The Taekook Problem
So sorry for the wait! I had written out the majority of this chapter but scrapped it because it was just terrible then after that rewrote it like three separate times because I just couldn't stick to the original plan for the chapter. Tbh I just wanted to update this book before 2021 ended or something idk, I've been a pain (-_-)

By now, everyone in school knew Jungkook and Taehyung were dating. How could you not when they held each other like their lives depended on it. People started to give up on Taehyung because they knew they couldn't compete with Jungkook and others stopped bothering Jungkook because they were well aware Taehyung would be there in a second to give them a piece of his mind. They were the school's new power couple and you'd have to be blind, deaf or just plain stupid not to notice.
Right now, it was a usual day for everyone. Jungkook was sitting in first period with Hoseok waiting for Taehyung to come in. "Is Tae okay?" The older asked, taking out his textbook and notes for class. Jungkook shrugged. He had texted his boyfriend a couple of times but so far there was no reply.
"Jungkook," the teacher called, earning the teen's attention. "Where on Earth is Taehyung? I'm about to start my lesson."
"I'm sorry ma'am, I have no clue-" Just then, the classroom door suddenly swung open, all heads turned to see Taehyung standing at the entrance. The sophomore waltzed in with his arms laid nonchalantly behind his head while the teacher scoffed at him.
"Taehyung! How dare you waltz in here when you were so late!"
"Only by a few minutes," He replied, taking his seat next to Jungkook and placing a kiss on his cheek. The teacher rolled her eyes, simply writing off her annoyances and beginning her lesson. Jungkook glanced at his boyfriend with worry and took his hand with a pout. "I thought we agreed you'd try and make it to class on time," he said.
"I knoooooow and I'm sorry, something came up!" Jungkook stuck his tongue out at him as Taehyung laid himself against his chest while gazing up at him with his puppy dog eyes. The younger rolled his eyes but still grinned. "I'll try to make it on time."
Spoiler: He didn't make it on time. The week persisted like this, but with more absentees to come. It got to the point where Taehyung had skipped out on lunch with everyone and it made Jungkook's heart hurt. Did he not want to see him? He was late to nearly every class they had together. Was Tae late to all his lessons or just the ones he had with Jungkook? These thoughts clouded the freshman's mind throughout the week and even during track practice, where he usually thrived.
Though he was one of the younger members of the team, Jungkook was quickly rising through the ranks to where if the captain was absent, most would look to him for advice. Jungkook seemed to excel at whatever he took on, earning him the name 'The Golden Maknae'. A lot of people wanted him to join their clubs or teams since they knew he was a guaranteed win, but for now Jungkook was sticking with track.
"All good there, Kook?" Jungkook's trackmate, Felix asked. He was a recent transfer from Australia, but his Korean was nearly perfect (give or take a few moments) and he was a pure joy to be around. Jungkook rolled out into a starfish position on the field, as everyone around him casually did their stretches.
"Sigh, yes."
"You just said sigh, I don't think you're okay." The older student groaned in agreement, then rolled onto his stomach. "Is it Taehyung?"
"How'd you guess?"
"You two didn't eat lunch together and lately people haven't been seeing you in the hallways together. Everyone thinks you broke up." Jungkook gasped and instantly sat up to shake his head.
"No! Of course no!" Unless they did and he just didn't know. Can Tae do that? Would Tae do that?
Felix chuckled at him. "Yeah, didn't think so. You guys are practically conjoined at the hip." The blonde pulled Jungkook to his feet, both doing one last stretch before Bang Chan called for them to start running. Four laps around the entire track. The two freshmen kept at a moderate speed with the rest of the team and were half way through their second lap when Felix suggested an idea. "Me and a few friends are going to get pizza. You wanna come?"
Jungkook shrugged. He had originally planned to ask Tae out today, but since he seemed pretty preoccupied, he figured why not. "Sure. Is Bang Chan coming?"
"I mean...H-He might be..." Felix groaned at him as Jungkook made playful kissing noises at him, the two of them giggling while they continued to jog. By the time practice was over Jungkook still hadn't seen Taehyung, which was strange since he usually watched him and cheered him on. The brunette couldn't help but be a little frustrated. Maybe he was being too clingy but it shouldn't matter. The least Taehyung could do was give some sort of warning before he decided to ditch him for a full week.
At least now he had plans and wouldn't have to sit on his thoughts alone. Speaking of which, Felix told Jungkook he'd wait for him in the front of school since Chan was already there. Jungkook, after teasing him, said that he'd be there after he changed. For a while, the teen was able to get dressed in peace, that is, till he heard the familiar whistles of some of the seniors.
"Hey there pretty boy~" One of them taunted, making Jungkook cringe.
"What do you guys want?" He huffed, slipping on his shirt and quickly gathering his belongings. A harsh smack landed on his rear causing him to whip around and glare at the older boys. They only laughed at his bright red face as one of them turned him around and hit him again.
"Aw, you don't like that pansy?" They taunted. "I thought all you fags liked it when someone touched you."
