Last Goodbyes

Seokjin was distracted. He knew forcing himself to work wasn't the best decision, especially with what was going on at home but he still didn't know what to say to Namjoon. His thoughts kept going back to what his husband had told him. It made him feel so selfish and downright childish...

All in all, his distraction wasn't doing a good job of actually distracting him. It just made him more stressed. Go figure.

Seokjin wanted to make sure he thought about this carefully too. He'd never been the best at apologising, usually letting his pride get the best of him by deflecting and being passive-aggressive. This time however, he was determined to make sure that didn't happen.

His stress hadn't gone unnoticed of course. Everyone knew Seokjin for being focussed and well-articulated and when he was sloppy it was very apparent. So a friend offered to take him out just so he could clear his head, something that was beyond appreciated by Jin.

"Thank you again Seonghwa," Jin said quietly. The pair sat in a small cafe just outside the park that Seonghwa just so happened to own. It was a quiet day, per usual, but Jin preferred it that way.

"Of course sunbaenim, I hate seeing you so stressed." The younger said genuinely. Seokjin only hummed, staring out the window as a light sigh escaped his lips.

"How do you do it?" He asked suddenly. Seonghwa tilted his head, wordlessly asking for an explanation. "How do you raise six kids without falling apart? How do you do it and keep your marriage stable while running a business of all things?"

"Ah, I see," Seonghwa hummed. A small smile stretched across his thin lips as he leaned into his hand. "Honestly, I'm not sure." The blonde responded truthfully. "So far, it's been nothing but trial and error but that's just how we learn. It can be stressful of course, but throughout I've learned that we just need to communicate and understand each other. Hongjoong and I have had our struggles, yes, but we talk to one another and try to see the other's point of view."

Communication is key. It's so simple yet Seokjin always seemed to forget it. They weren't mindreaders after all, but he still expected Namjoon to know how he was feeling, and that just wasn't fair on him.

"And the children?"

Seonghwa chuckled. "That's where most of that trial comes in, but I wouldn't want it any other way. It's about understanding the child's perspective I suppose. They're still young and trying new things. Sometimes you need to let it happen."

"Mhm, and with six kids 'trying new things' how are you still functioning?"

"Who said anything about functioning Jin Hyung?" They both grinned. Seokjin took a sip of the hot chocolate Taehyun had made for him as he thought.

Perhaps Seonghwa was right. Maybe he should just stop avoiding Joon and just talk. There was no use pretending that night hadn't happened. Especially when Seokjin was the one who needed to do the talking.

"Thank you Seonghwa, I think I really needed to hear that." Jin said once again, only this time with a smile.

Seonghwa returned with the smile with a small grin of his own. "Anytime," He said before looking rather unsure about something. "Um, sunbaenim?"

"Hm?"

"Are...either of your sons looking for a job at the moment?" Jin couldn't help but chuckle at his uncertainty.

"Feeling overwhelmed?" The older asked with a grin.

Seonghwa sighed as he gave Seokjin a nod. "Hongjoong and I have both been extremely busy lately. He's always at work and more people have come across the cafe lately and...well...we can't find a babysitter. So I was wondering if maybe...Jungkook or Jimin could help?"

"Well, I know Jimin's busy with clubs and a part-time job of his own but I'm sure Jungkook would love to help! He loves your kids."

The younger clapped his hands with a small cheer and Seokjin couldn't help but chuckled at his excitement.

---------------

While Jungkook did his homework and Jimin got ready for his date, Seokjin was anxiously waiting for Namjoon to get home. He'd practised what he was going to say in his head, but he was scared nothing would come out.

Seokjin perked up as he heard the car enter the garage and ran outside to meet his husband. He didn't want to worry the kids in case things went wrong.

Namjoon was a bit surprised to see Jin waiting for him, but didn't ignore him since he wanted to get this fight over just as much as he did. "Jin-"

"I'm sorry Namjoon." Namjoon faltered. He didn't expect it to come so fast. "I know I should trust you, I know you would never cheat on me. It's just...even after all this time, I'm still scared of losing you. Namjoon, I love you and I know it's stupid but I still get jealous when I see you with Jackson. After he told me you two kissed it felt like years of paranoia had crashed down on me. I just didn't want to believe that you would never want to hurt me. I know I've been childish and I'm sorry. Could you ever find it in you to forgive me?"

