"So...Thalia told me that you're scared of her. I'm assuming she gave you the 'boyfriend talk'," Annabeth said as she entered my apartment, closing the door behind her.

I set down one of the boxes of Annabeth's that we'd been bringing up and nervously laughed. "What? No, I'm not scared of her..."

Annabeth laughed as she ruffled my messy hair and planted a kiss on my cheek. "It's alright if you are, she's one scary lady. She means well, though."

"I wasn't scared."

"Whatever you say."

The days following Annabeth's party, we'd started the process of cleaning and reorganizing my apartment, which felt like it took years.

Now she was finally ready to move in and we were moving in some of her boxes. She primarily stayed at my apartment, but they were filming her new movie right near her apartment, so she had to stay there some nights.

Then her phone started ringing and she groaned as she fished it out of her pocket. It was an unknown number, but she picked up anyways.

Her face grew paler as the call continued, her hand anxiously gripping to the phone. All she did was nod, swallow nervously, and weakly respond.

After she hung up the phone she placed it down on the counter and took a seat, clutching her chest.

"What happened?" I asked softly as I sat down besides her and grabbed her hand.

She shook nervously as she spoke, obviously upset. "That...that was my mother."

I shrugged. "Oh, cool. What did she want?"

Why doesn't she have her number saved? I wondered as I attempted to keep it cool. I mean, I know their relationship is bad, but is it that bad?

"She wants to meet you."

"Oh, okay," I replied, my voice breaking. "That's c-cool. When? And w-where? I'm free any n-night...."

Her eyes widened. "You're okay with meeting her?! Are you sure? She can be intimidating, and mean, and—"

I laughed nervously as I cupped Annabeth's face in my hand. She stopped hyperventilating and grabbed my hand tightly. "As long as you'll be there, I'll be just fine. Now let's start unpacking your stuff. I can't live another minute without you living here with me."

"You sure you don't wanna prep more for dinner?" Annabeth asked. "Or, does it have to be a dinner? Maybe you could just stand on one side of the street and she'll be on the other, and you can wave or something?"

"We can talk about it while we unpack," I assured her. "And I think a dinner would be more conventional."
