045. one last mission
"Pick up, pick up, pick up." Zendaya silently repeated as she waited for Harrison to pick up the phone. He had to know, and she knew what finding Indigo meant to him.
Once Harrison picked up the phone, she couldn't get a word in because he knew what this was about. "What's wrong?"
"Haz, we..." She paused, and swallowed before admitting the sad truth. "We can't find her."
"You're joking." He said, and Zendaya replied instantly. "Nope."
"Well then I'm going out there myself." Harrison announced, and was ready to hang up before Zendaya stopped him. "Wait!"
"What?"
"Don't do anything stupid, alright?" Zendaya asked, her voice shaky. She knew that this wasn't part of the plan, but there was no other choice. The three girls did the best they could, and it was time to pass the torch to Harrison.
"No promises." He replied, then the two said quick goodbyes and got off the phone. After hanging up, Harrison managed to leave Diego's apartment without making a sound, then made his way out onto the streets.
Zendaya put her phone away, and let out a sigh before walking back over to Jenny and Laura, who were waiting quietly. "Come on, girls. Let's head back to the apartment."
"What's going on?" Laura asked.
"Yeah, we can't exactly just give up, ya know." Jenny said. There was no way she would just let her best friend disappear forever, everyone was aware of that, but they tried their best.
"Harrison's got it covered." Zendaya replied. Jenny and Laura shared a look, and stood up to go back to Indigo's apartment. "Let's go then."

1 hour later
It took Harrison less time than he expected to find Indigo. He could spot her so easily. The signature high pony and knee high boots weren't hard to miss. Plus her petiteness gave her away as well.
"Indigo!" Harrison yelled out.
Indigo heard him, and she knew exactly who it was. There was no use running, so she stopped in her tracks. "Haz-"
Harrison quickly ran up to her, and the two shared a warm embrace. He rested his chin on the top of her head, holding her tight while Indigo wrapped her arms around his body, burying her head in his chest, letting out a quiet sob.
"Thank god you're okay." He whispered, gently kissing the top of her head. She said nothing, and continued letting the uncontrollable tears stream down her face, staining his hoodie.
He let go of her, and she did the same to him. It was the middle of the night, and the wedding was only hours away. There was no going back on this now.
"Come on, we gotta get you back for the wedding." Harrison said, ready to take Indigo back to her place so she could get some sleep before the wedding, but Indigo was refusing.
"What if I don't wanna get married?" She asked. Her mascara was running down her face and she couldn't stop crying. Indigo felt like a complete and utter mess, and she hated feeling this way.
"But why wouldn't you?" He questioned.
"I... I don't think I'm cut out for this!" Indigo exclaimed. Right now she was like a ticking time bomb, and she was going to explode any second. "This is literally the only relationship I've been in!"
Harrison let out a sigh. He knew would regret saying what he was about to say, but it had to be said for the sake of his best friend's happiness. "Indigo, I love you, but you have to marry Tom. Even though it kills me everyday, you two are soulmates."
Indigo knew the context. She knew Harrison still had feelings for her after all this time, but she didn't think it was as serious as love. "You... you love me?"
"I don't wanna talk about it." He looked down, the regret already kicking in.
"You said it though." She said. Indigo grabbed his hand innocently, trying to get him to look her in the eye.
The moment her hand touched his, Harrison immediately looked down at her, shock written all over his face, even though he knew that none of this was romantic. He would always be a friend to her. "I mean, yeah, I do. I always will. But I'm not the one for you."
"Haz..." Indigo frowned. Now she felt bad, like, extremely bad. Harrison sacrificed his happiness for Tom's, and Indigo was well aware of it now.
"Just..." He paused. Harrison could just throw away everything, run away with Indigo, and potentially be with her, but he knew that wouldn't be possible. He couldn't do that to Tom, and once again he would be sacrificing his happiness for the sake of his best friend. "come with me, please. I mean, don't you love Tom?"
"Of course I do." She replied, tears still streaming down her face.
Harrison let go of her hand, symbolizing that he was letting this go, this being whatever was going on between him and Indigo. He had to move on, especially if she was getting married. "Then let's get you married."
"Okay." Indigo whispered, and followed Harrison to her apartment. Despite agreeing, she still felt as if the chance of being wed was very low.