There wasn't a single moment of hesitation before Namjoon rushed into Seokjin's arms. "Of course Hyung!"

The night finally came for Jimin to say goodbye to Taemin. He tried his best not to think about that part though. It made Jimin's stomach churn - the idea of Taemin leaving him. So all he focused on was spending time with his boyfriend.

Jin had given them a private room in his restaurant so that they wouldn't be bothered. It delighted Jimin that he was willing to take the time to help him. Not too long after he arrived, Taemin did as well.

The junior had his blonde hair pushed back, wearing a perfect night blue suit to match his eye shadow. He smiled brightly at Jimin, handing him a bouquet of roses. "You look amazing." He said, referring to Jimin's stunning red suit that perfectly complimented him.

"Thank you," Jimin giggled as he took the roses. "You as well."

The two of them headed off to their table, greeted by a violinist, two men carrying baskets of roses and a large plate of pasta with two forks with wine glasses on the side. Seokjin was never one to underperform, even if the event wasn't for him it seems.

Both teens gasped at the brilliant display, taking their seats with bright smiles. They ate their pasta in comfortable silence as the violinist continued to play.

Their night was filled with laughter, smiles and the flirtatious banter Jimin had always loved. Unfortunately, good things never last.

The clock struck ten, both Taemin and Jimin realising the night had gone on longer than planned. The older looked over at Jimin with a shaky sigh. "Jimin," He said. "I want to give you something."

He went over to Jimin's side of the table, catching the younger teen off guard. Taemin took out a small black box, and inside it were two rings. They were silver with three simple symbols carved on. 'J+T'. "T-Taemin..." Jimin managed to choke out as his boyfriend slid the ring onto his middle finger.

"Even if you find someone better, or find someone worse, I want you to know that I'll always be with you. No matter what, because...I love you mochi..."

"I...I love you too Minnie..."

The two of them walked out of the restaurant, hand in hand. Taemin's father was waiting for him in his car. Once he got in, that would be the last time Jimin would see him for who knows how long. He just wasn't ready for that.

Taemin felt a tug on his sleeve, stopping him dead in his tracks. Jimin was looking up at him with teary eyes. "Taemin...Taemin please don't leave me! I don't know what I'll do without you!"

"Jimin," He said softly. "I know it's hard, but I promise we'll see each other again someday..." In truth, he had no idea when that day would be. Seeing Jimin like that, weak at the knees and crying, made Taemin want to stay and hold him for hours. Still, he knew it would only make it harder to say goodbye.

"Taemin please!" Jimin pleaded, now wrapping his arms around the older teen. "I need you! Please don't go yet!" He thought he'd be prepared for this. He thought he was ready. Yet watching Taemin walk-off made something break inside Jimin.

"Mochi...Jimin..."

"No no NO! Taemin... Taemin... Please... Please..." Jimin's breathing started speeding up while his words began to break, nearly on the verge of panic. "P-Please... Tae... Eomma... Appa! DON'T LET ME GO! I DON'T WANT YOU TO GO!"

Taemin's eyes widened. As quickly as he could, he wrapped Jimin in his arms bridal style and rushed back into the building. He only hoped Jimin's father was still there.

"Mr Kim!" He shouted. Jin looked up from his logbook with a gasp. Jimin was still clinging to Taemin for dear life, his face was buried in the older's chest, which was now stained with tears. "M-Mr Kim-"

"Hand him to me," Jin instructed him sternly. Taemin did as he was told and tried his best to gently pry Jimin off of him. The younger teen just shook his head fiercely as he thrashed and cried to be back in Taemin's arms.

It had been years since Seokjin had seen Jimin like this, crying and clinging to someone. It was a heartbreaking sight. "Go."

"N-No! I have to-"

"The longer you stay the harder it will be to leave! I know you don't want to but..." Taemin understood. He just wanted to be here to comfort Jimin. He didn't want their last memory together to be him walking away while Jimin was in such a broken state but it seemed he had no choice.

Despite every bone in his body telling him not to, Taemin turned away and sprinted to the door. He stopped as he heard Jimin yelling for him, calling his name between chokes and sobs. "I'm sorry mochi...I love you."
