Dear Great Uncle Tom

At last I can write to you. I didn't know you, but I feel as if I do. Your brother Allen was my wonderful granddad, and if you were anything like him you must have been a lovely man. I've been to see you, did you see me? I left flowers and sat and spoke to you. The last time I came was in 2006, and I plucked a rose from those around your grave, and even now in 2014 you can still see it is a rose, and the colour of red is still the same. Seems to me you made it that way. Thank you for doing what you did for me. I appreciate that you and many others gave your lives for our freedom, and many others came back damaged. I wear your medals with great pride, and have written my own book about you and my journey to find you. Thanks to you I have found lots of ancestors and it has been amazing finding out much about your family.

Love you always, and will remember you always, maybe we will meet some time, I expect you are with Granddad and my Great Aunts and Uncles, your brothers and sisters. I will come again, and we have another chat.
