Meetings Part Three

Here is the long waited update. I am so sorry this has taken so long. Please enjoy!

Hera POV

I stared between the two men for a moment before taking my leave. I couldn't believe it, Kanan had a father and a sister and never told me. Well then, he's not going to get away with this...

"Mama?"

I quickly snapped out of my thoughts.

"Sorry Hun," I smiled at Sabine.

"Are you okay?" She asked shifting as her horse did.

I smiled and walked over to her.

"Yeah, and we are going to be having some guests for dinner so we need to get a few extra things."

She nodded and dismounted. We tied our horses over with Phantom when Ezra came out of the hotel grinning.

"Mama! Sabi!"

"Hi Sweetie," I greeted once he reached us.

"How come you guys are in town?"

"I was worried when you and your father didn't come back so we came to make sure nothing else had gone wrong," I chuckled ruffling his hair.

He snorted before turning to where Kanan and Stephen were coming out of Zeb's office.

"Papa?" He asked slightly confused.

Kanan froze for a second before slapping on an easy grin.

"You brought Sabine?" He asked turning his attention to me.

"Well after yesterday, there was no way I was leaving her alone," I said placing my hands on my hips.

He shrugged with a smirk and turned to Stephen.

"Dinner will be around six, we live about three miles west of town. Don't be late Hera's cooking is the best around."

"I definitely don't want to miss this," he chuckled before tipping his hat and walking away.

"Who was that Papa?" Sabine asked.

"Someone I haven't seen in a very very long time," he answered.

Kanan POV

By the time it was late afternoon Ezra and I had gotten all of our chores done and were finishing getting cleaned up.

"How come we have to get all dressed up?" Ezra asked flinching as I trimmed his hair.

"Because Son," I chuckled. "This is very important dinner and I want everyone, including you Mister, to look nice."

He huffed and I quickly finished. After that I sent him to get dressed while I finished getting ready myself. After I was done I went to the kitchen only to see Hera was putting the finishing touches on dinner.

"Thank you for being so understanding about all of this," I wispered in her ear.

"I still would like a better explanation about this man," she said. "Are you okay by the way? I know this has to be taking a toll emotionally?"

"I promise you'll get one," I answered. "An to answer your other question, so far I'm fine. I'm just worried how the kids are gonna react."

Hera turned to see Ezra and Sabine were sitting the table laughing about something.

"I'm sure they'll be fine," Hera sighed going back to the dessert.

I kissed her cheek before going over to help the kids.

Twenty minutes later, I heard a couple of horses entering the yard.

"Looks like they're here," I said opening the door.

Sure enough Stephen and Ashoka had arrived.

"Hi," I greeted.

"Greetings Kanan," Ashoka grinned. "Your farm is quite lovely."

I blushed slightly scratching the back of my neck.

"Thank you but I can't take all the credit. Hera and Sabine really made a difference."

"Yes," my father said swinging off his horse. "Speaking of the children, I may have brought them some candy. I do hope that's alright."

"Of course," I said as the front door opened.

NPOV

Kanan looked over to see Hera walk out with Ezra and Sabine close behind.

"Ranger Dume, it's lovely to see you again," she said.

"Likewise," Stephen said tipping his hat before gesturing toward his daughter. "This is my daughter Ashoka."

Ashoka dismounted and grinned.

"It's a pleasure to meet you but I believe I have met young Ezra."

The boy grinned at her.

"Hi Ms. Ashoka."

Kanan cleared his throat and knelt so that he was eye level with the two.

"Actually kids, this is your Aunt and Ranger Dume is your grandfather."

The two stared at him for a second before grinning at each other.

"So, he's a Texas Ranger and our Grandpa?" Ezra asked.

Kanan nodded.

"An our Aunt is a Texas Ranger?" Sabine asked staring at the young woman a moment before turning her attention back to the man.

"Not quite but I would like to be someday," Ashoka answered.

"Yes indeed," Stephen bragged. "She's a better shot than any man I know. She would make a fine  ranger."

"Oh Papa," she blushed.

"This family was amazing before," Sabine replied. "Now it's even better! Right Ez?"

Ezra stared at the man for a moment not sure what to think. Though his sister was excited for more family he couldn't help get a bad feeling.

"Ezra?" Kanan whispered knocking him from his thoughts. "You okay?"

"I think so," the boy answered.

Kanan wanted to question further but he knew that it wouldn't do much good with everyone staring at him.

"Alright then," he said getting to his feet. "Why don't you two go inside with Hera and Sabine and Ezra and I will put your horses in the barn."

"That's mighty kind of you Kanan," Stephen said.

"It's no trouble," the man grinned.

Hera gave him a side look but decided to just go with it.

"Yes, I'm sure you might like to sit in something comfortable. I know long journey's in the saddle can be quite tedious."

Kanan took the reins as everyone but him and Ezra filed into the house.

A few minutes later the two had finished settling the tired horses.

"So EJ, wanna tell me why you were staring?" Kanan asked.

The ten year old sighed as he placed the brush away.

"I like Ashoka but when I looked at Ranger...er Grandpa, I couldn't help but get a bad feeling. Like something terrible is about to happen."

Kanan gave a sigh of his own.

"Glad I'm not the only one."

"What?"

"Come here," he said gesturing to the side. "I want to tell you a story."

"I haven't told a lot of people this story but growing up I never really knew who my father was. I only knew his name and what he looked like because my mother kept a picture of him. She use to tell me and everyone in the tribe what a great man he was..."

"Wait you grew up in an Indian tribe?" Ezra asked. "How come you never told me?"

"It uh, it just never came up," Kanan answered. "Any way one day, something really bad happened and I was left alone. A part of me wanted him to come and save me but he never did."

"You went to live with Janus?"

"Yes," Kanan sighed. "He explained what happened and I forgave him but a small part of me is weary. I mean after all this time, I have you, Hera, Sabine, friends and this ranch. I'm not going to let anyone take that away."

"Papa?"

"Huh?"

"I think you're getting worked up," Ezra said placing his small hands against Kanan's shoulders.

Kanan chuckled bringing his son into a tight hug.

"Maybe but you know what, at least I have someone to keep me grounded."

"You mean me right?"

"Yes Baby Boy, I mean you," Kanan grinned kissing his son's head.

Ezra wrapped his arms around Kanan's neck.

"Love you Papa," he whispered.

"I love you too."

I do hope you have enjoyed this chapter and as always please let me know what you thought. Have an awesome day!