"L-Leave me alone!" Shouted Jungkook. He slung his bag over his shoulder and went to storm out, only to be pushed back against the lockers.
"That wasn't a no." Jungkook didn't know what to do. It had been so long since he'd been in a situation like this, he's had Taehyung to protect him. The seniors simply continued to laugh at him, kicking him, poking him, making lewd and offensive comments at him while the poor boy was backed in a corner. He was so terrified that when one of them began to unzip their pants he let out a literal scream loud enough to be heard from across the school.
"HEY YOU BASTARDS!" Jungkook slowly looked up when he felt someone stand over him.
"T-TaeTae...?"
"Just what the fuck do you think you all are doing to him?" He growled.
"Oh come on, we were just having a little fun. We weren't actually going to do anything. We're not gay dude." Jungkook could see Taehyung's fist twitch like he could charge towards them at any moment.
"One, I'm not your dude. Two, it's not about being gay it's about being assholes. And three," Taehyung grabbed one of the boys by the collar, yanking him just inches before his face as he glared into his soul. "If I ever see you even make eye contact with Jungkook again I will drag you to Hell and back by your hair then ruin your chances of going anywhere in life. Do. You. Hear. Me." The other senior nodded hastily before Taehyung dropped him to the ground and watched him scoot up.
"Come on dude, he's just bluffing." The kid's friend scoffed. The brunette chuckled, turning his dark gaze to the other student.
"I'm Wang Taehyung. I never bluff." The name drop was enough to scare them off for good and the trio of boys quickly scampered away. As soon as he was sure they were out of sight Taehyung rushed to Jungkook and wrapped him in the biggest hug possible, mumbling his apologies over and over again. "Hey hey hey," Jungkook gently shushed, still not letting him go. "Everything's okay."
"B-But what it they-"
"Don't think like that. Those guys are a bunch of scared cowards, they were just trying to scare me. I'm sorry." Taehyung finally let go of Jungkook and cupped his face as he furrowed his brow.
"Why the hell are you apologising? I'm the one who wasn't here to protect you and skipped out on your practice. I'm the one who's sorry! I'm so so SO sorry Kookie!" Despite Taehyung's sometimes cold exterior, he could be very emotional when it came down to things and Jungkook found that his boyfriend was more upset with the situation than he was. So he opened his arms for another hug, which Taehyung threw himself into, and patiently waited for him to calm down.
Once they were done cuddling, they finally left the locker room, with Taehyung carrying Jungkook's gym bag while they walked out hand in hand. "Do you want to go out today? I was thinking we could go to the skating rink." Jungkook smiled, ready to respond but suddenly remembered his previous plans.
"Sorry, Felix and I are going out with a few members of our team." Right on cue, Felix called out to Jungkook from the other end of the parking lot, waving over and telling him to hurry up. "Do you want to come with us?" The freshman asked with a grin. Taehyung thought for a moment before eventually shrugging.
"I'm good, you should spend some time with your team. I can't be the only one you hang out with after all." He said playfully. Jungkook gave him a slight pout but still nodded. He placed a peck on Taehyung's cheek just as he grabbed his duffle bag and skipped off to meet everyone else.
After that their week simply carried on as normal. Taehyung and Jungkook spent time out over the weekend to make up for the older missing out on most of the week. Speaking of which, when Jungkook asked why he hadn't been attending class, Taehyung very bluntly stated: "I just didn't want to."
A sentiment neither the teachers nor Taehyung's father appreciated all too much. As such he'd have to sit in after school and during break for the next two weeks and on top of that, wasn't allowed to go out either. Translation: detention and no Jungkook. It was torture for the teen but while he was suffering, the students of the school were having a field day with wild speculations as to why he was absent.
"I heard Taehyung skipped school for the entire week because he has a secret girlfriend he wanted to spend time with."
"No way! I bet he's running an underground drug cartel!"
"Or...you know...maybe he has a job?"
All things that were just as absurd as the next. The idea that Jungkook and Taehyung broke up got passed around quite a bit as well. Especially since the younger was seen hanging around Felix more and more often. In fact, he had even invited him to his lunch spot while Tae was away. Which some were happy about, others not so much.
"This is Felix!" Jungkook beamed as he sat down with the Aussie. Both Yoongi and Hoseok greeted him with a smile or slight nod of acknowledgment. While Jimin looked him up and down in an almost patronising way before returning to his lunch. Felix looked to his friend for an explanation but he was told not to worry about it.
"Hi!" Felix said towards Jimin. The pinkette glanced up from his phone, which he had under the table, and gave him a frown. "I'm Felix like he said. You're Jimin right? I don't know if you noticed but I'm actually in your AP chemistry class! You're Jungkook's brother right?"
"Oh my God you talk so much," Jimin groaned. He turned to his brother with a glare. "I swear Kookie, the boys you bring over are all the same." Without another word he went right back to his phone, leaving Felix stunned and Jungkook ready to smack his brother upside down.
"Ignore him," Said Yoongi. "He doesn't know how to interact with other human beings."
"Yah! Says you, you grumpy old cat!"
