Panicked Creativity
Roman was fricking panicking
The Dragon Witch was swinging attacks left and right, and he was barley dodging them at this point.
He hadn't expected this. It was just supposed to be a nice picnic in the imagination with Verge. Now he was hiding behind a rock well Roman tried to fight off this beast.
The Dragon Witch let out a roar and she swung down with her claws, grazing Roman's arm as he dodged to the side.
Virgil was only a few feet behind him, breathing heavily as the panic started to settle in.
Another attack was shot and Roman dodged again around the side of the boulder. Virgil turned and looked at him with horror and fear written all across his face.
The prince gave his best reassuring smile before turning back to his opponent.
She stopped sending rapid fire blasts and seemed to just stare Roman down for a good long second. He narrowed his eyes, trying to figure out her plan.
Suddenly, he realized. With the smoke coming out of her nostrils and the warm orange glow coming from her throat.
He gasped and stood up, right as the witch took aim, right at-
"Virgil look out!!!" He screamed, grabbing the younger side and rolling them both to safety. The younger facing away from Roman as the blast hit, throwing shards of granite everywhere.
Roman winced as one cut his cheek before grabbing his sword quickly. After a large spell like that, she would need a second to recover. This was his window of opportunity.
With one last yell, he struck his sword right into the witch's heart. She let out a pained scream before collapsing on the ground. With a small poof she disappeared, as everything does once they die in the Imagination.
Roman kept his stance up for a couple of second before letting his sword fall to his side, running a hand threw his hair to try and calm himself down.
Suddenly, a soft voice called out behind him.
"R-Ro?"
He spun around to see his counterpart clutching his stomach, on his knees looking up at the prince. He eyeshadow smudged as tears made there way down his cheeks.
He dropped his sword completely and sprinted over to the other side, sliding down on his knees.
"Hey! It's ok, she gone, she won't regenerate for a long time and even then she'll have to get past the- sorry, rambling. Are you ok? Did she get you anywhere?!"
Virgil gave an airy laugh in reply before trying to give his signature smirk. "M-maybe...just a little..."
He moved his hands away from his stomach to reveal a dark spot soaking up his shirt.
Roman's eyes went wide and he went into slight shock, before Virgil slumped over onto him and he had to keep his balance.
"Holy Sh- Verge?! You awake?!" He said, panic leaking into his voice. When the younger didn't respond right away everything went into haywire. He quickly presses his hands on younger's cut, trying to stop the bleeding. Mumbling fast and panicked phrases to himself.
Virgil winced as he felt pressure on his side. Blinking his eyes open to see a panicked Roman trying to stop to bleeding. His heart stopped seeing the royal in such distress. The usual confident, arrogant prince so lost and anxious.
"Roman..." He whispered out, trying to gain the others attention.
The Royal just kept franticly trying to stop the bleeding.
"Roman!" He shouted out a bit louder, pulling his hand up to grab his face and turn it towards him.
The Royals breath was fast, to fast. His eyes were wide and scared and his hands never left their position.
Virgil stared the prince down, before speaking. "Roman, you're in a panicked sate of mind right now. Listen to me and only me, ok?"
The prince felt tears streaming down his checks. "I-I, I'm-"
"Take a breath princy, in for four, hold for seven, out for eight. Ok?"
The prince nodded, before following the breathing pattern. Slowly, he was able to talk again.
"V-Verge, what do I-? I don't know-, Your-"
"Roman, it's ok. I'm going to be fine. Remember that bag I brought along."
The prince swallowed the lump in his throat and nodded.
"Inside their a small glass bottle. It's a potion I bring everywhere incase of emergencies. It's in the front pouch, can you grab it?"
The prince shook his head, before nodding, and gently setting him down, before sprinting over to the dark black bag Verge brought and digging around. Soon, he found the small glass bottle and rushed back over.
Virgil managed to get himself into a sitting position and kept his hand over his stomach. Roman handed him the small veil and the younger downed it in seconds.
Roman paused, before gasped as the blood on Virgil's shirt began to evaporate, and his wound along with his shirt began to sew back together. Within five seconds the only evidence that there was a cut at all was the small scar on Virgil's side.
Virgil smirked, and pushed himself all the way up, looking up to see Roman shocked face.
They sat in silence for a second before Roman broke it.
"H-How D-Did you?"
Virgil laughed a little. "It's the mindscape princy, literally anything it possible, from dragons to magical po-"
Suddenly, he was on the ground again, Roman's arms wrapped around him and he head buried into his shoulder.
"I-I thought you were going to die!! And it would be all my fault- I'm so sorry!!"
Virgil just shushed him, rubbing small circles on his back and responded with the fact that he had nothing to apologize for. They didn't know that the Dragon Witch was going to attack. But the royal still sobbed and apologized over and over again.
Finally, Virgil pushed him away and looked straight at him. "Roman listen to me."
The royal looked down before Virgil tilted his head up to look at him.
"None of this was your fault. You did not know that the Dragon Witch was going to attack and you handled the situation perfectly. If it weren't for you, the outcomes could have been much worse. Yes, it was scary, but it is in the past. I'm fine, keep reminding yourself that."
Virgil smiled at the end as Roman sniffed. Carefully, he wiped away a stray tear from his cheek. Roman laughed softly before wiping the rest of the moister off his face. He hugged Virgil one last time.
"I'm so glad your ok..." He mumbled into his jacket.
Virgil patted his back. "You to Princy."
He pulled back once again, before gaining back that shimmer in his eyes.
"So...where were we before we got so rudely interrupted?"
