Linda Geyser, Grandmother
Dear Great Grandad Charles Todd
I'm writing to you from a small naval town on the southern tip of Africa called Simon's Town. I'm sad that you didn't return to Cowdenbeath to see your eldest daughter, Liz, become the mother of two children, Barbra and Richard, my Dad. Dad married Cathy Hynd from Kelty just before he joined the Black Watch to fight in another war in the far off country of Korea. In 1964 Dad moved us all to South Africa.
I'm busy putting together a photo album and record of our family. My husband, Andre, and I are now proud grandparents of a beautiful little girl called Emma who lives far away in Australia. And I want her to know about her family before it is too
late. I certainly didn't know about you. I
didn't ask about my great grandparents until now. No one told me that you had
died in the Great War. You're name is
amongst the list of Cameron Highlanders
at the war memorial, St Andrews church,
Lochgelly. I have a photo of your name
for the album. Now Emma will know
about you and I hope she tells her
children one day how proud she is of her
great, great Grandad!
Thinking of you.
Love
Linda
