Home For Christmas
"Bells will be ringing the glad, glad news. Oh, what a Christmas to have the blues. My baby's gone, I have no friends, to wish me greetings, once again,"
Jack nodded his head to the beat of the music as he set up his Christmas tree in its stand in the living room with good smelling candles around him, illuminating the room with their pale glow and adding their delicious scents that intertwined with the smell of the pine tree.
"Well, those lyrics kinda hit too close to home." Jack chuckled lightly to push away the sadness welling up in him to the back of his mind, his thoughts wandering to Signe and the other versions of himself from different dimensions.
With Signe having left him a few months ago, money had become tighter and made it impossible for him to travel anywhere to be with friends, his family unable to travel either since all of them were gathering in Ireland.
"Choirs will be singing Silent Night, Christmas carols by candlelight. Please come home for Christmas, please come home for Christmas, if not for Christmas, by New Year's night."
Jack shook his head as he shut off the music playing from his phone, his free hand stuffed into his hoodie pocket while he retreated into his recording room to record videos so he would think of other things.
The brown haired male felt his foot kick something as he stepped through, the Irishman quickly reaching out and grabbing the corner of his desk to keep him from falling face first onto the carpeted floor.
"The hell?" Jack muttered in confusion with a small frown as he looked down to find the thing he had hit, his eyes drawn to a cardboard box knocked over on the ground with its contents spilling out, the side reading "Props" in bold black sharpie.
"Huh, I haven't seen these in awhile." Jack mused with a small smile as his hand drifted between each object on the floor, a wave of memories crashing over him a he examined each thing with reminiscence.
Jack picked up a snapback hat and a neon green NERF blaster before he placed the hat on his head with a cocky grin and aimed the blaster at his recording camera on his desk, the Irishman's finger pulling the trigger.
The foam bullet sailed past his camera and over his computer before landing somewhere behind his desk amidst the bunches of cables, his intended target missed by several feet much to his disappointment.
"Chase is much better at trick shots than me, I'll have to leave them to him." Jack remarked as he placed the blaster back onto the floor and removed the hat, his gaze landing on a cat mask adorned with colorful card symbols and a black cape.
"Prepare to be amazed!" Jack declared boldly with a flourish of his hand as he slipped the mask over his face and put on the cape, his free hand pulling the cape over the lower half of his face to try and look mysterious.
"Marvin the Magnificent's magic is unparalleled by anyone else's, especially since his is actually real and awesome." Jack stated as he removed the mask and cape before looking through the other items.
"Robbie...man I miss him." Jack admitted as he picked up a long sleeved black and white striped shirt, smiling as he thought of the clingy zombie who always tried his best to be positive no matter what.
"Ah, the dapper man Jameson Jackson." Jack remarked as he placed a black bowler hat on his head and held a monocle over his eyes, the brown haired male squinting so he could see through it.
"Can't forget the best hero in all of the dimensions, Jackaboy-Man!" Jack exclaimed as he set aside the hat and monocle before sliding a blue mask over his face, the red jumpsuit held carefully in his hands.
"Or zhe good doctor Henrik Von Schneeplestien." Jack added as he took off the mask and stuck his arms through the sleeves of a white lab coat, a stethoscope hanging around his neck and a blue paper mask covering his face.
"I hope they're all doing okay." Jack sighed as he tossed all of the props back into their box and slid it under his desk so he wouldn't trip over it again, the Irishman booting up his computer to play a game when he heard a knock on his door.
"Who the fuck would be here at this time of night?" Jack grunted as he stood up off of the floor and walked towards the door, the male opening it to find several familiar faces on the other side waiting for him.
Chase looked like he had been crying for a long time since his eyes were bloodshot and his nose was bright red, the scent of alcohol strong on his breath as he shot Jack a smirk that looked more like a grimace.
Schneep looked the same since Jack has last saw him months ago, except now he had on a pair of blue rubber gloves covered in blood that Jack couldn't tell if it was the doctor's or someone else's.
Jackaboy-Man was unconscious in the German doctor's arms, a large brown stain on his red jumpsuit that looked like dried blood covering his chest, one of his arms laying across his wound and the other dangling over the side.
Jameson gave Jack a wave as Jack looked over at him, his expression betraying his awkwardness as he rubbed the back of his neck with an apologetic gleam in his vibrant blue eyes.
Marvin's eyes were gleaming with a dark rage and his wand was gripped tightly in his hand, his knuckles white and his cape billowing out behind him in the slight breeze that blew around them.
"So..." Schneep trailed off as he nervously glanced between the others before looking back at Jack, the doctor biting his lower lip as he struggled to find words to say to the confused Irishman to explain what was happening.
"Robbie and Anti are missing and our dimensions are in danger. You willing to help us again?" Marvin interjected impatiently as he offered a hand to Jack, a slight glimmer of excitement visible in his eyes.
"I wouldn't want to spend my Christmas any other way." Jack answered without hesitation as he grabbed Marvin's hand, the magician nodding as he waved his wand to create a green portal in front of them.
"Off to Robbie's dimension zhen!" Schneep announced as he charged through the portal in front of the others with Jackaboy-Man in his arms, Jameson following suite with Chase, Marvin, and Jack in tow.
