Working Overtime

In the spirit of Valentine's day (don't @ me I know it's November) I want to do couples chapters! This one is Sope, the next is Jimin x Taemin, then Taekook and finally Namjin. Maybe I'll throw in a bit of Markson as well

Hoseok didn't have a lot of money, a sentiment he shared with his boyfriend. It could be tough when you went to such a high-end school and was surrounded by rich people every day. How his parents afforded to send him there, he would never know.

He was thankful though, because they sent him here, Hoseok met Yoongi and all his friends. The Yoonseok couple had been together for a while yet they never really went out to anything fancy. Hoseok loved Yoongi with all his heart and wanted to do something special for him. The problem was that he was bit short on cash.

After he listened to Jimin and Taehyung gush about all the expensive places they were taking their dates, Hobi started to feel a bit self-conscious - realising he couldn't do the same for Yoongi. Both offered to help pay for a nice night, but Hoseok declined, assuring them it was okay. He wanted to do something fantastic by his own hands.

Little did he know, Yoongi was thinking the same thing. He had also been strapped for cash and wanted to get a pair of earrings that he knew Hoseok had been eyeing. They were multi-coloured sunflowers encrusted in multiple jewels and he was certain Hobi would love them. There was just one tiny problem.

"Three-hundred dollars! How the heck am I supposed to afford that Jimin?" Yoongi groaned to his friend. The two were sitting outside Seonghwa's cafe, the younger sipping a latte as he scrolled through his phone.

"I'm thinking of dying my hair pink. Thoughts?"

"Jimin!" The older hissed. Jimin quickly put his hands up in defense, apologising.

"I can't just pull money out of my ass Yoongi. Try getting a job."

"I've tried, but no one's hiring right now," the teen sighed, laying his head on the table in defeat. As he sulked, Seonghwa came over to check on them.

"Hi uncle Seonghwa!" Jimin greeted cheerfully.

"Hi Jiminie, are you two okay? More specifically your friend over here." He glanced worriedly at Yoongi, who was still laying face first on the wood table. Waving it off, Jimin just rolled his eyes at him.

"Don't mind him, he's just dramatic. He's poor and needs a gift for his boyfriend."

"Jimin I swear to god I will shove that metal straw down your throat if you don't shut up." Yoongi snapped, finally raising his head. Being so used to the threats, Jimin paid him no mind. Instead turning his attention back to Seonghwa, who had his brows furrowed in consideration.

"Why don't you try working here? We're a bit understaffed and have been getting a whole new wave of customers thanks to a certain someone." Jimin beamed, flipping his imaginary long hair. "I appreciate the coverage Jimin but your fans can be a bit much."

"What can I say? I'm popular~"

Yoongi cleared his throat, reminding Jimin that this conversation was about him and not about the amount of followers the blonde had. "I might just have to take you up on that offer."

BigHit. A huge, scary building that Hoseok was about to start working at. As a coffee boy of all things. It may not sound like that great of a job, something Hoseok thought when it was pitched, but you need to realise that these people drink hella coffee, and it was his job to give it to them. If he was lucky enough, he might just get a tip or two for being nice, and tips from rich business people were always high. When Hoseok realised this, he was ecstatic.

Maybe this won't be so hard after all.

Famous last words.

Hobi was given a map of the building, a badge and an old phone for messages then was sent on his way. The first few rounds were easy, he was even given a ten dollar tip. The problem came when he got to the higher up. It was usually the interns and assistants jobs to help their managers with this, but now that Hoseok had arrived it was one less duty for them to worry about. He was new to this, naive even, and they took full advantage of it. "Over here coffee boy!" One of them called as Hoseok handed someone their drink.

"Yes?" He looked down at the name tag. "Yeonjun?"

"We need two coffees, asap. Americano and Cappuccino."

"Gotcha!" Hoseok grinned and headed off to his cart which was waiting down the hall.

"Coffee boy!" Someone else called. Hoseok flinched at their voice, nearly spilling hot water on himself. "I need a black coffee! Two sugars!"

"Hold on, I'll be there in a sec!" The intern scoffed at him.

"Hurry up will you! My boss is waiting!" Hoseok nodded and made the drinks as quickly as he could. He grabbed the first two orders and handed them to Yeonjun, then the next one to the other intern. "Took you long enough." The intern grumbled, taking a quick swig of the coffee.