"Is that anyway to speak to your hyungs?" Maybe introducing Felix to everyone was a mistake. Hoseok, while keeping his boyfriend from fighting with Jimin, tried his best to strike up a conversation with him as if this was completely normal. Which, sadly, it was. Felix, surprisingly, seemed to chuckle along with things as if he was used to it as well. It relieved Jungkook and he was able to eat his lunch peacefully. Still, he was silently wishing Taehyung was here too.
------------------------------
Taehyung slammed his hands down on his desk in frustration. He had been staring at his homework for what felt like years. It was about half past six by now and he had accomplished nothing. "This sucks..." The curly-haired brunette pouted.
"Well maybe if you didn't skip a week of class you wouldn't be sitting here in such a huff." Said Jackson from just outside his son's door.
"Trust me, I'd be doing that anyway." Taehyung muttered. He then noticed the suit his father was wearing and titled his head to see Mark standing behind him. "Going out?"
"Mhm, we'll be back around eight." Sure they would. "There's food in the kitchen unless you want something while we're out." Taehyung shrugged and simply waved him off.
"Nah, I'm good. Have fun."
"Good luck with your homework Tae!" Mark called as he and Jackson made their way out.
"I want to see it done when I get back!" The teen waited for a bit until he heard the front door close and the sound of the car leaving the driveway before he let out a loud and exaggerated groan. The bed creaked when he flopped face first onto his mattress and threw himself under his duvet. Now what Taehyung meant to do? Study? He skipped school for a reason. So to avoid his responsibilities the student pulled out his phone, getting ready to text his boyfriend. Fortunately for him, Jungkook was already two steps ahead of him.
Kookie: Hey, check your window
Taehyung furrowed his brow at the text and quickly went open to his window. With a smile on his face, he gasped to see Jungkook waving at him with a ladder by his side. While he made his way up Taehyung slid his window open, eagerly waiting to greet him. The moment Jungkook reached the top Taehyung pulled him inside and into a kiss. "Hello Prince Charming," He grinned. "Here to rescue me from my prison?"
"Something like that," Jungkook giggled. Intrigued, Taehyung followed when Jungkook led him over to the bed. He gasped as the younger pushed him down and crawled on top of him. "Relax." He whispered. Jungkook laid himself on his boyfriend's chest with a happy sigh and Taehyung couldn't help but chuckle.
"Miss me that much bunny?" Jungkook nodded, curling himself closer to sophomore.
"It's been so sucky without you," He whined. "I've missed you so much TaeTae..."
Taehyung cooed at his adorable pout as he began to stroke Jungkook's hair. "Aww Kookie, it's only been a few days."
"So? I want to see you as much as possible. I figured that if you couldn't leave the house, I'd just come to you instead. Oh shoot, is your dad or Mark here?" Taehyung shook his head and Jungkook let out a sigh of relief. "Good. Then can we just relax tonight? My dads don't really know I snuck out and I don't want to think about how they'll react..."
"We can do anything you want, bunny." For the rest of the evening the two laid in each other's arms, whispering and giggling to one another until they were sound asleep. Though neither of them brought it up, they were beginning to wonder if they were getting too attached to each other.
------------------------------
"You two are too attached to each other." Seokjin stated bluntly. Namjoon, Jackson and Mark were by his side as they stood in the Wang's living room, looking down at the two teens who held their heads low in shame. "I get that you want to be with each other, but you can't sneak out in the middle of the night to meet up, or walk into each other's classrooms just to say hi." That last one was directed towards Taehyung, who had done that a number of times.
Namjoon sighed at them, his arms crossed. Jackson had called to tell him that he found Jungkook asleep in Taehyung's room after a solid hour of Jin panicking and wondering where their son was. "Listen, we're not mad-"
"Yes we are." Seokjin interrupted. His gaze was hard and you could tell how stressed he had been prior. "Jungkook do you have any idea how scared we were when we woke up and couldn't find you? You didn't text, you didn't call, you didn't even leave a note!"
"Mr Kim-"
"Taehyung don't say a word," Said Jackson, cutting his son off. "You should've let one of us at least know Jungkook was even here, and you're grounded, remember?"
"But Dad!"
"No buts! We're taking away all your devices, and the only time you will leave this house is for school, do you understand me?" Taehyung's mouth fell agape and he simply couldn't bring himself to agree. This entire time the two teens had been holding each other. When Namjoon noticed this, he sighed yet again.
"Jungkook." He nodded to his side, but Jungkook didn't budge.
"Jungkook." Seokjin said this time, much more sternly. Jungkook whined and let go of Taehyung's hand, finally moving over to his dads.
"You two are going to spend a bit of time apart," Mark told them. "It might be good for you and you won't be as distracted by each other." Taehyung had to resist the urge to ask him if he knew how teen life worked in favour of just grumbling under his breath. Now everyone was going to think they broke up or are fighting and start filling each other's heads with wild accusations. If anything they'd be even more distracted by the constant whispering behind their backs.
Namjoon ended the conversation by saying: "You need to learn not to act the extreme just because you don't see each other for a few days. Trust me, neither of you are going anywhere."
Or so they thought.
