See you in the office
Work was a good way of pretending other aspects of your life didn't exist. That's why people do it. Money and financial stability is just a bonus.
Namjoon was almost thrilled when he was called in for overtime. The whole house had been much too silent since last night, and he was desperate to collect his thoughts in the best way he knew how: Being a badass boss.
Jin dropped the kids off at school and told Namjoon he'd probably stay late as well. Whether he actually needed to or not, Namjoon wasn't sure. What he did know is that he needed to get to work asap.
The moment Namjoon entered the building he was greeted by his young assistant, Soobin. "Good morning Mr Kim!" He said with a bow.
Namjoon gave him a nod and a small grin. "Good morning Soobin. What's on the agenda today?"
"There's a call with Mr Bang at 10:30, a presentation with Mr Wang at 11:20, then a meeting with 'The Leaders' at 1:15..." Namjoon nodded along while Soobin continued to list off his assignments for the day. He finished once they got to Joon's office.
"Thank you Soobin, keep me posted on any news with Jisoo, I'm still waiting for a few reports from her."
"Yes sir." He bowed once again and took a seat across from Namjoon while he began preparing for the call with the CEO of the company.
The moment the call was over, Jackson walked in with his assistant, Yeonjun. Both college students could sense the tension in the air the moment their sunbaenims made eye contact but didn't comment on it. It wasn't their place anyway. Besides, tension or no tension, Namjoon and Jackson were professionals who knew how to keep their private lives and work lives separate.
As expected, the meeting went smoothly. It was a well-known fact that Jackson and Namjoon worked well together. No matter the circumstances, their projects were always top of the line and today was no different. It was after the presentation, however, that they finally began to talk.
After the final director left, Jackson turned to Namjoon with a serious expression. "Namjoon, listen,"
Namjoon raised his brow and crossed his arms. "God, don't do that..." Jackson muttered. He had always hated that look. It screamed dominance but Jackson would be lying if said he wasn't at least a little into it. "Anyway look, I'm sorry about last night."
The assistants froze. "Ooooh! Is that drama I hear? Do you have any popcorn?"
"Shut up Yeonjun!" Soobin hissed.
The other two hardly acknowledged them. "You're sorry? And what are you sorry for?" Namjoon asked. He maintained his position, knowing full well how it made Jackson feel.
"Seriously?"
Namjoon narrowed his eyes. "Yeah, seriously." They were both fathers and if Namjoon needed to do the 'Tell what you did and why you did it' speech he would.
Thankfully Jackson was well aware of this, he was willing to put his pride aside for just a moment. "I shouldn't have tried to make a move on you. You're right, I'm stuck in the past. I just saw how tired you looked and took advantage of it and it was wrong of me. You and Seokjin have a wonderful marriage, and I shouldn't try to disrupt that."
Namjoon looked through Jackson's eyes. He tried finding any semblance of lies just to make sure he wasn't being disingenuous but he didn't find anything. It relieved him to say the least.
"It's alright." The taller sighed. For a split second, his expression turned stone cold. "Just don't do it again, or I'll be much less forgiving."
Jackson smiled. "Deal."
"Yeonjun, your boss is a homewrecker," Soobin whispered as he watched their employers shake hands.
"Yeah...Wish I could've been there to see it happen."
Soobin shook his head. "You really don't, Mr Kim is super scary when he's mad and his husband yells. Like...a lot."
Yeojun hummed. "You think they made up?"
"Maybe, I'm not sure. Mr Kim's been limping, you probably can't tell because he hides it pretty well but something definitely went down."
At that they regained Namjoon and Jackson's attention. "You two are still here?" The former questioned, assuming they had left the room.
"Uh, yeah? It's literally our job to follow you around!" Yeonjun said, rolling his eyes. "So, you're a bottom?"
"Yeonjun!"
--------------
"Jiminie," Jungkook said. "I just got a text from Appa. He and Dad are both staying late today." The two of them had just walked out of school. They stood near the parking lot to avoid the sea of students flooding the courtyard.
