Christmas Time
"Christmas night, another fight. Tears we cried a flood, got all kinds of poison in, of poison in my blood,"
Chase silently shook his head with a grimace as he tipped back his head and lifted the half empty bottle of whiskey to his mouth, the light brown colored liquid warming up his insides and helping him forget about the world.
His TV in the living room was playing random Christmas songs from the radio so he wouldn't sit in silence while the dark thoughts he always had around Christmas resurfaced to the forefront of his mind.
"Another Christmas to come and go in a couple of days where I will be alone in my house drinking until I finally pass out." Chase sighed with a tinge of remorse in his voice as he took another swing of his drink before slamming the bottle down hard onto the wooden kitchen table he was sitting at.
"I took my feet, to Oxford Street, trying to right a wrong. Just walk away, those windows say, but I can't believe she's gone."
On the other end of the table was a photo of his wife, his two kids, and himself at the last Christmas they had spent together at their home, Chase's red rimmed eyes glaring into his own happy blue eyes in the photo before he roughly pushed his chair back and stood up.
"When you're still waiting for the snow to fall, doesn't really feel like Christmas at all."
Chase used his arm to angrily swipe the picture off of the table, sending the black picture frame flying across the kitchen to slam against the wall and land face down on the ground, the glass breaking out of the frame and scattering across the tile floor in millions of tiny shards.
The brown haired male slumped into his chair once more and leaned across the table to grab the bottle of whiskey, his entire body trembling in a combination of sorrow and rage as he finished off the alcohol in a few large swallows that burned his throat.
"Doesn't really feel like Christmas at all." Chase echoed dully as he slowly stood up and walked over to where the picture was lying on the ground, the male bending down and picking up the frame out of the glass.
Chase winced as a sliver of glass from the broken frame scraped across his wrist hard enough to break the skin, causing crimson red blood to flow down his hand and drip onto the floor like red raindrops.
"Why can't Santa bring my family back together?" Chase whispered softly, his voice cracking slightly with emotion as he staggered towards the bathroom to clean his wound, tears rapidly welling up in his eyes before they spilt down his cheeks like waterfalls to intertwine with the blood on his hands.
"Er ist der kleine Junge, Der Weihnachtsmann vergaß, Und Gott weiß, Er wollte nicht viel,"
Doctor Henrik Von Schneeplestien quietly sang along in German to the song playing on the intercom system in the hospital as he focused on keeping the patient that had just been carted into his operation room alive.
The man, or at least Schneep thought that they were a man under the third degree burns on their face, had been hit by a drunk driver going sixty miles an hour and had several broken bones in his body.
"You know, I am not really a fan of Christmas since zhere is no vone I can celebrate with zhat actually cares about me," Schneep remarked casually to the unconscious patient as he hooked them up to a heart monitor.
"I mean zhere is zhe good doctor Iplier who is a dear friend of mine, however he has a family he visits and is almost alvays vorking, just like me." Schneep rambled on while he injected anesthesia into the patient's bloodstream to keep them unconscious.
"But I am sure zhat you have a family zhat care about you, so I vill make sure you can return to zhem." Schneep stated with determination gleaming in his sapphire blue eyes as he switched on the lamp that hung over the table.
"Auf der Straße beneidet er alle glücklichen Jungs, Dann wandert sie nach Hause zu den kaputten, Spielzeugen des letzten Jahres, Es tut mir so leid für diesen Burschen, Er hat keinen Papa, Der kleine Junge, den der Weihnachtsmann vergessen hat." Schneep sang on absent mindlessly as he ran a hand across his tray of tools for operations to find what he needed, the nurse that had been assigned to help him gone once again.
"How am I expected to vork under zhese conditions anyvay?" Schneep huffed in mild irritation as he selected a scalpel from the table, the German making sure that the patient was still unconscious before he began the procedure.
It wasn't long into the procedure until the patient's heart rate slowed down drastically much to the concern of Schneep, his blue gloved hands quickly covered in sticky warm blood that oozed from the man's chest as Schneep tried to keep them alive.
"No no no no, stay vith me!" Schneep pleaded desperately as he tried to find what was killing the patient, a nurse finally running into the room with a cup of coffee in hand and Doctor Iplier by her side.
"I-"
"I will handle this, just calm down and take a quick break." Doctor Iplier directed calmly as he gently took the scalpel from Schneep's hand as the German stood frozen, his eyes fixated on the patient as their heartbeat slowed to a crawl.