Baffled, Hoseok's eyes widened. He turned to Yeonjun to say something, but he had started drinking the coffee as well. Handing the other cup off to the person next to him, who certainly wasn't his boss. Hobi sighed. His phone buzzed suddenly, a new wave of commands coming in.

No time to sulk I guess.

------------------------------

"Oh...it's you." Was the first thing Yoongi said as he walked into the cafe. One thing he forgot to factor in was his new co-workers. In this case, it was Taehyun and only Taehyun. Now he understood what Seonghwa meant when he said they were understaffed.

Taehyun scowled at the younger, shoving a light green apron at him. "You just got here. I don't think you deserve to have an attitude just yet."

"Whatever," muttered Yoongi as he tied his apron on. "Where's Seonghwa sunbaenim?"

"He won't be back for awhile. He works two jobs so he'll most likely be back later today," Taehyun informed him. He went behind the counter and began to warm up the machines. "Meaning I'll be watching over you today."

"Oh happy day. What are you going to teach me? How to be single and sarcastic?"

"Seems you've already got one of those down. Keep going like that and I'm sure you'll have the other as well." Yoongi glared at him. He crossed his arms and scowled all throughout his tour of the coffee shop. He showed him the various machines, how to work them as well the utensils and how to handle the sweet treats in the display case.

Yoongi knew he needed to listen yet also felt like being petty, something Taehyun quickly picked up. The bell above the door dinged and was quick to shove the teen forward. "Since you paid such attention to what I said, why don't you handle the first customers?"

"Pssh, easy." Yoongi marched to the front counter. His determination and confidence fleeted almost immediately when he realised he had no idea how to talk to people. Especially not girls.

The group all had their cellphones out, giggling and chatting as they took photos of the shop and talked about the menu. "Hi, what can I get for you?" Is what Yoongi tried to say. Yet all it came out as was:

"D-Drink you...H-Hello...W-Would you...um...Cream?" He could practically hear Taehyun laughing his ass off just behind him.

"He's cute!" One of the girls giggled. Yoongi blushed and quickly turned away, looking down in embarrassment.

"Friend...M-Male...I have..." the girl pouted as her friends teased her about the awkward rejection.

"Okay let's see, we'll take a black coffee, Cappuccino, latte and a mocha with two cookies, this milk tart and a cinnamon roll." Yoongi nodded, still not making eye contact with the group. He muttered that he'd bring them their orders when they were ready and the girls took their seats.

Taehyun came behind the teen, snickering at his awkwardness. "Not funny..." Yoongi grumbled as he fiddled with the coffee machine.

"I beg to differ," chuckled Taehyun, grabbing the various pastries the group ordered. Yoongi practically snatched the tray from Taehyun's hands and he marched over to the girl's table. He stopped however, when he heard what they were talking about.

"I thought Jimin oppa was going to be here." One of them whined.

"Same. At least we get coffee though."

"True. Hey, do you think he'd go out with either of us? I've liked him foreeeever!"

Yoongi rolled his eyes at them. He knew for a fact that Jimin would never go out with any of these girls as long as Taemin was on his mind. "Jimin doesn't date desperate people." Yoongi commented as he handed them their orders.

One of the girls scoffed at him. "As if you even know who we're talking about."

"'Course I do. Kim Jimin. Short, blonde kid with a boyfriend. Trust me, none of you stand a chance. Besides, he has standards, ones you girls could only dream of meeting." He handed them their orders and smiled. "Enjoy." Then walked back over to the counter.

Both the girls and Taehyun were left stunned that he went from hardly forming a proper sentence to straight up telling them to back off his friend. "That's...not how you interact with customers."

"So what? I'm here to serve them coffee. Not entertain their stupid fantasies. If you're so equipped to handle customers, why don't you show me how to do it 'Mr Perfect'."

"Fine, I will." The two of them stood at the ready, anticipating the next customer to come through. A few moments later, a college student walked in carrying his laptop and books. He had brown hair with pink highlights that were ever so faint. Accompanied by a jean jacket and orange-green turtle neck, he began to set up at a two seated table just by the window.

Frankly, Yoongi wasn't all that impressed by him. Just another person he could care less about. Taehyun, on the other hand, lost all ability to breathe. He had hardly blinked since the customer walked in and looked as though he'd fall over at any moment.

"Well? Are you going to show me how it's done?" Yoongi snarked, making himself a cup of tea. The customer seemed to notice them staring and made his way over to the counter, causing Taehyun to stumble back.

