If You Just Believe
"Soon...up...okay..."
Jack heard Chase's voice fade in and out as he started to regain consciousness, the Irishman sleepily sitting up and stretching his arms high over his head.
"Good morning sleeping beauty." The red Jim twin teased playfully, his twin and Chase standing in the doorway of the room watching the brown haired male.
"You snore so loud in your sleep. I'm surprised that Schneep, Jackaboy-Man, and Marvin didn't wake up because of it." Chase chimed in lightly, his eyes shining with relief as he entered the room and leaned against the wall adjacent to Jack.
Jack stuck out his tongue at the male before he looked over to see the red clad hero asleep in his cot with Schneep passed out next to him in a metal folding chair, his head reclined back in what looked like a painful angle.
"Schneep was singing something in German last night, so I went and got a video of it." The blue Jim twin stated with a sly grin as he held up his camera, the others gathering around him to watch.
Schneep's voice held a certain gentleness Jack hadn't heard from the German before, his tone filled with passion as he gently smoothed Jackaboy-Man's hair out of his face.
"I haven't heard him sing that lullaby since he was taking care of me after I tried to kill myself." Chase remarked, a sad smile lighting up his face as Schneep fell asleep in the video.
"It sounded beautiful." Jack breathed in awe, glancing up to look at the doctor as he began to stir.
"Vhat...Marvin, Jackaboy-Man." Schneep muttered groggily as his head shot up, the German wincing in pain as he rubbed his sore neck and looked over at the magician and hero.
"They're okay." Chase assured Schneep as Jim lowered the camera, Schneep's attention snapping to him.
"Vhat did you do?" Schneep questioned as he stood up and strode over to the camera, his face flushing a light red hue in embarrassment when he saw himself on the camera.
"Your singing sounded great Doc." Chase spoke up, only causing Schneep's face to burn a brighter shade of red as he quickly retreated from the room.
"Well that's one way to make him stop working himself to death. Just embarrass him until he leaves the room." The red Jim chuckled as he and his twin left the room as well.
"How are they anyway?" Jack gestured at Marvin and Jackaboy-Man, both still sound asleep in their cots.
"They're in stable condition for now at least, but they should be alright." Chase answered, his hand resting gently on Marvin's arm.
"We need Marvin awake so we can find Anti."
Dark strode into the room towards Marvin and slapped the magician's face hard, Chase charging towards Dark and shoving him away.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Chase snapped angrily, the dark haired demon's pitch black eyes boring into Chase's vibrant blue ones.
"We need to find Anti as soon as possible, he could be hurt or worse." Dark explained impatiently, his fingers curled into fists at his side.
"Ch-Chase?"
Marvin cracked his eyes open slightly to look at the arguing pair, some color already returning to his face.
"Hey Marvin, how're you feeling?" Schneep spoke up, walking into the room to Marvin's side.
"Could...be worse." Marvin grunted as he closed his eyes, Chase shooting a glare at Dark that the demon ignored.
"Can you open a portal to Jack's dimension?" Dark demanded, shaking Marvin's shoulder to keep him awake.
"Leave him alone Dark! Vhy do you need to find Anti right this minute anyway?" Schneep interjected.
"I-he's just-it doesn't matter why." Dark stammered, Chase exchanging amused glances with Schneep and Jack.
"You sure that it's not because you looove Anti?" Chase retorted tauntingly, a smug smirk on his face.
Surprisingly, Dark was silent as he closed his eyes with a long sigh, the dark haired demon's fingers unfurled at his side.
"I already know that once Anti is found that I'll be sent back into my dimension where I'll be killed for helping you. I at least want to know that Anti is okay before I die alone in the darkness." Dark whispered in a heartbroken voice, his gaze fixated on the floor.
"Oh boo-hoo, we all know that you deserve it anyway." Chase sneered vehemently, catching Jack off guard.
"Chase-"
"Jack, it's okay...I'm sorry."
Dark avoided everyone's gaze as he quickly left the room, Jameson and Wilford shooting confused looks at him as he went by.
"So, uh, I guessed we missed something when we were asleep." Wilford remarked, attempting to lighten the atmosphere.
No one answered as Marvin managed to sit up enough so he could look at everyone in the room.
"Hey, um, can I talk to Schneep? Alone?" Marvin asked quietly, earning a surprised look from the German.
Soon as everyone was out of the room except Schneep, Marvin, and the unconscious Jackaboy-Man.
"So, I should probably explain my earlier actions." Marvin started, his hands absent mindlessly smoothing out the blanket covering him.
"Zhat vould be nice." Schneep nodded, moving the metal folding chair that he was sleeping in earlier to Marvin's bedside.
"I know I was a jerk earlier, and I kept pushing you away from doing your job. I...it's because my grandmother, the last of my family, passed away yesterday and doctors couldn't save her. I mean, I already don't care much for science to begin with, but when she died...I just hate it so much that I hurt you in the process." Marvin explained apologetically.
Schneep was silent as he listened patiently, his hands clasped in his lap and his expression neutral.
"I understand. Honestly, I do. I appreciate you telling me zhis, and I am sorry for your loss. Vhile I claim to be a great doctor, I know zhat I make mistakes, just like all other doctors do. But magic can't solve everything." Schneep replied gently.
"You're right, I understand that now." Marvin stated quietly, swallowing hard as his gaze met Schneep's.
"However, I do know zhat magic can help speed things up a little." Schneep added with a light smile, holding up Marvin's wand.
"Why do we have to be out here while they're both in there talking? We should be able to listen too."
Chase moodily slumped against the wall outside of where Schneep and Marvin were, Jack standing next to him.
"I'm sure they'll both explain when they're ready." Jack soothed the impatient male, his attention turning towards the door as it swung open.
Schneep, Jackaboy-Man, and Marvin all walked out without signs of injury, the magician twirling his wand in his hand.
"Who's ready to bring Robbie back and find Anti?"