The nurse wordlessly guided Schneep out of the room and handed him the steaming mug of coffee, an apologetic smile on her face as she wished him a merry Christmas before rushing off out of sight.
"Hmph." Schneep scoffed sourly once the nurse was out of earshot, the doctor refusing to return the sentiment as he blew on the coffee before taking a large sip, the caffeine helping to ease his stress slightly.
"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones I used to know. Where the treetops glisten and children listen, to hear sleigh bells in the snow,"
Robbie could hear faintly hear music emanating from the abandoned radio station that the Jim twins had converted into their makeshift base, the zombie kept out since they didn't trust him to not cause trouble after he had tried eating their camera multiple times.
"Robbie no like sad song, Robbie like Jingle Bells." Robbie grumbled moodily as he aimlessly wandered the destroyed road filled with cracks, debris from fallen buildings, and abandoned cars.
Other zombies much meaner than Robbie roamed the streets in search of fresh meat, their eyes hungrily scanning the desolated city as they staggered on, looking at Robbie briefly before realizing that he was a zombie too and continuing their hunt.
"Robbie talk to friends, Robbie lonely." Robbie decided as he shambled off towards the news station, his eyes wide when he saw other zombies already there trying to break down the doors and attack the Jim twins.
As Robbie picked up the pace to reach the doors, the horde of zombies busted them down and crowded inside, the Jim twins nowhere in sight and Christmas music still playing.
"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, with every Christmas card I write. May your days be merry and bright, and may all your Christmases be white."
The music continued playing eerily throughout the radio station, the sound confusing the zombies as they shambled throughout the station in search of fresh meat, Robbie hastily splitting away from the others in hopes to find them first.
"Robbie save friends." Robbie mumbled in determination under his breath as he ambled down the hall, the purple haired zombie pausing mid step when he heard fearful whispering from the shadows that was barely audible over the music.
As Robbie started to investigate, he felt something sharp spear through his head and what was left of his brain, the weapon left embedded in him as Robbie toppled to the floor with a surprised cry.
Robbie could see a human that was unfamiliar to him bend down and retrieve their weapon before kicking him in the chest and walking away, leaving Robbie dying alone on the floor surrounded by his own blood.
"Where are you Christmas, why can't I find you, why have you gone away? Where is the laughter, you used to bring me, why can't I hear music play?"
Jackaboy-Man listened to the song emanating from the group of carolers strolling around the city, his eyes scanning the quiet area from the top of a skyscraper for signs of crime or really anything that he could do.
"Somebody help me, please!"
The hero's attention snapped to the street below him where a person dressed in all black was ripping a purse from a woman's hands, the black clad figure fumbling to retrieve a gun from his waistband.
Jackaboy-Man silently jumped down off of the edge of the tall skyscraper and free fell towards the burglar, his blue eyes narrowed in concentration as he steadily grew closer to the fighting pair.
The burglar looked up just in time to see Jackaboy-Man descending towards him like a red bomb and managed to aim his gun at the hero before pulling the trigger, the bullet hitting Jackaboy-Man in the chest since he wasn't expecting the attack to land.
The hero grunted in pain as he landed on the ground on one knee, an arm wrapped around the wound where blood was flowing down his chest as he looked up at the attacker with eyes wide in shock.
The burglar seemed just as surprised at their luck as they easily took the purse from the stunned woman and ran off into the night, leaving Jackaboy-Man alone with the woman he had failed to help.
Out of nowhere, a silver gear lined with blue flew through the air and hit the shadow like figure in the back of the head before releasing a line of rope that tied them up, the gear knocking them out instantly.
"You're...getting better...kid." Jackaboy-Man remarked through clenched teeth as he shakily managed to stand up, the woman in peril nodding in appreciation to Jackaboy-Man before grabbing her fallen purse and disappearing out of sight.
"Thanks, I've been learning from the best in the whole city."
Brave Blue leaped down from his hiding spot on a nearby rooftop of a building with a wide grin as he called the police to grab the convict, his expression quickly falling when he saw that the veteran hero was hurt.
"O-Oh boy, that can't be good." Brave Blue stammered out with a nervous chuckle to help ease the tension as he gestured to the bullet wound, the other hero's eyes refusing to meet Brave Blue's.
