"Is this dress rich looking enough?" Rachel asked as she twirled in the empty party space for me.
She was dressed in a long, green dress, her red hair whipping around her. Even though she'd straightened it, claiming that made it look more fancy, her curls resisted and were slightly noticeable.
"Very rich," I commented as I took her hand in mine. "We should probably head over to the actual room, I'm sure the Smith's would be angry seeing us in their space for their wedding."
Rachel shrugged as she readjusted at the skirt of her dress. "No, I bet Mrs.Smith would swoon over you."
"Haha."
"And, oh, Mr.Smith would shake your hand and try to get your autograph," Rachel said as she picked at the name places on the table. "Oh, look, and grandma Smith might ask for a dance!"
I rolled my eyes as I led her out of the empty space and across the hall, which was absolutely packed with people.
When people saw me, they instantly started chatting with me, leaving Rachel bored at my side.
After speaking for what seemed like hours with some old, boring dude about the architecture in the building, Rachel pulled me away.
"Snooty McSnootypants was so boring!" she exclaimed. "I thought interesting people were supposed to be here?"
I shrugged as I felt a delicate tap on the shoulder. Rachel's eyes widened before I turned.
There stood Annabeth dressed in a deep blue gown, her blonde hair pulled up into a neat, tight bun.
Next to her stood a tall, muscular man with blond hair and striking, cold blue eyes. I recognized him from the photos, this was Luke Castellan, Annabeth's ex boyfriend.
By the grip he had on her arm, I could tell they were more than exes now. Although I wanted to scream at Annabeth, I couldn't blame her as Rachel was standing right besides me.
"Hey there, I'm Luke Castellan," Luke said as she outstretched his hand, a handsome grin on his face.
Rachel instantly shook his hand. "Oh, yeah, I've heard of you. Don't you cheat on all your girlfriends?"
Although mine and Annabeth's faces were bright red, Luke just laughed casually, although there was a hint of resentment in his voice.
"Not anymore. I've learned my lesson, believe me. I'm not just some dumb twenty year old anymore," he assured us as his grip on Annabeth tightened. "And after Annabeth took me back, I'd never cheat on her."
Again.
"Oh, great!" Rachel exclaimed, which was obviously fake. "Yeah, I just heard about your cheating scandal. Apparently you covered it up, but I read it on Daily Mail, so who knows! Did you really pay a girl a million dollars?"
"Rachel, stop." The words came out of my mouth forcefully.
Rachel ignored me and continued. "Or was that embellished? I guess paying a girl off shows you really care."
"Rachel!"
