Originality
≫ Make sure your book has originality. Instead of the typical high school setting, try something that drives the reader in. For example, maybe you would have the characters meet in an ally, as the female is running away from a dog, the male comes in and rescues her. Or let's say the female protagonist was working a case, and the male protagonist is the culprit. Or maybe even have the male meet your girl on match.com, it's your story, your creation brought alive.