Jimin scoffed. "Good," He muttered. "I don't want to see either of them. Dad was in such a sour mood yesterday he kicked Taemin out and I'm 110% sure the reason was Appa's fault. Besides, I'm going to the library to study with Yoongi and Hoseok anyway."
Jungkook looked at his brother with big eyes. "Oh, so I'll be home alone...?" Even now, he was still adorable. There was no way Jimin could leave him by himself. Not that he wanted to of course.
"Of course not Kookie! Why don't you come with us?"
"Why do that when he can spend time with me?"
Both brothers flinched. "Ah! Tae! Where'd you come from?" Jungkook questioned with a smiled. Taehyung chuckled.
"Anywhere and nowhere." He made ghost noises and kissed Jungkook on the cheek, making him laugh. Jimin scowled at the sight but quickly replaced his frown with a smile. "I'm just going to hang out at my dad's office for a while," Taehyung told them. "You're free to come if you want."
"Are you sure?"
"I don't see why not," Taehyung said with a shrug.
Jimin felt his eye twitch. "Alright then. I'll see you at home Kookie. Text me if you need anything!" He muttered something under his breath that Jungkook didn't quite seem to catch but he didn't think anything of it.
The two of them took the bus off to the 'BigHit' office building. It was a little far from the school, but neither minded since they could keep each other's company. When they arrived they were greeted by Yeonjun.
"Oh! I wasn't expecting to see you two today! Actually, I'm surprised to see you at all Jungkook." Jungkook just shrugged nervously. He hardly ever came to the BigHit building. Not that he needed to anyways. Still, he had to admit it was pretty intimidating.
"I'm about to go on my lunch break," He told them. "I just need to give these papers to Mr Wang. Then I can take you to his office to wait, he's a bit busy right now."
"Don't worry about it, Hyung," Taehyung said. "I'll give it to him."
"Would you?" Yeonjun bowed thankfully. "Thanks! I need to get going before Soobin eats my food. The greedy bastard...Bye!" He handed Taehyung the paper then took off running, leaving the two teens behind.
"Shoot, I didn't ask where he was," Taehyung mumbled.
"Well, he's not in his office, like Yeonjun said. So maybe he's in a meeting?"
"You're probably right. You're so smart bunny," Taehyung said playfully. He gave Jungkook a quick peck on the cheek, making the freshman blush. "Hmm," Tae tapped his chin. "Alright, maybe we should just head to his office anyways. There's a chance we'll run into him on the way!"
Jungkook only nodded. Taehyung grinned at him, he took his hand and kissed it. "Oh jeez..." Jungkook mumbled. It wasn't out of any irritation, more so, he was just flustered. Jungkook kissed Tae's hand right back as they continued to lay intertwined.
Taehyung flashed him his signature boxy smile, and they headed off.
The building was absolutely massive! Jungkook would get lost trying to find the bathroom let alone anything else. He was glad Tae was so familiar with the place. He even knew a ton of the people who worked there.
It must've taken them around thirty minutes to find Mr Wang's office (Jungkook wanted to explore). When they got there, they found exactly who they were looking for, but he didn't look very pleased.
Namjoon and Jackson marched down the hall followed by their assistants and a few other people. They were all going back and forth on a matter neither of the teens understood. Whatever it was, they weren't too happy to be interrupted.
When Jungkook made eye contact with his father, he felt as if his soul had been snatched right off of his body! The cold glare Namjoon gave him was enough to kill someone on spot.
"Here dad," Unbothered, Taehyung handed the file off to his father, who looked at him with his brow raised.
"I thought you were supposed to bring this to me Yeonjun?" Jackson turned to his assistant who quickly averted his gaze. By now both him and Soobin were off break.
"I...I was!" He stuttered. "But Taehyung offered to bring it for me and...tacos."
Jackson sighed and pinched the brink of his nose. He just waved it off and gave the teens a nod of acknowledgement before continuing on his way, Namjoon following behind.
"What...the hell was that?" Jungkook exclaimed once they reached Jackson's office. Taehyung looks at his boyfriend sympathetically and patted him on the back."
"I forgot to tell you, don't make eye contact with anyone. Especially higher-ups. Chances are you'll lose your life."
"D-Did I do something wrong?"
