Warning-Panic Attack
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Virgil's hoodie changed a lot over the years. From being complete black to a wonderful array of purple patches and black edgy-ness. The one thing that has always been strange to the other sides though, it that he never takes it off.
Even after a video, Virgil never takes off his jacket. Ever. For a second, they were worried his was hiding something more....sinister....underneath, but after a intense conversation with Patton, Logan, and Roman, that idea was quickly scratched off the list. Especially after he pulled up his sleeves and showed them that he was untouched.
So why did he always where his hoodie. Of course, Virgil takes it off in his room (He takes a shower for God sakes), But never in front of the others.
Roman and Logan soon dropped the topic, labeling it as a useless venture, but Patton still wondered what the young side was hiding.
In reality, it was probably nothing. All that he was wearing underneath would be a tee-shirt and he would feel stupid, but it still always nagged him.
He sighed, walking down back to his room. Past Logan's, Roman's, and Virgil's door.
He stopped mid-walk hearing a sound coming from the dark persona's room, almost like a sob....
Patton tilted his head, before knocking gently on the door.
"Verge? Kiddo....? You ok there...?"
No response. He decided to knock again. "Virgil....?"
"J-Just go away...." A small, disoriented, voice came from behind the door, shattering the moral sides heart.
Patton realized the destress in his voice. "Virgil, I'm sorry kiddo but I'm coming in...."
The lock clicked as Patton moved it through the mindscape, and slowly pushed the door open.
Virgil sat curled on the floor, hands tangled into his hair tugging at the weak roots and tears streaming down his face and his eyes we're wide with foggy fear clouding them.
Patton gasped quietly as the door shut behind him, running over to the Anxious side and kneeling down in front of him. Gently, he grabbed his hands, trying to pry them away from his hair. Before looking down at his shirt.
He gasped again as a white tee shirt shook with Virgil. Black words popping up all over his chest like magic saying awful phrases.
'Your worthless' 'Unwanted' 'Breath' 'Unloved' 'Painful' 'Stop' 'Hated' 'Bad Guy' 'Villain' All sorts of things.
Patton felt tears prick his eyes, finally understanding why the young persona wore a jacket.
Pulling himself back into the moment by one of Virgil's sobs, he quickly got back to work on calming his down.
"Virgil....hey, kiddo. I need you to breath, ok?"
Virgil shook his head violently. "I-I D-Don't-"
Patton shushed him, before finally untangle on of his hands and placing it on his chest. "Follow my breathing Verge, In for four...."
Patton over-exaggerated his breath for Virgil to follow. He took a shaky breath in, letting his other hand weaken it's grip on his hair.
"Hold for 7...." Patton repeated the breathing technique that Virgil had taught them.
Virgil closed his eyes, holding his breath for as long as he could.
"Out for 8..." Patton smiled kindly as he slowly got control of his breathing. The words on his chest started to slow down as the phrases starting leaking it calmer ones.
'Stop' 'Worthless' 'Breath' 'Unloved'' Safe' 'Ok' 'Warm' 'Calm Down' 'Just....Breath....'
Patton smiled as Virgil closed his eyes and slowed his breathing down to a better pace. Still not completely there, but much better then before.
"That's it kiddo...." He whispered, grabbing Virgil hand off of his hair and placing it gently at his side. He moved to sit next to him, wrapping an arm around his shoulder.
Virgil couldn't exactly think straight, seeing as a strong surge of emotions like that often lead to the vicim being exhausted (And the fact that he isn't straight). Slowly his head dipped and landed on Patton's shoulders as his eyes fluttered closed.
Patton took a deep breath himself, happy to see the younger calmed down. A quick glance at his shirt made it clear that he was falling asleep.
The only word that stuck there now was 'Safe', so he stayed next to the trait until he was positive he was asleep.
He gently shrugged Verge off, before picking him up and laying him back down gently on the bed.
Placing a small stitch plush next to him and pulling up the blanket, he smiled.
"Don't worry kiddo....I won't tell a soul..."
He smiled, before clicking off the light and quietly exiting.
And although he couldn't see it, Virgil had a soft smile on his face as he slept.
