".....and on a different note, fans of famous singer, Percy Jackson, can't seem to get enough of his new band, which has sold out several concerts along the East coast."
My face went red as I struggled for the remote, flipping off the channel as soon as I possibly could. Annabeth laughed and planted a kiss on my face.
It had been nearly a year since Annabeth and I had gotten back together. Practically all the gossip tabloids talked about was us, but neither of us minded because we were finally back together. The news of our reunion filled every issue, but we just drowned it out.
My new band was doing great, which was an amazing surprise to me. We'd done a few concerts along the east coast and had even released an album and a few singles, all of which reaching into the top tens on the charts.
"Don't be embarrassed, people love you," she said as she leaned closer to me, a smile still etched on her face.
I wrapped an arm around her as a sigh escaped my lips. "I know, and I'm grateful and all, but this....it's a little too much."
Annabeth rolled her eyes and shook her head. "You're the only celebrity I know who's overwhelmed by their success. Well, you, Piper, Jason, Nico, and Grover. You're all so humble. I'm
used to very snobby people."
Before I could respond, Estelle rushed into the room, her hair whipping behind her. I grinned as she rushed up and instantly sat herself in between me and Annabeth.
We were at my mom's house, a place Annabeth and I had been spending a lot of time at ever since we got back together (at Estelle's request, since she seemed to like Annabeth more than me now.)
My mom and Paul trailed in behind Estelle, a smile forming on my mom's face when she saw us. She walked over to us and ruffled Estelle's hair as Paul took a seat. "You two are just the sweetest with Estelle, it warms my heart."
Annabeth laughed lightly as she wrapped an arm around Estelle. "It's hard not to love Estelle, Ms. Jackson."
Sally rolled her eyes playfully and folded her hand at Annabeth. "Call me Sally, Annabeth, you're basically a part of the family now."
Annabeth's face grew red with embarrassment but I also couldn't help but notice the huge grin that had developed on her face. "I....t-thank you," Annabeth sputtered.
Before anyone else could talk, my phone started ringing. I groaned as I pulled it out of my pocket and checked the caller ID. "Eh, it's only Chiron, it can wait. He's probably just calling me to tell me something I already know."
Annabeth frowned, clearly concerned. She seemed to take business matters more serious than I did. "You sure? It might be important?"
"We don't mind, honey," my mom said kindly, assuring me with a slight head nod. "We'll all be right here waiting."
I shook my head as I slipped the phone back in my pocket. "Nah, don't worry about it. Anyways, how is work going?"
My mom rambled on about a new book she was working on while my phone continued to ring, causing Annabeth to glare at me.
"I think it's time you answer that phone," Paul suggested with a raise of his eyebrow. "We'll all still be here when you get back."
I sighed and reluctantly pulled the ringing phone out of my pocket. It, of course, was Chiron still. I picked up the phone and waved at my family as I rushed out of the room.
"Chiron, what's the matter?" I half-whispered as I jogged into my family house's hallway. "I'm kinda busy at the moment."
I finally paused by the door where I knew I was out of earshot but could still see the room. It appeared Paul was talking to Annabeth about something boring as Estelle had started to yawn, which was typical of her.
I chuckled to myself before turning all my attention reluctantly back to the phone, clearly irritated my visit with family had been interrupted.
"This is important, Percy," Chiron replied sternly, causing my shoulders to tense.
"W-what do you mean?" I asked as I itched the back of my head. "Sales are great, everyone seems to love us, what's the problem?"
"There is no problem, my boy! As you know, not only I am impressed by your success, but everyone else in the company, too," Chiron said, his tone lighter than before. "I've finally been able to convince my bosses for a new tour."
My face lit up. "A new tour? Where are we going, more East Coast places?"
Chiron laughed, which caused me to grow suspicious. "Percy, my boy, I've gotten them to agree to a world tour."
"I'm going on a world tour?" I asked, my voice becoming shaky. "Chiron, are you sure?"
As a solo artist I had travelled across America for concerts, but I had mainly stuck to the East Coast. But a world tour? That had been out of the picture for me despite it being a secret dream of mine that I never thought I could achieve.
