You were making dinner.
You had amazing news to tell your husband.
You were pregnant!
You couldn't wait; He would be so happy.
Dick had promised to be home for dinner.
You knew his past as Robin and how he now helped Batman as Nightwing.
Your phone suddenly began to ring.
You set down the plate you were currently holding to answer.
"Hello?" You answered.
"Hey, sweetie," you heard.
"I'm preparing dinner," you smiled, "I have big news for you."
"Really? I can't wait," he said.
You heard a beeping.
"Hold on, Y/N. I got someone on the other line," he told you before going silent.
"Please don't be Bruce, Please don't be trouble," You silently prayed to yourself.
"I guess I won't be home for dinner," Dick sighed.
"What? You promised, Dick," you reminded.
"I'm sorry Y/N. People need me," he explained.
"I need you too. But i guess that doesn't matter anymore," you replied, hanging up.
You then proceeded to pack away the food you had made special for Dick.
You only left your own plate on the table.
You ate in a sad silence.
You washed the dishes, took a shower, and then proceeded to wait on the couch for your husband to come home.
He didn't come home until a few hours later.
You had to watch the news to stay awake.
No sign of Batman or Nightwing on the TV.
That was weird.
The news practically lived to report on their encounters.
You began to worry.
Dick walked through the door, obviously exhausted.
"Are you okay? What happened?" You questioned, getting to your feet.
You waited as he cracked his back.
"Yeah, Bruce wanted to train for a while," he shrugged.
You were now angry.
You would understand if he had blown you off to save people, but to train?
That could have waited.
He was with Bruce 24/7.
You barely saw your husband anymore.
The one time you really wanted to talk to him, he hadn't been there.
Now, he was going to hear about it.
"Seriously?" You hissed, "That was the emergency? It couldn't have waited?"
Dick stared at you.
"Waited? Why should I make Bruce wait?" He asked, glaring.
"I am your wife and we never see each other at all! You're always with Bruce! We couldn't have just had one nice night to ourselves?" You shouted.
"You're being so overdramatic! Why are you always like this?" He shouted back, rolling his eyes.
"No. You have stopped being there for me for the longest. The last time we actually spent time together was on your birthday, 7 months ago. You promised to always be there for me, remember? One hell of a way to come through," you said in a low voice.
"You're taking this too far. What was so important anyway?" He asked, crossing his arms.
How could you tell him now?
You were far too angry.
You needed to cool off.
You silently grabbed your jacket, putting it on and grabbing your car keys.
"That's right, leave. I don't need you anyway," Dick told you.
You turned to face him.
"We don't need you either," you responded, before making your way to the car.
You drove off quickly.
You finally stopped when you got tired.
You knew it was time to go home.
You waited for the light to turn green.
As it did, you pressed the gas.
You didn't see the driver eating the red light until they T-boned you.
You grabbed your stomach protectively as your vision went black.
You blinked your eyes open, only to see bright white lights.
You kept blinking until you could properly see.
"Y/N? Sweetie?" You heard next to you.
You looked over to see Dick.
"The baby?" Was the first question you asked, throat dry.
He handed you a glass of water.
"Perfectly fine," he smiled.
"How long?" You asked, gulping down the cool liquid.
"3 days," he sighed.
You were both quiet.
"I'm sorry," you both said.
"I promise to be there for you and our baby. All the time," he said, grabbing your hand.
"Let's just put it all behind us," you told him.
Dick climbed into bed, hugging you.
"We're going to be parents," he said, excitedly.
"He or she is not getting named after a bird," you warned.
"Why not?"
