From the thousands of letters the Unknown Soldier recieves, many come from loved ones – mothers, fathers, sons and daughters. As a symbol of the lost dead, many chooose to imagine him as their lost loved one; through him, they can speak of their grief, their pride and their graditude. Whether imagined or true, these stories remind us of the devasting effects that the War had on families.