"How c-could I fuck s-something like th-that up so badly?" Jackaboy-Man hissed in barely restrained rage directed towards himself as Brave Blue let him sling an arm around his shoulder to help him stand.
"You just need a break, I always see you out here. It's about time that you tried saving yourself." Brave Blue advised helpfully as the police sirens in the distance grew closer with every passing second.
"But-"
"No buts, I can keep this city safe. You've taught me so much in the past few months, I know I can do this!" Brave Blue interrupted excitedly, his ocean blue eyes gleaming with barely contained anticipation.
Jackaboy-Man hesitated as he used his free hand to take a playing card out of the hood of his jumpsuit, the hero examining it before returning his gaze to the other hero.
"Marvin said to only use this for emergencies...I think this qualifies." Jackaboy-Man mused to himself under his breath as he tossed the card to the ground, a green portal suddenly appearing that spat Marvin out before vanishing.
The magician's eyes were bloodshot and shining as if he had been crying recently, his wand held protectively in his hands as he glared at the pair with a hatred Jackaboy-Man had never seen from him before.
"This better be good."
"I'll be home for Christmas, You can count on me. Please have snow and mistletoe, and presents under the tree,"
The cat mask-wearing magician quietly sang a Christmas song as he waltzed through the white walled hallway of the hospital in his dimension with his black cape billowing out behind him, several paper snowflakes attached to the ceiling by string dangling down low enough that he could almost touch them with his head.
In his hands was a medium sized blue gift wrapped box that Marvin made sure to carry delicately, the contents shifting around precariously with each step.
Marvin walked past rooms with their doors decorated with festive wreathes left ajar, allowing him to briefly see families gathered inside with presents for their sick loved one before they were out of sight.
"I'll stop by later to cheer them up. Right now, I need to find someone important to me." Marvin muttered under his breath before he stopped at a room with the door shut, the muffled steady beep of the heart monitor being the only thing Marvin could hear through the door.
"H-Hey grandma, how are you feeling today?" Marvin stammered as he slowly cracked the door open, his heart feeling like it was going to shatter into a million pieces when he saw her lying in bed.
(A/N: If you don't get what the hell I'm talking about, look at his wiki.)
With her bad hip only getting worse despite many surguries and the medicine barely helping her mental health, Marvin could only hope that his magic could keep her alive for a little longer so they could have one last Christmas together.
But she was already gone.
Nurses had just started to drape a white sheet over his grandmother's face as he stepped in, the gift in his hands falling to the floor with a crash as he pushed past the nurses to get to his grandmother's side and grab her hand that was dangling from underneath the sheet.
"She was the only family I had." Marvin whispered remorsefully, his blue eyes welling with tears that spilled down his cheeks under his mask as he bowed his head in grief while the nurses stood back in silence.
As Marvin moved his hand towards the sheet covering her face to lower it so he could see her one last time, a green portal suddenly opened up underneath his feet and dumped him in front of Jacakboy-Man and Brave Blue, the red clad hero badly hurt.
Marvin clutched his wand tightly in his hands as he glared at the two, both heroes seeming intimidated by his anger.
"This better be good."
"Tis the season to be jolly, but how can I be when I have nobody, the yuletide carol doesn't make it better, knowing that we won't be together,"
Jameson let out a silent sigh as he listened to the radio while he placed a kettle of water on the stovetop and turned up the heat so he could make hot chocolate, the mute lost in thought as he walked into the living room to sit on the comfortable couch to wait for the hot water to be ready.
As Jameson walked towards the doorway that led to the kitchen, he paused to look at the calendar taped to the side of his fridge and only felt more depressed when he saw that Christmas Eve was tomorrow.
Without Marvin's magic to create portals through each dimension, Jameson was stuck at home while Wilford was out hiding somewhere from the detective searching for him, leaving the male alone.
Or at least he thought he was alone.
A familiar green portal appeared out of nowhere in front of Jameson, Marvin stepping through followed by Schneep, Chase, and Jackaboy-Man, the mute concerned when he saw that Robbie wasn't with them.
"We haven't gone to get Robbie yet. We were planning on picking you up first, then going for him and Jack." Jackaboy-Man explained hastily to reassure the male when he saw Jameson's expression.
Jameson frowned in confusion and signed his queries to Marvin, the magician nodding in understanding before answering.
"There's a couple days before Christmas," Marvin started as he glanced back at the others.
"And we need to save all of our dimensions before then."