"Oh of course not bunny! Believe me, the first time my dad gave me a look like that, I cried for fifteen minutes. I've just accepted that as long as they're in "work mode", they'll constantly look like they want to kill you."
"Oh...So that's why Appa told us to never bother Dad when he's working. That explains why Jimin's so afraid to enter his study..." Jungkook would never forget that moment. Jimin came out of that room looking traumatised. Their father was rarely angry, which is why it must've been so shocking.
"I think it's an intimidation tactic?" Taehyung mused. "If you look cute all the time people won't take you seriously. Isn't that right bunny?"
Jungkook hit his arm with a scoff. "Hey!" Taehyung chuckled. He came behind his boyfriend and hugged him. "It's the same for being hot too! And you'd know about that wouldn't you?"
"Nice save."
"Mhm, I try. " The two of them rested on one of the couches together. Subconsciously, Jungkook had curled closer to Tae, wrapping his arms around his waist.
"So, what do you wanna do?" The younger asked.
"Not sure, what do you wanna do?" Jungkook smiled up at him and kissed his cheek, then sat up and kissed the other. Then moved to his forehead, chin and neck until he had kissed nearly his entire face.
"Easy there bunny," Tae chuckled. "We might get in trouble if someone catches you like this," Jungkook smirked at him. He liked that idea. His eyes trailed down to Tae's lips. He realised they'd never actually kissed each other there, and he needed to fix that.
"Let them catch me."
He moved his lips onto Taehyung's, catching him off guard, pressing them together in a quick peck. "That was nice...wanna do it again?"
"You don't have to tell me twice." He straddled himself onto Taehyung's lap and they quickly resumed, this time getting much more passionate. There were times when Jungkook was thankful to have Jimin as a brother. He was very insightful when it came to things like this and was always giving Jungkook helpful tips. Whether he wanted them or not.
"Mmm Jungkook~" Jungkook began to trail kisses just below Taehyung's jaw where he was sensitive.
"Say my name again~"
"JUNGKOOK!" The teen cringed. That definitely wasn't the voice he wanted to hear.
"O-Oooooh fuck-"
Jungkook slowly got off of Tae, too afraid to look at the angry face of his father. Namjoon stood there with Jackson. Both looking confused and furious at the sight in front of them. "You two wanna explain what you're doing?" Questioned Jackson, arms crossed.
Taehyung scoffed, imitating his father. "I mean...it was pretty obvious-"
"Don't get smart with me Wang Taehyung!" His father warned.
"How long has this been going on?"
"S-Since last night." Jungkook couldn't help but stutter. This was terrifying. Two of the calmest and collected people he knew, yelling. At him!
"Well, whatever it is - It's over."
"WHAT?" Both teens yelled in unison.
Jackson nodded. "I agree. The least you could've done was told us. Besides, you two are too young to date anyways."
Taehyung glared at his father. "Hypocrite!" He shouted, now standing. "I know for a fact that you two were in a relationship when you were in high school! Do you guys regret it so much that you need to stop us from being happy?"
"TAEHYUNG!"
"You wanted me to introduce him right?" Tae pulls Jungkook to his feet with a smirk. "This is Kim Jungkook, he's my boyfriend."
Taehyung gave Jungkook a nice, long, passionate kiss. Even going as far as to grab him from behind. Jungkook gasped but didn't pull away.
"That's enough you two!" Namjoon warned. Taehyung only shook his finger in his face.
"I'll say when enough is enough Mr. Kim," He let go of Jungkook and looked at Namjoon, a cocky grin spreading across his face. "Or should I call you Dad?"
Taehyung was a true master of pissing people off and he was definitely working his magic here. Jungkook only hoped he knew what he was doing.
-----------
"Um, Mr Kim?" Jin looked up from his papers and over at the waitress that stood in his doorway.
"Yes? What's wrong?"
"Your son is here. Jimin?" She told him.
He was surprised. Jimin rarely visited the restaurant. Not anymore at least. Jin asked her to bring him, and the moment he saw the look on his son's face he rushed to his side. Jimin's eyes were red and puffy, he'd obviously been crying for a while. "Jimin? What's wrong?"