"You're going on a world tour," Chiron assured me. "This is all very new, we still have to work out the details. We already have a broad idea of locations. We'll start with America. I'm waiting to tell the others, I wanted to get everything settled first, I just knew this was a dream of yours. I'll have my receptionist set up an appointment for you tomorrow so we can discuss everything."
"I..." I started, unsure of what to say. Reality was setting on my shoulders. "I'll talk to you tomorrow, Chiron."
Before I could say goodbye, Chiron hung up the phone. I clutched my phone to my chest and peered out the window, unsure of what to think or to say.
"Congrats, Percy," Annabeth's familiar voice said, causing me to turn around in a flash. She was standing on the other side of the hallway, her arms crossed and a mild smile on her face.
"How...how much did you hear?" I asked. "Do...do they know?"
Annabeth shrugged. "I...I heard enough. I came looking for you since Sally wanted to know if we were staying for dinner. And no, they don't know."
"I can't go," I said suddenly as I peered into Annabeth's clearly disappointed eyes.
Annabeth shook her head and laughed, an eye roll following that. She was clearly hurt, but also trying to hide it. "Percy, you have to. This is your dream."
I shook my head. "It's...it's not a dream dream. It's just something I daydream about, you know? Something to get me through the boring moments in life."
"Percy, you can't put your dreams on hold for me, and I can't ask you to do that," she said.
"Annabeth, I can't lose you again. You're my dream," I whispered, peering down at the floor, unable to look her in the eyes.
Annabeth took a shaky breathe and rubbed her temple. "Perce, you can't do this. You can't put your dreams on hold for me, you'll just grow to resent me. And I can't allow that to happen."
"So we're breaking up?" I asked, my voice harsher than intended. Her eyes widened, so I softened my tone. "Over a stupid tour?"
She shook her head firmly. "God, no. I'm coming with you. Well, if you'll let me..."
I frowned, the idea forming in my head. Annabeth refused to let me give up my dreams, who was I to let her give up her own?
"No, Annabeth," I replied firmly, causing her to raise an eyebrow. "You can't put your dreams on hold for mine."
"I'm not," she admitted, crossing her arms against her chest. "Actually, this is the perfect timing. I've got no current contracts or plans, and I've just wrapped up shooting and promoting a movie."
I tried to suppress my grin as I walked towards her and took her hands in mine. "You know, this is a lot to ask from a girlfriend."
She shrugged. "You're lucky I love you. Besides, a world tour? That sounds pretty amazing to me. Ooh, see if Chiron can get you guys to play in Rome, I've always wanted to go."
I rolled my eyes. "I'll see what I can do. Anyways, back to what I was saying. This is too much to ask of a girlfriend. I was thinking, well, if you were willing.....Will you marry me?"
Her eyes widened as she instantly pulled me into a kiss. Her hands wrapped around me and pulled me closer to her. Mine found her waste as the kiss deepened.
"Is this a yes or are you letting me down easy?" I teased her as we broke apart. She pulled me into another kiss. "Okay, definitely a yes, I've got it now."
Annabeth laughed as we finally pulled apart. "I can't believe it, Perce, we're getting married. And you've got a big tour, too—! But wait, what about Estelle?! She'll miss us terribly!"
After Annabeth and I had gotten back together we'd been going over to my mom's house a lot more, nearly weekly. And every time we were there Estelle would fall more in love with Annabeth.
Now the pair were nearly inseparable. Every time we visited Estelle would rush right past me and run to Annabeth. They'd play together nearly the whole time and she'd even cry when we'd have to leave.
"I'm sure Estelle will live," I assured her with a laugh. "Speaking of that, shouldn't we break the big news to her? And my mom and Paul."
Annabeth nodded as she took my hands in hers. "Yes, that'd probably be good. God, the media is going to have a field day when this comes out, especially now that you'll be announcing a world tour, too."
Annabeth started walking towards the living room, but I just stayed still and stared at her, clearly in awe. She turned her head around and smirked at me. "You coming?"
I nodded. "I love you."
She walked towards me and planted another kiss on my face. "I love you, too."