Indigo and Harrison made it back to the apartment at around 3 am, and even though it was that late, Zendaya, Jenny, and Laura were wide awake. The moment they heard the keys jiggle, they ran to the door, slipping and sliding against the floor as they ran.
"Indie!" They all yelled at the same time, bombarding her with a big group hug. Indigo gladly accept the hug, embracing the three tall girls.
"Don't ever leave us like that again." Jenny said to her, as if it were a demand. Indigo simply nodded at her, then took the opportunity to hug her best friend apart from the group hug.
After the two best friends were done with their hug, Harrison had to head back to Diego's before anyone noticed that he had left. He urged that the girls watched over Indigo and made sure that she got some sleep, and they all agreed to do so.
Harrison gave Indigo one last hug before leaving, then the petite girl ran over to her window to get one last look at him. Once he wasn't within seeing distance anymore, she went to her room to get changed, then walked back into the living room where Zendaya, Jenny, and Laura sat.
"I should probably, um, explain myself." Indigo said awkwardly as she sat down across the three girls.
"The only question we have is why did you run away?" Zendaya asked, pretty much speaking for the two girls next to her.
Indigo took a minute to think of why she did what she did. When she wrote the note and ran off it all felt like a blur, and she did it all without thinking. "I felt overwhelmed, and usually I don't handle that well."
"Sounds about right." Jenny shrugged, sitting back while Zendaya and Laura sat up.
"You're still getting married tomorrow, right?" Laura asked.
To be honest, Indigo didn't know the answer, but she couldn't say no. "I guess? I don't want to let Tom down."
"I'm pretty sure running away without an explanation would crush him more." Zendaya replied, letting out a laugh at the end to make it seem less serious.
"Yeah, well I didn't exactly think that through." She sighed. After this, Indigo felt extremely embarrassed. Nobody was going to forget this and she knew it, and that probably had to be the worst part.
"You should get some rest." Laura said in a comforting way. "Maybe you can think through this wedding then."
"I guess." Indigo shrugged. "Uh, goodnight."
"Goodnight." The three girls said, then let Indigo go to her respective bedroom to get some shuteye. There sure was a lot of think about, so she could only pray that she gets at least one hour of sleep somehow.

Wedding day
Everyone made it to the wedding venue early in the morning, making sure that Tom and Indigo didn't see each other before the actual reception.
Right now, Indigo sat in her bridal suite, letting her bridesmaids help her get glammed up for her big day. They all assumed that Indigo was tired, but really she felt like she could have a breakdown any minute.
Jenny helped out her best friend by putting on her makeup, while Laura carefully put her hair up in a high ponytail and curled it to perfection. Sure, Indigo felt like a princess, but she couldn't help but have too much on her mind.
After getting her hair and makeup done, everyone helped her get into her Cinderella-like dress, and looked in awe as she stood in her gown.
"You look gorgeous." Zendaya complimented her. If someone told Indigo 2 years ago that Zendaya would be a bridesmaid at her wedding, she would've slapped you silly.
"Thank you, Z." Indigo smiled, looking down at her dress.
"Are you excited?" Laura asked, trying to be ecstatic for the sake that this almost could've been a disaster.
"Yeah." She lied through her teeth. If only Indigo could walk over to wherever Tom was and tell him the truth.
"Wait until Tom see's you. He's probably gonna faint on the spot." Jenny said, poking her best friend.
"Ha, yeah." Indigo let out a dry laugh. They all noticed her behavior, and realized that this wasn't about being tired at all. "Hey, you okay?"
"Yeah! Just nervous is all." She lied again. Nervous? Please.
"We'll be downstairs making sure things are going smoothly." Zendaya said, motioning Jenny and Laura to the door. "See you at the aisle, alright?"
"Yeah, see you at the aisle." Indigo forced a smile. After they all left, Indigo took a look at herself in the mirror, reflecting on everything.
Should I tell him? No, he'll be so upset. Indigo thought to herself, having a mini battle in her mind. After a few minutes of going back and forth with herself, she decided to take a leap of faith. Fuck it. I'm going.
Indigo lifted the front of her dress a little so she could walk easier, and slyly opened the door and closed it without making a sound. She walked down the hall until she found a door that said "groom" on it, and knocked on it lightly.
"Tommy? It's me, Indie. Uh, we need to talk."