"Hi Taehyun," the customer greeted cheerfully. Taehyun said nothing, only giving him a small wave. "I'll have my usual please." He said, handing the barista a twenty dollar bill. After giving him his change, Taehyun signed that he'd bring him his order in a moment.

"You can breathe now dumbass," said Yoongi once the customer had gone. Taehyun let out the breath he had been holding and turned to glare at the teen.

"Are you seriously drinking tea?"

"Mhm," Yoongi hummed. "I wish I had filmed that. You were an utter train wreck. Who is that guy anyway?" The barista leaned across the counter, letting out a love struck sigh.

"His name is Beomgyu~" he gushed. "He's in a couple of my classes, but I can never talk to him. He's just so sweet and cute and perfect and talented and-"

"And you need to zip it before I call him over here and leave."

"You wouldn't!"

"I would and I will if you don't make a move." Taehyun scoffed at him, turning his attention to the customer that has just walked in.

Personally, Yoongi didn't care about Taehyun's love life in the slightest. It was just that he knew how it felt to be awkward and flustered around someone you like. So he was going to help his hyung get over his feelings. It wasn't like he had anything better to do.

Plus, he may just get something out of it in the end.

------------------------------

"Stay positive Hoseok. Just a few more weeks and you can take Yoongi anywhere he wants. You can see him smile and go 'Wow Hobi, you did all this for me?' And I'll say 'Of course Kitten, I'd do anything for you!'" The teen stared at his reflection, repeating words of encouragement in the lush office bathroom.

He was on a twenty minute break, much of which he spent talking to himself in front of the sink. "Um...are you alright?" Hoseok whipped around, now faced with a tall man, likely a college student, with black hair and brown eyes staring at the boy with concern. Now that Hobi thought about it, he was actually the person he always saw Yeonjun hanging out with. Soobin, he assumed. "Coffee boy, right? What's wrong?"

Hoseok simply shook his head, staring hopelessly into the mirror. "Why are people so demanding?" He whined. Soobin chuckled at him as he moved to the next sink to wash his hands.

"Is this your first time working at a large company?"

"Mhm. I helped at a pet shop for a good while, but I guess that's not really the same." What he'd give to get ten bucks for playing with puppies. He'd drop this in a heartbeat if he could.

Soobin chuckled again, drying his hands on a lush pink towel. This place is too fancy. Even the towels have class.

"What are you working towards?"

"A nice night for my boyfriend. We can't really afford to go anywhere super expensive. But I wanted to change that this time around because he deserves the best." It really was starting to get to him that he wasn't up to status. The constant reminder of wealth that he may never be able to reach was always dangling over his head, almost taunting him, was irritating.

Soobin hummed, patting the teen on the back with a smile. "Here's a little tip," he said. "Go to the higher ups as often as possible. They like to be "generous" and give bigger tips than their colleagues to be "nice" . Trust me, it's a mess but a fun one to watch. Get them their coffee for a good week and you'll be set."

Hoseok smiled brightly at him. "Thank you sunbae, I'll keep that in mind."

"'Course, good luck."

------------------------------

"Ready...set...open your eyes!"

Yoongi opened his eyes with a gasp. A beautifully decorated table lit by fairy lights overlooking the city. The bright lights of the bustling town below them created a stunning atmosphere that had Yoongi at a loss for words. "Well, what do you think?"

The older teen grabbed Hoseok's hands and quickly pulled him into a kiss, draping his arms around his shoulders with a small grin. "It's beautiful." He told him.

"I'm happy you like it," Hobi replied, bringing Yoongi back into another kiss and gently pressing their foreheads together.

"I've got a surprise for you as well," Yoongi slid a hand into his pocket, pulling out a grey velvet box and handing it to his boyfriend. Hoseok opened it excitedly, his smile brightening even more.

"Yoongi," he gushed as he brought Yoongi into a hug. "Thank you!" The two teens sat down at the table, both in awe of the expensive looking silverware and dishes.

"How'd you afford all this Hobi?" Yoongi asked while he continued to glance around in awe.

"Coffee boy at BigHit. It was painful, I wouldn't recommend it." He laughed. "And you? How'd you get these?"

"Let's just say I won a bet and helped someone score a date. Maybe I'll tell you about it sometime."

"Either way, I love it, and I love you kitten."

"I love you too sunshine."
