Two
Davey stared at the mini-clock on his phone. It was 8:20 PM, four hours after Les' curfew. Yet he still hadn't arrived.
"Hey, Dave," Jack greeted as he approached, holding a bowl. "I brought some food out for ya. I know you ain't always a fan of dis' stuff, but we didn' have any left-ovah's, so-"
"You really didn't have to, Jack." The teen replied.
"But I did, didn' I? And it's the thought that counts! Now, scooch ovah', will ya? Carryin' that heavy bowl aaaall the way out here made me light-headed." Jack dramatically put a hand on his forehead.
He chuckled, and gave him a bit of room. "Here you go." His friend sat down soon after. "So.."
"So..?"
"How are things with Katherine? You two are still hanging out, right?"
"Yeah, yeah, of course we is." Jack scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Just takin' a break, is all. She...had to go on a trip. Definitely."
"Mhm, sure. But seriously, what's going on?"
"Well, we uh.."
"You what?"
"Broke up."
Davey's eyes went wide. He immediately started hugging Jack, trying to comfort him in any way he could. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have brought it up! Are you okay? Do you ne-"
"And that's where I'm gonna tell ya to stop." He lightly pushed Davey away. "I'm fine, Dave. The only thing that matters right now is gettin' you'se inside. Ya' absolutely freezin'!"
"..Yeah, okay, I am kind of cold. But I need to make sure Les gets back safe!"
"Les will be fine. He's a tough kid like you, ain't he?"
He nodded "I guess."
"So there's nothin' to worry 'bout! And if you'se so nervous, I can just wait out here for ya, alright?" Jack gave a reassuring smile. "Just leave it to ol' Cap'n Jack!"
"I thought I was captain."
"No, you'se First Mate Dave! And as ya superior, I command ya to go warm up and eat somethin'!"
"Don't you have food in your hand?"
"What?" He glanced back at the bowl. "Oh yeah, dis' dumb thing." Kelly chucked it in the street, where a car swiftly ran it over, shattering it. "I just used the food excuse in order to come hang out with you'se! There was nothin' in it."
"Then why did chunky white things fly out of it?"
"..Okay, maybe it had some stuff inside, but nothin' for you to worry about right now!"
"Bu-"
"No more questions. Get inside.
"I- Okay, fine. See you later, Jack."
"Seeya."
And with that, Davey was gone.
There Jack sat, alone. Thinking about everything. Sure, he loved Katherine, but he cared about someone else much more. Someone that was cute, and smart, and funny, and had a damn good dick. And only one person had all of those traits.
But how was he supposed to ask?