"It's Taemin," He said somberly. "H-He's moving away!"
"Aw honey." Jin pulled Jimin into a hug, which his son gladly accepted. Jimin buried his face in his father's shirt.
"I-I don't want to let h-him go yet!" He cried. "This is all Dad's fault!"
"Jimin," Jin said seriously. "I know you're upset. But you need to be rational-"
Jimin shook his head. "No! I heard him! He told Taemin "I have a very specific set of skills"! He got his parents fired from their jobs! I know he did!"
Jin sighed, stroking Jimin's blonde hair. "Your father wouldn't do that Jimin. You know he wouldn't."
"I know it's just...Why does Jungkook get to be happy with his boyfriend and I can't!" Jin's eyes widened at that. He looked down at Jimin.
"Kookie has a boyfriend? Already?"
"Ooooh...you didn't know...did you?" When Jin shook his head Jimin had to resist the urge to smirk. He knew his father wasn't aware of Jungkook's relationship. Especially since Jungkook was much more subtle about his crushes. So Seokjin's surprise was no shock to Jimin.
"Where is he now?"
"At BigHit with Taehyung," Jimin told him. "Do you think Dad knows?" He almost grinned at the thought of them getting caught. Both of them were affectionate people. Especially in private. They probably won't be able to keep their hands off each other.
"Chances are he already does." Jin should've known it was Taehyung. The way he was giving Jungkook the silent treatment back at the dinner was extremely obvious. Yet when he left both of them had smiles on their faces. It should've been a dead give away. Jin wasn't able to see the grin creep across his son's face and sighed. "This isn't about them right though."
"Huh?"
Jin leads Jimin over to the couch near the side of the room and sits down with him "This is about you Jiminie. You deserve some attention right now."
"A-Appa..."
"Oh, Jiminie! Don't cry!" He wrapped his arms around Jimin as light tears began to stream down the teen's face. Jin didn't care if his clothes were being soaked, he just wanted his little mochi to be alright. "How long have you two been dating?"
"F-Five months, but I've liked him since last year..."
"Hm..."
"Yoongi introduced us in freshman year and we've been hanging out after school since." Jin only nodded along as he listened to Jimin ramble about Taemin and things he loved about him. It had been a while since he saw him like this. Grinning and blushing. It was heartwarming for Jin, but also made him wonder what he had been doing wrong.
He hadn't been there for Jimin when he was going through this. His first boyfriend, his first successful crush. Jimin would usually come to him with subtle questions but never asked for upfront advice. Jin's restaurant had been picking up in recent years, with several successful chains. He just hadn't found the time to get involved in every little detail of his children's lives. Jin was curious about what else he'd missed out on. "You never...you know-"
Jimin gasped and shook his head. "NO! NEVER!"
"I'm just making sure!"
Jimin chuckled dryly. "It's funny...the few times I brought it up he'd stop me and say he wanted to be a gentleman. It was annoying at times, but I'm glad he respected me like that."
It was almost ironic. Next to Jimin himself, Taemin had to be the sultriest person he knew. Yet he still wanted Jimin's first time to be special and appropriate.
"You have no idea how relieved I am to hear that! Especially because you're much too young for that sort of thing...but you know how to use protection-"
"APPA!" The teen yelled. He covered his face with his hands as Jin chuckled.
"Right right. You're a big boy now aren't you? You don't need me to remind you of things like that..."
"I still need you Appa," Jimin said sincerely. He looked back up at his father, his eyes becoming glossy once again. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Taemin. I've been a jerk to you and Dad..."
"Aww, my little Jiminie could never be a jerk. Besides, I already knew about Taemin anyway. You're the farthest thing from subtle and I envy your father for not always being around to hear it." He suspected it about a month ago but was never too sure since Jimin seemed to flirt with everyone. Here however, the way he spoke to Taemin was much more genuine, like it was true love.
"Oh..."
"It's alright though Jiminie. Why don't you plan something special before he leaves, hm? You could even do it at the restaurant so I can help."
"Would you do that Appa?" Asked Jimin with a smile.
"Of course mochi."
